I have the update.zip file meant for the Incredible. Before I brick my phone: I've allowed non-sanctioned software in Settings. 1) Will this allow me to use the 2.2 meant for the Incredible, and 2) will it brick my phone? I have the procedure to root the phone and install the 2.2 ROM that way, but this seems easier. Plus, can I then unroot?

I have had some issues with my Eris and Verizon is offering me a Droid (also, LG Ally, HTC Imagio, Droid is the best option here)
I had a few questions that I saw on here, but I'm not 100% about.
1. Does this come with a cable to connect to the PC? The Eris's charger was both a charger and a cord to connect to the PC, really like this ability.
2. Does Droid have the ability to run Froyo WITHOUT rooting?
3. Can you comment on some things I may find annoying or cumbersome with the phone?
4. Can you comment on the benefits I will get?

View 19 Replies View RelatedA new FroYo version has been released for the Moto Droid, found here Motorola Droid Froyo build FRF84B leaked | Android Central well this isn't the newest and most exciting news for us incredible owners but my question is how hard would it be to port it over seeing as the both are cdma devices, both on verizon and almost the same amount of pixels. obviously there is some BIG difference between the devices such as hardware but i was just wondering. maybe combine the Nexus gsm FroYo and the Moto Droid FroYo update?

My source says it will have the 720p as well as wifi hotspot, as well as the back end, speed, and battery life enhancements. They also mentioned that there would be some new htc widgets and better skype support.take it for what it is worth but i will try to get some visual evidence.if anyone is getting the ota on there phone please post a picture here!

Source says that It looks like this might only be a minor update and not full 2.2 from reports of people getting it already. We will have to wait and see to know for sure.

I am sorry to say that i have far less faith in my source after this blunder... now things may have come up such as a problem with the update or the fact that they are pushing out updates for the Droid x, droid Eris and the BB curve right now and the data load would be too much. What ever the case i thought that my source (who has been a very reliable one) would be right on but apparently something has come up. I'm sorry for getting everyone's hopes up but at least some good came of this.(leaked OTA) next time I will be a little more general with any dates that I put out.Verizon all but confirms Droid Incredible's getting Froyo soon | Android Central. So the latest rumor is that it will come out on the 18th of august.lets hope that this time it is true!

View 34 Replies View RelatedAs I was clearing my entire inbox, someone texted me at exact same time. Now that message is stuck and will not go away. It will start randomly streaming in my notification bar, and at the bottom of the unlock screen. When I click on the person's contact information, it always shows I have a new SMS message from them. If you attempt to click it to read it, it just says "loading" forever. Also, when I receive a text it will show that I have 2 new texts since that other one is stuck there and technically still "new" since I can't click it. This has been there for days. I tried restarting the phone, I tried taking the battery out, I tried some program called SMS cleaner.. that thing will NOT go away. I've received texts at the same time I was clearing them with 2.1 but I never had this problem until the upgrade to Froyo. Anyone know how to get rid of it or will I need to do a hard reset?

View 22 Replies View RelatedI am currently on my second Eris and I am having problems with my trackball not responding and something screwy with my camera not saving my pictures.
Right now I would rather pay to downgrade to another phone like a BB or even pay full retail value for a completely different Droid because I am afraid if they send me another Eris it is just going to break again.
If I call VZW and talk to them, will they send me another Eris that will most likely to break or will they send me a D1 or an Incredible?
I love my Eris but i just can't use it anymore and i feel like i will keep having problems if they keep sending me refurbs.
I want the flash 10.1 on my htc eris so I assume that I need froyo 2.2. Is there a guide to do this or will the eris get flash 10.1 soon?

The question I have is if you can root the eris if its already been upgraded to 2.1 and if you can how in depth is it. View 13 Replies View RelatedI've been using Nonsensikal since rooting, and I guess I'll need to find a new ROM. Anyone have any suggestions for a good Froyo ROM(non-sense)? I tried Tazz and Kaosfroyo a while back but they seemed a little rough, have they improved enough?
Also is anyone having trouble with their Nonsensikal ROM? My phone has been a complete dog today, it's like it's stock again. I haven't upgraded to 10.0 but am in the process right now.
Not that I am going to do this, I love my Eris seeing as its the "underdog" droid phone, but is there any possible way of BSing verizon or anything to be able to trade it in for the Incredible even if you are past your 30 day return limit?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've come to the conclusion that I really don't like the default keyboard included with the kaosfroyo rom. As cool as it looks, its just bad at correcting mistakes. The htc keyboard was great once you calibrated it, and seemed to remember certain words that you use often to suggest them over other choices. Is it possible to install the HTC keyboard on this rom? Are they any other keyboards worth trying?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe one thing I just couldn't get to work was Navigation in Froyo ROMs. It would always get stuck at "Searching for GPS." Well on xda, a fellow member told me to flash the new CFS kernal from Conap ) So this is what I did to finally get the Navigation to work!
1. Reboot into recovery and make a Nandroid backup just in case.
2. Wipe Dalvik cache
3. Flash new CFS kernal [GPL]2.6.29.6 CFS Kernel 9/4/10 - xda-developers(There is also a BFS kernal which is only if you want high benchmarks, CFS is for overall stability)
4. Once rebooted, clear the data of Maps in Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
5. Open up Maps and put in directions to an address, then click Navigate.
6. Once Navigation is up and running, it will get stuck at "Searching for GPS." Make a sandwich, wash dishes, etc.
7. Sooner or later it will get pass the "Searching for GPS" stage. (It took 15 minutes for me)
8. Navigation should be working instantly now, back out of Navigation, try a new address, and Navigation should instantly work without having to go through "Searching for GPS."
I've been running xtrSense and xtrRom for months with great results.
I decided to try a Froyo based Rom and my first two attempts (FroShedYo.V6 and Nonsensikal v13.2) both had the same WiFi issue.
I can't connect or even detect my wireless network. I'm 5 feet away from the AP which had great connectivity with the xtr Roms.
Settings..show Wi-Fi scanning continously.
Reboot...cycled airplane mode... nothing.
Even rewiped and reflashed.
Everything else appears to be working great.
It doesn't go together! Anyone found a fix for this?

There is a CELB 1.9 rom (aka erislightning bolt froyo) that has WORKING cam...the gallery still goes funky when you try to view sideways but the cam DOES indeed have a working preview!
