While I know you can use camera magic for your camera needs with a froyo rom..figured I'd share the good news. There is a CELB 1.9 rom (aka erislightning bolt froyo) that has WORKING cam...the gallery still goes funky when you try to view sideways but the cam DOES indeed have a working preview!

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I currently have Cyanogen Tazz v4 installed and I'm loving it. I understand that there probably won't be a fix for the Froyo camera issue until there's a new kernel so I'm fine with using Camera Magic as a stand by. My only issue is I'm a big Gowalla user and I've just recently been able to upload photos using my Eris, there's been a known problem with it for a few months now. What I want to know is how do I make Camera Magic my default camera for all camera related actions? I see in the settings where I can set it as default and it is checked but when I pick Take Photo in Gowalla I only get the options of Camera (the stock not working camera) and Camera 360 (also not working). Anyone have any ideas?

If I hit the track ball as usual it acts as though it's taking a picture though it's also nothing but black. What am I missing here? BTW, I'm on 2.1 and did a factory reset two days ago.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe are exploring the default applications in Froyo and we found out that the Camera app always crashes seconds after it loads.
Is this related to the no camera/video input limitation of the application? If not, what seems to be the problem? We already added all the additional properties to the AVD. We also disabled the auto-rotate screen option.
I remarked to my wife that the video shot with my new EVO looked like home movies from when we were kids. I then saw that the EVO shoots at 24 fps which explains the home movie video look. Will/can the Froyo update improve the video and or camera quality? It's not a deal breaker but when you have kids it's nice to have a video camera with you at all times. I've got 3 more weeks left on my 30 day trial period. I know the i Phone 4 will shoot at 30 fps and the test images I've seen are considerably better than my EVO.

Even at 90% battery I get this message: Flash is disabled due to low battery power, cold weather, or a running application that uses a lot of power, like Wi-Fi hot spot and phone. I haven't got a LED flash torch thing - I uninstalled that before updating to 2.2. Ideas?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated to 2.2 OTA a few days ago and since then my camera doesn't work. When launched all I get is a black screen that sits there indefinitely. If I kill all running processes and try again the screen goes black and immediately returns to the home screen. I did notice that a few days ago it suddenly started working again out of nowhere, but the following morning it was dead again. I've tried a full factory reset but no joy.

Now running an app which worked merely flawless on 2.1 Emulator causes the camera app to crash. I fire up an intent to launch it:

Actually I just wanted to see if the bug which made you receive a small image from the camera even though EXTRA_OUTPUT was specified has been fixed in FroYo. Unfortunately, I don't even get to test it.
I have had nothing but great success with the leaked Froyo that I've been running since Saturday afternoon. Battery life seems to be improved, haven't noticed any FC's, etc... until today. I know that the Droid has had some camera issues namely the 24.5 auto focus bug and the auto focus hardware becomes faulty but this is new to me. I didn't have this problem with 2.0.1, stock 2.1, rooted 2.1, Pete's BB, Fab's NexBeast. There have been numerous kernels on the phone as well and going back through my gallery nothing was blurry. I have wiped the lens, made sure the camera app is on auto-focus, I've clicked the button once, twice, halfway, a dozen times, etc and I've even tried FXCamera - if the subject is more than 6" away it is blurry. I'm running the 1.0 P3 kernel but 1.1 & 1.2 have given me the same issue. I've tried this at 1Ghz, 800, 600 & 400Mhz. I know this is pre-release but is anyone else having the same issue?

I tried setting the white balance and nothing seems to work. When I switch back to a 2.1 rom everything is fine. This is the only thing keeping me from staying with 2.2.

Steps to reproduce: 1) Launch Camera application. 2) Click on End Call key(it acts as lock screen when there is no active call) or wait till device is locked. 3) Camera application is paused and surfaceDestroyed callback is not being called. 4) Camera process has died and restarted again. I would like to know why Camera process has died after onPause is being called and restarted again when device is put to Lock state. View 4 Replies View RelatedI just updated to froyo and there are 2 issues. Video camera freezes after recording a clip, and the GPS wont work. It would normally detect my location in less than 15 seconds, but now takes forever. The only way to locate is using wifi or mobile network. it: Unmounted SD card, restarted device, took battery out for 30 secs and put it back. Everything works as it should now.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a droid x n have been trying to get hulu to play since I got the phone. I was told that 2.2 would have flash 10.1 support. When I got the update july worked flawlessly. A few hours later every video gave me a "this video is unavailable, if u continue to receive this message clear ur cache" so I did n nothing changed. I went check my flash n the flash player had uninstalled itself. I reinstalled n applied the update n got the same result. I tried other flash sites n they r not working(only flash games work, no videos).
I brought my phone to Verizon n they gave me a replacement saying it should b able to play. The new phone is doing the same thing. Is this a skimmed down version of flash or is the flash support crazy? Y will this not play after hours of flawless performance? It also freezes the browser everytime, full episode or clip, any show. Is there a Divx web player yet? I know u can use ur pc as a server to stream them through, but can I pull up movies from icefilms.info or alluc.org directly through the browser?
just installed the official 2.2 update for my htc Desire (2.09.405.8). Cant seem to get any apps to install to the SD card, even ones that are listed that support app2sd, google sky map for example. I have uninstalled and reinstalled this app.Do I have to format / partition the SD card in order for the native froyo app2sd feature to work?When I plug the phone into my PC I get the following folders ".android_secure" but its empty. When go into manage applications, and click on the SD card tab, no apps are displayed. when I click on the downloads tab, and then google sky map the "move to SD card" is greyed out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt can no longer kill another program after setting the countdown timer. I used to use it every night to listen to music and then have it shut everything down. My understanding after talking with the developer is that Froyo has removed the ability for developers to kill programs. Supposedly with root access there is workaround, but I am not rooted. Unfortunate, it's a great app and hopefully something that will be allowed in future Android versions.

Since i got froyo, when i plug it in, the red/orange light just blinks on and off and my screen turns on and off. Not sure if anyone else is having this problem but i have to be able to charge!

If I turn off USB debugging everything works fine, the phone charges and the DX applet launches like normal. Turning on USB debugging kills everything, phone doesn't charge, applet doesn't launch & ADB doesn't find my device. I'm running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Any ideas?
