The new DX and I love it. It's fast and great. I'm a heavy user so I'd like to conserve as much battery as possible.Is it possible to have the screen not light up when I get an SMS or a call?I'd like my phone to just ring without lighting up because I get tons of SMS for my work.

Oftentimes when I attempt to end a phone call the screen goes dark and I am not able to end a call. I have read other websites in which users have had similar issues. Will this issue be addressed and fixed soon in a firmware update?

The screen wont turn on either when i open the slider takes a good minute and half till the screen becomes "awake". Is there a fix for this?

View 11 Replies View RelatedFor anyone who didn't see this already over at alldroid, there is a new ROM that I am using that is pretty sweet, its a 2.0.1 rom with 2.1 apps similar to that of the bugless beauty but it doesn't move the /system apps to /data and the notification bar is a dark transparent with white clock? home screen rotation works too. It is a very nice rom and I think very quick, as quick as the version .5 of the bugless one I was using. He is also coming out with a version with wifi tethering but said u can install it separately and it works. I haven't tested that out yet. All in all its a great rom and I am definitely sticking with this one because the theme applied is super slick!
View 4 Replies View RelatedA girl at work spilled her drink of water by my phone and of course it got wet. I did the whole sit in rice for 3 days and hit it with a lite blow drying. After I turned it back on everything works perfect (can text and receive calls, ect) except the screen is so dark I can only see it (hologram type effect) in super bright light and tilted at an angel. And even then its barley visible. To my surprise yesterday the screen lit right up back to normal and I almost died, but by that night its back to dark. I have no insurance and have about 8 months left on my contract. I talked to some verizon people and the best scenarios for me would to be A) Buy another Droid X from like craigslist and switch everything over. Cheapest I seen in my area is $375 or B) Ad a line and get a new Droid X w/2 year contract for $200 and switch the info over and pay the data fee on the old one I cant use I'm not asking so much for help on those options, but more if anyone knows any tips to maybe fix the screen (if it is a screen problem and not hardware). It just sucks because it works perfect and it did come back on so I know (kinda) that it must be capable of doing it again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis may be just me or my combo of applications but, When I enter a number on the touchpad and press dial the screen goes dark and will not come back or accept input unless I put the phone to my face or otherwise cover the the light sensor. Even pressing the power button does not bring the screen back . I have forced the 2.1 update and have not noticed this behavior before. Not a big deal but is annoying if you dial a wrong number.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a PhoneStateListener to see call state changes, when a call is incoming I make my app show a toast notification to display caller data which I retrieve from a search service. Due to toasts limitation, i would like to show a dialog instead which allows me to show the notification longer and customize it with imageviews etc...
The problem is that when I implement the dialog and execute the show method in the state listener class, my application crashes.
Does anyone know how to implement this and have an example? It seems like WhitePages have solved this with their Caller ID app.

Is there an application that will force your incoming calls to only show in the status bar instead of interrupting your current session? I have seen a video showing what I'm looking for but it was an iPhone app for unlocked devices.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is only a problem when I make calls which require entering a number to select an option(i.e., press 1 for...).I know the screen times out(?) when on calls normally and that it will light up again when it senses the call has ended, but if I have to see the keyboard to press a number to make a selection, pressing the power button to bring it up usually takes too long. By the time I get the screen up and press a button, the system on the other end doesn't recognize it. OR, I'll press the power button and it won't come up at all.

There was a setting on the Blackberry while sleeping, the phone would be the only thing to ring or make nose. Email notifications, etc., would be silent. Is there any quick setting or app to do this on Hero?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo the other day i got a call and i pulled the phone out of my pocket and tried to slide to answer and nothing happned. I tried to slide it to drop the call and nothing happened. I then mashed a bunch of buttons in frustration and think i rebooted my phone. It did it again to me today, though after about 10 seconds it finally allowed me to answer the phone. I have weatherbug going without GPS as that killed the battery, also have pocket empires going today.

Has anyone else had this problem?I'm relatively sure it's a hardware problem with the touchscreen, but wanted to check to see if anyone else has seen this problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOften my Droid will only ring one time for an incoming call. If the call is left unanswered it is auto-answered after a "normal" amount of time. But I can watch the screen of my quiet Droid after the initial ring and count the seconds until it's auto-answered with my recorded greeting. It should be ringing during that time.
It seems to do this randomly, though it's really tough to troubleshoot and tell definitively. I sat for two hours with my wife's Droid, my laptop phone program and our regular house phone and got consistently inconsistent results!
I've yanked every phone call specific app and reinstalled them systematically, rebooting each time. I've taken a look at system apps to see if there is a conflict. I've also looked at (and pulled & reinstalled) audio setting apps looking for a conflict.
I've changed ring tones to MP3 clips, and while they do play in their entirety, they usually repeat and they are not. I've even done a hack to the system/build.prop file that changes the delay before the phone rings.
I just can't seem to figure out what's going on. Anyone have any ideas?
I am having trouble hearing the beeps that are heard for incoming calls when I am listening to music. Is there anyway to change this to something more obvious?
Either making it louder and the music playing quieter, or even pausing the music and notifcation sounds or ringtone playing would be good. I cant seem to find a fix. I am missing many calls like this.
Did a search and didn't find anything, maybe Im not searching the right words but I want to know how do I turn off the voice when I get an incoming call? I don't want it announced every time I receive a call.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Evo that hangs up on everyone that calls me.I keep the phone in my pocket and, in trying to pull it out to answer a call, my leg slides the bar.I could keep the phone in my pocket upside down and then I would answer every call but that isn't much of an alternative.I am looking for something that overrides the Sense's lockscreen/answer screen.I tried both GoTo and WidgetLocker.Both are great programs but neither addresses the incoming call issue.

However, fire department and my wife I would like to assign seperate notification tones. In addition I would like to download ringtones other than the standard ones on the phone. Suppose I receive a call on the handset with my app xyz running in the background. All I need is to fetch the Caller's name from the application xyz and display this name as" Akash Calling..." instead of "+91... calling..." assuming that caller's details are present in the application say, his name and none of his details in the actual address book. Is this feasible.
