View 19 RepliesThe Android 2.2 Upgrade List: Phones Definitely Getting Froyo
Nexus One: Despite the shuttering of its online store, Google's flagship phone is still first in line for the Froyo upgrade. In late May, a "very limited test group" received an early copy of the 2.2 software. Google has since been working on final tweaks and expects a widespread rollout to begin soon.
Motorola Droid: The Droid that started it all is set to be second in line for the Android 2.2 upgrade. Early reports suggested the Droid could see Froyo before the end of June. We all know what happened with the Droid's 2.1 upgrade schedule, though, so don't mark your calendars just yet.
HTC Droid Incredible: HTC has confirmed that its newest Droid handset will be feasting on Froyo. No specific timeframe has been released outside of sometime "in the second half of this year."
HTC EVO 4G: The EVO 4G is the phone most frequently pitted up against Apple's new iPhone 4 (hint: the EVO wins), so it's no surprise that it's on the confirmed guest list for the latest and greatest Android release. The EVO should get Froyo sometime in the next six months.
MyTouch 3G and MyTouch 3G Slide: The entire MyTouch line of phones on T-Mobile is expected to see Froyo before the end of 2010.
HTC Desire: It's not yet available in the States, but this desirable HTC handset is on-tap to get the Android 2.2 upgrade sometime in the next six months as well.
Can someone please list all the available froyo roms for the rooted eris? I know of couple but it sounds like there are so many out there.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently rooted with 2.1 and have cyanogenmod installed. What is the most painless way to upgrade to 2.2? Should I install it manually and just boot my phone to 2.2? Also, if I do that will i loose all my text, apps, etc.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI haven't updated yet but it sounds like there is a lot of problems. I have a stock droid x no changes. Will I have. The problems.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI updated to Froyo and everything worked great! Downloaded "Beautiful Widgets" from the Market successfully...no issues there...phone calls were great...and e-mail and text messaging just fine.
This was at about 5PM. I'm up late working on some projects now...and was on the phone talking to a friend and BAM service cut off and I assumed it was her since she was driving. Nope. It was me!
I then noticed that there's a big red sign representing no service at the top of the screen (Like a no smoking symbol)...and I can't do a damn thing. Lock screen also says "Searching for Service".
The Froyo update and what I'm experiencing here are close enough in time for me to point the finger at Froyo...but has anyone heard of this happening? I was enjoying it up until now!
Just want to say that i'v kept up with a bunch of news regarding the release of 2.2 for the Motorola Droid. Can anyone tell me for sure if Froyo is available for upgrade on the Motorola Droid?

Sample comment:
You know, I've wanted to throw my phone against a wall more times than I can think of since I upgraded to iOS4. We'll see if they actually do something about it, or if it'll take until iPhone5 to come out with a fix.
I've posted this question over on the Samsung Galaxy S section, however, it may be a more general query that someone can help with, particularly the unrooting query as I realise some other phone users have already went through the 2.1-2.2 upgrade. I've rooted and applied the "one click LAG fix" to my glitchy SGS running 2.1 and the phone performs very smoothly and reliably since. (benchmarks are consistently over 2200, although I realise that statistics aren't everything)
It is expected that sometime in the next few weeks in the UK (???) that the upgrade to Froyo will be available through the Samsung KIES desktop software rather than OTA and I have the following queries.
1. Should the phone be unrooted before an upgrade is attempted?
2. Should the "LAG fix" be removed before an upgrade?
3. Has anyone previously removed their "LAG fix" and can they advise if there are any gotchas I should look out for?
I have read through a nuber of posts but cannot seem to find an answer to this question:
Is there a way to disable the haptic feedback (vibration) from the HOME keys - I have successfully stoped this function for the touchpad.:
1. My phone will access YouTube but does not play all videos. It plays about 30 % of the ones I select - is this a phone problem? Is than an update?
2. I charge my phone each night, 11p to 7a and plug it in to the car charger for longer trips (use a bluetooth while driving) - am I killing my battery?
3. What will be the major advantages of an upgrade to Android 2.0 which I hear is rumored for the Eris in 1stQ 2010>
Love the phone...can't wait to try the GPS 'Where Am I' app on a local golf course (can it identify the bar also?)
Anyway we can upgrade to .6 heard people with .3 it won't work. do we need to reinstall 2.1 (1.47) and then upgrade from there?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI did the manual upgrade to 2.2 Froyo last night and 2 applications have stopped working
-1) Ringo Lite is totally gone and will not install at all manually.
-2) Open Home is installed but cannot seem to make it stick as the default "home" application. Everytime I hit the Home button on my N1 it goes back to the 2.2 (froyo) default home screen.
I just did a hard reset on my phone but it seems as if the bootup screen ((Freshhhh logo) still come up every time I restart the phone. I also have problems installing 2.2 OTA from HTC.

View 12 Replies View RelatedWhich of these batteries do you suggest for my Eris? I am still in the 30 day period (and plan to upgrade if a newer phone is released within the period), but after that I am pretty sure I am going to get an upgraded battery.
The current options are:
2x BATTERY+DESKTOP CHARGER FOR VERIZON HTC DROID ERIS - eBay (item 280468408194 end time Mar-22-10 19:05:38 PDT)
or
Innocell 1750mAh Slim Extended Life Battery
The Seido one is larger and has a reputation, whereas the ebay one is slightly larger, but comes with the charger so that I can carry two. With the Seido, I would probably just do a complete replacement and not carry the extra. The ebay on is also vastly cheaper. <--not too big a factor, as if I keep the phone I will not cheap out on arguably one of the most important parts. However, as a colege student, the cheaper price is nice.
I want to know how I can get a new Android phone without using an upgrade (I don't have one). I would prefer a Moto first gen Droid, or a Droid 2, but right now I'm waiting until June to get a new upgrade because the people at Verizon seem to think that two years is not too long for a smart phone upgrade, especially a Android phone. Any way I can replace my Eris and still have my next upgrade intact?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI remember seeing this on the Motorola Droid page but, would one of you smart guys/gals be willing to post a sticky on how to UPLOAD their OTA upgrade, should they receive it?All I know is that you're supposed to postpone the actual installation and save it to the card. or something. IF by some chance I happen to get mine while I'm home, and IF someone else doesn't beat me to it, I'd be more than willing to upload it somewhere (megauploader?) to share. That is, of course, providing I'm actually home when it happens.Or, maybe if it's as simple as saving it to the SD card, I could copy it and email it to one of you more tech-savvy individuals if I'm away. Or, maybe someone else would be willing to do the same. Perhaps one of you mods would be nice enough to post instructions in a sticky? After all, Murphy's law dictates that those who get the OTA first are also the least likely to know how to share, even if they want to.I'm not a COMPLETE idiot, and could figure it out with some basic instructions (I don't want to wreck my own chances of upgrading if I fudge it) but I generally don't screw around with cellphones too much anymore. Also, please forgive me if this info is "readily available" but it seems like this information should be a sticky.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOver the week I did some research on upgrading my DROID and my wife's Eris both to 2.1. I downloaded the files I needed and was planning on upgrading both phones. For the DROID I ran into a problem, my computer won't recognize the RSDLite program that I guess I need to upgrade my DROID. So I am not sure how to do it. I have BB v0.9 downloaded, or is there a better 2.1 available to use without rooting? For my wife's Eris it was so simple. Basically I downloaded the .zip file, mounted the phone and put the file on the sd card, then restarted the phone. I just followed the on screen steps, and bam, now my wife's Eris has 2.1.Is there not a way that is that simple to update the DROID. I am kind of jealous because my wife has 2.1 on her Eris, and I have the better phone that is now running a lower software version. Anyone want to help me out?
View 18 Replies View RelatedMy Desire was crashing, so I requested a replacement with O2 business. I upgraded to 2.2 last week using the software update link on the phone. Today I received my 'new' handset from O2 which still has 2.1-update1 as the firmware version. When I tried to upgrade I was informed there is no newer version. Spoke to O2 business, who told me that HTC had withdrawn it again. I'm kinda pleased that my 2.2 desire has been sent back, if there are serious enough issues with Froyo for it to be withdrawn. I did like a couple of things extra in the menu structures, but is it really that important?
View 29 Replies View RelatedGot my Desire just under a months ago. Had to return it for endless restarting & freezing 2 days ago. Got an unbranded replacement. View 6 Replies View RelatedI got my "dinc" in early August with 2.1 onboard and recieved the OTA froyo upgrade about two weeks ago. I like 2.2 (I think) but not all the battery-vampire crap-apps that came with it. I desparately want to root so that I can explore the full potential of this phone and hopefully find some options to extend my battery and get rid of the bloatware.
Unrevoked's website says v3.2 has been temporarily pulled and to use v2.2 "in the meantime". I've tried several of the methods that call for 3.2 using 2.2 and it seems to work up to the reboot step towards the end. Each time I get this "failed to flash recovery image" message. I've followed every detail of several videos and posts (including one from this forum) instructing how to root with Unrevoked, but the end result is always the same.
1. Can I use Unrevoked to root my phone with the froyo upgrade in place?
2. If so, how? Because what I've been trying ain't gettin' it done.
3. If not, is there a way to roll-back to 2.1 so that I can use Unrevoked?
4. Could the 2.2 version of Unrevoked be casuing my "failed flash" issue?
