View 6 Replies View RelatedI made two backups of ROMs by manually booting into recovery. Everything went smooth except that I made one on 11-21-10 and it's named as 11-22-10 and the other was made the next day on 11-22-10 and it's named and dated 11-23-10.
The date and time are showing correctly on my phone. This is not a big deal now that I'm aware of it, but was curious if anyone has experienced this and could shed some light on this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy friend tried using a ROM Manager on his DX and it doesn't seem to be working right. When trying to flash a ROM it reboots, attempts to boot into Recovery, fails, then boots up normally.
When I boot into into his ClockworkMod recovery manually, it doesn't appear to have all the options like it should. For instance, I cannot create a Nandroid backup or flash stuff from the SD card. Is this normal?
From within the ROM Manger I tried to flash a new ClockWorkMod Recovery but that also fails just like flashing a ROM.
I have an Incredible so I don't wanna screw up his DX so how do I flash a new Recovery for him? I can't create a backup of his stuff so I want to be extra careful.
To use more features in the ROM Manager app I decided to flash the Clockwork recovery image from Rom Manager.I got the message the image had flashed so I tried to restart my phone to make sure it flashed and to make a nandroid with the new image.Phone would not boot into recovery for me.So I pulled the battery (phone was stuck on "HTC" screen), waited 10 seconds, replaced battery and tried starting the phone in regular mode instead of recovery. That worked. So I tried restarting in recovery mode again.Failed again. Figured the problem was in the Clockworkmod recovery image. So I pulled/waited/replaced the battery again and restarted the phone in regular mode.Used the USB to get to my SD card and went into the file for the Clockwork recovery image and deleted it.Then I pasted the 1.6.2 RA back onto my SD card and planned to flash it.
But I have not been able to flash the image because all my phone does now id get to the "HTC" screen and stays there.Nothing else to show it is booting up.Finally pulled my SD card and put it in my card reader on my computer.Pasted the Clockworkmod recovery image back into the correct folder, thinking I might be able to at least get the phone to boot up in regular mode. No luck.Just goes to the "HTC" screen I see every start-up and stays there. So the 1.6.2 RA is on the root of my SD but not flashed. The Clockworkmod image is back in it's folder but not re-flashed.
I hit the top button. Flash Clockworkmod recovery or what ever it said. I then backed up my Current ROM. I then downloaded Cyanogen v6.0.0 cr2. It downloaded and rebooted my phone. But It went to a screen with a Triangle w/ exclamation and a phone under it. I then hit the up vol button and camera, and now I'm at the Android system recovery page and I don't know what to do next. These are my options reboot system now apply sdcard:update.zip wipe data/factory rest wipe cache partition wipe base band data. I did click to backup current ROM and wipe data and cache.
View 38 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone about a month ago and had been running Amon RA's recovery. Today I decided to try out ClockworkMod's recovery because I had heard that it will install packages without a signature. So I flashed the latest Clockwork Recovery. Everything went fine, but when I tried to install any new Roms such as Evil Eris 4.0, nothing happened. It just would reboot into the stock ROM.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try flashing any ROM I keep getting this error:
"E:No space left on device
E:Error writing BOOT:
E:Failure at line 393:
write_raw_image PACKAGE:boot.img BOOT:
Installation aborted."
Now of course I have wiped data/cache before every attempt, and have also checked internal and sdcard storage and there is more then enough room. I have reflashed with the new reflasher tool, so recovery version is 2.0.1.3. Also, I was able to successfully flash a kernel, so I am stumped. Just tried to use ROM manager to flash, same result.
Since I am just an average Joe with all this android stuff I didn't wanna get to deep in the process of rooting my phone so I went with Unrevoked3, now since their claiming you can flash custom ROMs I was wondering if anyone knows how to accomplish this in a safe and easy way.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is where I am now near enough after a day of doing this. I rooted my phone initially and it seemed to work, I had superuser permissions but it didn't seem to be fully rooted, I couldn't flash any ROMS and when in HBOOT setting, when I tried to go through the recovery part to flash the ROM the red triangle just stayed there it didn't change. I thought if I rerooted it may help, so I did, with the same step by step guide, however when I connected the phone and opened the windows push batch files the red triangle didn't change and I had to disconnect and turn the phone back on.
So now I have my phone which I do not think is fully rooted as the push files didn't work properly and I cannot flash any ROMS as I cannot run the recovery mode properly or get to use clock work mod as the red triangle is just always there. Everyone seems to have been having success and I just cannot seem to get anywhere. I have tried so many things from downloading custom ROMS from modaco etc. but I cannot flash any ROMS and now I'm just stuck. If there is a way I can properly just root the phone and flash the ROMS id be happy, I feel like I know what to do, but I just do not understand why when rooting, the last part when u connect the phone and open the push files didn't work, and also why when i thought the rooting had worked the first time, i still couldn't get to the part where I flash the ROMS.
Sorry if this sounds a little noobish, but is it safe to run any of these new roms without the SBF of Froyo? What happens if you brick the phone while running 2.2 OTA trying to flash?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a Droid 2 recently and decided to put the 16GB card from my O.G. Droid but before so I wiped everything from it, minus my pictures and videos. My Droid 1 is rooted and I wanted to go back to it but now when I try to flash a rom it doesn't work and it looks like a bunch of stuff is missing from the SD card or whatever it needs for clockwork to do its magic. So the question is what do I need to do to get back to where I can flash roms willy nilly like before? Do I need to go to stock then re-root or is there a more simple way?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just rooted and downloaded the ult droid froyo beta, and it runs fine, but can't change to any other rom's or flash any kernals. It just loops with the M then reboots back into normal phone. I have backed up this one and stock 2.1, but won't even let me get back to that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI looked over at the instructions and it says all you data will be wiped. So rooting will likely be the absolute first thing I do. After you root its stated you can flash custom roms. Can someone go more in depth on this? Will Sense not work anymore once the phone is rooted? Any other points of interest that is worth noting?

Here is the step by step guide I used to root my hero's. Worked flawlessly on both, just follow each step EXACTLY. The copy and paste idea on step 7 is a great idea so you don't get any commands wrong. I done a backup using Clorkwork Mod before I flashed a new ROM onto my phone. Now when i am trying to restore the backup onto the phone using CWM it completes the task but whenever I reboot the phone it gets passed the first samsung screen but hangs at the second SAMSUNG screen where the text is pulsing.
I have tried Wipe / Data factory reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvick and fix permissions. None of these seem to make any difference. The only thing that has worked in flashing a new ROM but I do not want to lose any of my apps /configs.
I just received a used phone that, when powered on, has Clockworkmod Recovery.
Why would this be on the used phone? Has the OS or phone been tampered with by previous user?
I cannot figure how to get to main phone screen.
I have unfortunately formatted my usb storage which contains cwm.zip and custom rom...now whenever i boot the device there's no sd card avilable...
I tried by inserting exrternal sd card also and connecting phone to PC via usb but in Pc also, I cant find the drive (may be coz of no drivers ???)I want to change the custom rom i have installed because it doesn't show sd card and cant find network so my phone become useless..get back my usb storage so that i can install another custom rom...
I was wondering if you could change the ClockworkMod recovery, and if so, how?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on a Galaxy S2 running Gingerbread 2.3.4, my baseband version is I9100XXKI1 and my kernel version is 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKH4-CL487028root@DELL136 #2
Using Odin3 v1.85 and S2 Root. (Superoneclick kept freezing on me)
My aim is to install Cyanogenmod 7.1.
So far I started off by trying to flash it with XWKDD Insecure, which I believe is wrong? However after rooting it, I installed ClockworkMod Recovery, downloaded the ROM and tried installing it - which is where the problem started - I kept getting the error in recovery mode 'Invalid whole-file signature'.
It just wouldn't boot in to ClockworkMod Recovery.
So after some digging around I managed to find a file to flash to my device for the CWM Recovery mode, tried it, and it worked. However, I still couldn't install Cyanogenmod from my SDcard.
I tried it a few times, wiped/formatted a few times and ended up getting my device stuck in a bootloop.
So, I've managed to get it out of the boot loop, and started fresh...
I flashed it with XWKH4 Insecure, unrooted, rerooted etc.
I've downloaded CWM again, downloaded the Cyanogenmod again, tried installing it, and once again it's gone back into Androids recovery and failed to install because of the 'whole-file signature' and failing to verify it.
I did post this in Q&A as well, however it doesn't seem to be as popular a forum as this one, I'm not really looking to wait for days for a response.
