New to Smartphones and kinda overwhelmed. Looking to this forum answers and it is a big help. I have two questions....dumb as they may seem. I received emails with wmv videos. I can get the sound but no video. What may be the issue. Also, other home screens are available but where can I access them, and what are the most functional?

for some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a video that was sent to me at my gmail account and it was sent by a Black Berry. The video played on the BB but when I tried to view it in the message from my phone, I could not even download it. In the email, it has a paperclip with a point to the right, and the name if it is VID 00028.3GP (262kb size). I could not do anything with the attachment and when I touched the paperclip icon, it wouldn't do anything. I forwarded the email to another person and she could view the video- from her iPhone.
So, that's my dilemma and I hope you can help. By the way, I am a Verizon user and my Droid 2 has Android version 2.2. If you need anything else, please let me know. If you want me to send the movie to you for troubleshooting, please PM me and I will. It's just the winning touchdown to my University's game today and I don't mind sharing it- because it was awesome but I'd like to know why I can't watch or download it.
I want to add my gmail settings to the native mail app and use that for gmail instead of using the gmail app. I dont like how you cant attach a file other than a photo using the gmail app and I like the layout of the native mail app.If you add your gmail account to the native mail app can you still receive push email? I plan on disabling the sync settings for google in the main settings but that shouldn't affect an account added to the main mail app.

This doesn't happen to all emails and I haven't been able to locate a common reason (i.e. HTML email, has attachments, Rich Text formated, etc).I'm not sure if this is just related to the Eris or the Android Mail app.

I had to tinker with the settings so my battery doesn't drain so quickly at work, but now I can't see when I have new e-mails! I can get them, but I have to go into 'MAIL' & wait for them to load.

The store hooked up gmail, and I accidentally put my gmail info into the native mail program thinking it was gmail. Now I get two notifications, and have two programs checking mail. Can I just delete the native mail app, or will this cause problems? Any way to just turn it off/remove my gmail info from the application?

View 3 Replies View RelatedInstalled Launcher Pro and love it.Extremely fast on my phone.The only problem I am having is that I do not get e-mail notifications for Yahoo or Hotmail.Handcent notifications work fine.As soon as I switch back to Sense, the notifications show up.Any ideas why this happens in Launcher Pro.I want to use it, but if I cant get e-mail notifications it is a no deal.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have both a gmail and an exchange email account and have the contacts from both nicely synched in the people app. HOWEVER, if I select a particular contact from the list and toogle along the bottom to look at the "mail" option, it only shows emails from them that came in to my exchange account. It never shows emails from any of my contacts that originated from my gmail account. All the other options work great for text messages and updates etc, so I am not quite sure how to resolve this so that I can see gmail emails too.

Security Warning
There are problems with the security certificate for this site.
X: This certificate is not from a trusted authority
THEN it gives me three options Continue, View, Cancel
When I hit continue, it thinks for a minute and pops back up. View brings me to a viewing screen and then after you hit okay, back to the same warning screen and cancel. . . well cancels.
Any e-mail address in the world can send a text message. So why pay for a text plan when you already probably have data plan on your phone?Not sure how much unlimited texts is now but I have an old plan which is $10 dollars a month for unlimited Verizon to Verizon; with 500 texts out of network. So, if I cancel texts on my cell phone plan I can just use the "mail" application that comes with the phone. Use my gmail account and send out texts to numbers and tell my friends when sending me a text just type "username@gmail.com". This way I receive texts from other people through my e-mail and I can also reply back with an e-mail which would really be like a text. You can text from your computer and cell phone.Very useful encase you want to save money. I am thinking about canceling texts on my plan. Maybe you all already knew this. I knew I could send pictures to my phone years ago before I even had a smart phone but I just realized this again and thought about canceling my text plan. What do you guys think?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, after restoring my phone and re-downloading all my apps, I decided to try and use the standard Mail App instead of K-9 which I had been using. The UI is a little smoother. Anyway, I noticed that you can now have it check under 15 minutes. So I set it to 5, which is as close to "push" as I can think of. I noticed today that my battery was draining quicker than usual. Would checking every 5 minutes run the battery more than K-9's "push"? I was comfortable with K-9's push. Wondering if anyone else had this issue or thoughts on it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wife sent an email to her work email. It did not arrive and now she keeps getting a "unable to send mail (hotmail)" notification. And it wont stop. She gets the notification every 5 min or so. I deleted the outgoing message but that didn't fix it. I turned notifications off and then then on and that didn't fix it.

I would have my Yahoo set up as well, but for some reason it says my account info is wrong. Anyway, I get 1 notification for each of the email systems in the phone. 1 seems to be through HTC or a widget or something, 1 is the gmail app or whatever it's called. I've only had this phone for 3 days, and I love it. If it's any help, I'd like to only use the htc one as the keyboard seems more responsive as far as the auto-correction goes, and the layout is more simple and easier for me to read.

I noticed that the only way to view my school gmail account was through the gmail app, however I can view my personal gmail account with the mail app on my home screen. I have tried to select my ASU gmail account for that app but it doesn't give me an option to show it. Is there any way to add that account to the mail viewer?
