My wife sent an email to her work email. It did not arrive and now she keeps getting a "unable to send mail (hotmail)" notification. And it wont stop. She gets the notification every 5 min or so. I deleted the outgoing message but that didn't fix it. I turned notifications off and then then on and that didn't fix it.

The native app seemed a little buggy with my att.net accounts so I installed K9 after reading through the forums. I was unable to send email through the native app, and it seems I can't send email with K9 either. This is with att.net as well as another server which synced well (folders and all) on the native app.
View 7 Replies View RelatedYesterday my Dinc started to post a message that it is "unable to send mail" via my Hotmail account. It has a script that you go through to check the settings and I have done that and all would appear to be OK. But, as soon as it checks for mail the message pops back up.
I have shut the phone off and have pulled the battery to no avail. The truly odd thing is emails are coming and going just fine, I'm just getting this dumb message with a tone/vibration warning.
First off I've got to say the 2.1 upgrade really improved my phone's speed and completely fixed the dialer lag I used to have. I'm very satisfied. My only issues are 2 small problems: 1. My ring tone (same as before upgrade) fades if I pick up the phone to answer it....if I leave the phone on the counter it plays normally. 2. Where is the "send call to voice mail" option? I don't get that option anymore when saving a call to contacts.

The only problem with this its that i receive emails straight away i can access any attachments and view the majority of them which is great, however when i try to send, it attempts then after a minute or so it comes up unable to send mail. i have tried changing the priority of these emails for high to low but have no luck. My settings are:
incoming
Protocol: POP
POP server: pop3.live.com
security type: SSL
server port: 995
Outgoing
SMTP server: hotmail.co.uk

I have just received my HTC desire, and setting up my email settings. I have three different email accounts, and set them all up. I set up the incoming server settings all fine, but when I put in the details for the outgoing server settings, and press NEXT button, I get the following each time: 'Cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding.' This happens on all three accounts. I have used the same settings as on my computer which works when sending the emails on my computer. I finish the setting it up, but ofcourse I can receive emails, but can't send any.

If I click on it, it takes me to the edit email account screen. When I go through the steps it says authentication failed even though my gmail account is fine. I don't know how to fix this. Also when I go to all programs I have 2 internet, 2 maps, and 2 navigator icons that weren't there before and won't delete.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two accounts on my phone, G-mail & Comacast, I swear I was able to have two different notification sounds for them, but I can't figure out how to do it. If I click on mail and open it up I go to menu Button>more>settings>notifications but all I can do is either turn the notification on or off. I can't set an individual sound for each email acct.

"Unable to send mail."
"The account setting is incorrect (Yahoo)."
I press on the actual Notification, and it automatically prompts me to change account settings.

Above is my current settings, but I did not change anything.
I re-entered my yahoo password to see if that's problem, and now get a warning message saying, "Authentication failed. Please verify username/password" but that's my correct username and password for Yahoo.
Even after numerous factory resets, through both the Volume Down+Send+End and Settings>Privacy>Factory Reset methods, my Eris has been unable to send or receive texts, and will not allow me to send or receive calls. When I try to text, I get an SMS error with Cause Code: 34 and Error Class: 3. When I try to call, I get an automated error saying that my phone can't be authenticated at this time, and am advised to call #8899. Even after doing so, I get the same authentication error. Wi-Fi seems to work correctly, and my Google and Facebook accounts all sync pretty much perfectly. Is anyone else having any kind of problem like this? And, either way, does anyone know of any possible alternatives that may fix the problem besides a total replacement of the phone?

i have a Gmail account setup with a pop account tied to my Gmail. on my phone I only have the Gmail account. It does show an @ sign when i get pop mail via Gmail however it doesn't show up as a number on the mail icon. only when i get a true Gmail email does it show up as a number on the icon. once i go into mail and preview the email (pop) it will show as a number on the icon. any ideas?

Anyways, I'm having trouble with getting my notification for my email to go away. It's not a problem with gmail, but the mail app. The notification disappears from the notification bar once I check my email, but the "1" stays in the icon for the mail app even after I've deleted it. I've checked all my folders, inbox, drafts, sent, etc. and there's nothing in any of them. Any fixing?

When someone sends me a pic I get an alert that it was not able to be downloaded, to retry, and then it doesn't work again. Sometimes it will push through a non received picture message from weeks ago and sometimes I just wont get any notification at all. Does Update fix the non dowloadable MMS?
View 5 Replies View RelatedFound out yesterday that my "computer" is not sending text messages (using the native app). It caused an argument between my wife and I, and about damn-near caused a divorce. The bad thing is that, from what I can tell, it hasn't been sending ANY for a couple of days now. (Notice I didn't say that a potential divorce was not the bad thing ) I can receive texts all day long, not able to send them. In the time that I wasn't able to send them, I wasn't receiving any notifications that the text wasn't sent! I can go into the app, menu > undelivered and see 2 dozen texts there. Why am I not getting a failure notification if I have "Failure Notification" checked in the settings?
Because it went on for so long before being noticed, I have no way of knowing if I screwed around with the settings or if an app I downloaded has caused the problem. I've been tempted to use Handcent, but I'm leery about using something that radically changes the interface when I am a new Superphone and new Android user. Besides, it may not fix the problem.
I'm running xtr 4.0.6.1 with LP Pro. Really like the setup and especially the dock at the bottom from LP. I have Phone, Mail, App Drawer, SMS, and GMail on my dock. I spend 80% of my time there in the Mail app as my Eris is primarily a work device for me, and my company uses Exchange. My issue is this, under Menu > Preferences, there are settings to turn on notification for Unread Gmail, Unread SMS, and Missed Calls. These notifications are down on the dock, not in the top notification bar. It's nice to have those three, but what I really need is the notification for Unread Mail (like the Sense icon has). I've been bouncing around the Launcher Pro website and came across somebody asking for exactly the same thing. In post #5 a user talks about using SDK to code it in manually via adb, and he's even provided the code. How can I make it so that it will only show applications that support email (gmail, mail, yahoo mail, etc...) and not stuff like "Bluetooth", "Facebook", etc...

Wondered what people's thoughts were on the mail apps that come with the phone? I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Anyone tried both apps for any length of time and have strong opinions over which app is better? I saw a review that said the HTC app is better but the Google one doesn't seem too bad to me... Anyone using the Google app that would care to chime in?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy issue is that I am unable to send mail using an email account on my web domain - I get a generic message that states something similar to the email is unable to be sent. I was previously able to email on my old Blackberry using the same account, so I would think it'd be possible on the Droid X. I have tried all ports I saw suggested in the forums on my web host's site but none of the three I tried work for me. I am able to receive mail without any problems and my web host confirmed the below settings should be correct. I know for certain that the user name requires the full email address, rather than just the user name portion. Please see below and let me know what I need to change to get this working. Thanks in advance for your help.
