Sorry if this sounds a little noobish, but is it safe to run any of these new roms without the SBF of Froyo? What happens if you brick the phone while running 2.2 OTA trying to flash?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a Droid 2 recently and decided to put the 16GB card from my O.G. Droid but before so I wiped everything from it, minus my pictures and videos. My Droid 1 is rooted and I wanted to go back to it but now when I try to flash a rom it doesn't work and it looks like a bunch of stuff is missing from the SD card or whatever it needs for clockwork to do its magic. So the question is what do I need to do to get back to where I can flash roms willy nilly like before? Do I need to go to stock then re-root or is there a more simple way?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just rooted and downloaded the ult droid froyo beta, and it runs fine, but can't change to any other rom's or flash any kernals. It just loops with the M then reboots back into normal phone. I have backed up this one and stock 2.1, but won't even let me get back to that.

I use Slacker and Pandora every day in my car on the ride to and from work, via bluetooth.Every Froyo rom I've tried (CM 6 alpha, the straight FRF57, FRF84, etc) sounds terrible.Its like the highs and lows are WAY overboosted and distorted.Because this has been common to every rom I've tried to date, and it is always fixed by reverting to my rooted 2.1, I usually do that.But I'm tired of missing out on flash and chrome-to-phone. Is there a sound fix?
View 7 Replies View RelatedHow I love my Droid so much more now that I am using Froyo and Flash. I tried Froyo a few times in the past but always went back to 2.1 due to the fact I am addicted to World War. Now that the 2.2 OTA came out and went ahead and installed a Rooted 2.2 ROM and then installed Flash. Now I am able to stream video from mega video with almost no problems. They only problem I have is that the sound is just a little off. It's not to bad though. Anyhow back to watching The Big Bang Theory.

I've tried downloading one from droid-life but the APK wouldn't install. It said it couldn't open it as an APK file.

I used to have my droid rooted to droidmod I think, I started having some problems (this was months ago so I'm sure everything was fixed) and I unrooted and went back to stock 2.0.1 and then used the ota to update to 2.1. So I am waiting on froyo and I was just wondering if I update and don't like it will I be able to flash back to 2.0.1.

Google Has not Fixed the issue of the adobe Flash 10.1 for Driod ATM but they will so in the mean time Use this Beta one that works 100%. I have this on my phone So if you want it follow my instructions. (only works for 2.2 Update).

Today I decided to try out ClockworkMod's recovery because I had heard that it will install packages without a signature. So I flashed the latest Clockwork Recovery. Everything went fine, but when I tried to install any new Roms such as Evil Eris 4.0, nothing happened. It just would reboot into the stock ROM.

If a thread on xda says, this ROM is for HTC one, does that meadoit is only safe for THAT phone, or is anything that is JB 4.2.2 and up safe for my nexus 4? Whats the difference between a 2.0.1 ROM and 2.1 ROM?
I've been rooted for awhile and always stuck with either AdamZ ROM or Pete's Bugless Beast and they were all based off of 2.0.1. Is there something special I need to do in order to run a ROM based off of 2.1?
As it may be a little while before Froyo is available for the Incredible I wonder if it might be possible to port Froyo's browser with flash support to Android 2.1. Ah the things you dream up when stuck at work doing data entry all day.

I was thinking about rooting the DX before actually activating it by doing the Android screen corner taps; mainly because I want to install Titanium Backup using ADB, so that I can go ahead and restore all of my apps without having to wait for a Market sync, and so that I don't have to go back into each app and set them up. My question (well... more like a couple questions) is installing an app using ADB all that safe?--I read somewhere it was kind of sketchy. And would it even be safe to outright bypass activation/setup to root and do this? Thanks!
