View 2 Repliesi recently noticed that if i recieve an email with an requested read confirmation on my exchange profile, the phone sends this confirmation without asking me.is there a way to disable this behavior?I'm using exchange push on the stock android email app.
HTC Sensation
Rom: hypersensation cm7 v1.0
I am looking to make an application in which I have to read Email's from MS Exchange server. I tried to search on API's provided by Android 2.2 to do so but no luck yet. Is it possible to do so. Is android gave open APIs to read and reply email through MS exchange. As of now I am not very much worried about security and administrator policy, right now my other module of app is in pilot mode with few users. MS exchange read and reply can be a big boost to the feature list.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow can I stop my desire vibrating whilst I am inserting text, its getting very annoying now I want it to vibrate when I receive calls/texts etc but not every time I touch the screen?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new desire and was streaming a file from a webpage in bed last night, but the screen doesn't go completely dark, nor does it 'lock' - you can accidentally touch the screen and interfere with the playback. If I try to lock the phone it kills playback. I would really like to be able to lock the screen whilst media is still playing through the headphones.
View 1 Replies View RelatedTried to send a text today whilst the phone was connected to T-Mobile (I'm on Orange). The text failed to send, repeatedly. As soon as I got back into Orange coverage, it sent.
Anyone else had this? I'm gonna ring Orange tomorrow, just wondered if it was common?
Whilst listening to music via the headphone socket to my stereo i got a call but the music went quiet for a couple of seconds then carried on playing when id finished what i was doing i looked and id missed a call.
Is there a setting that will ring for a call and also alert you of a text when listening to music at all ? (stock music player btw).
Is there a way of "locking" the phone to stop it working whilst in pocket etc?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I receive a text message while on an active call, it plays the message tone at full volume - making it rather hard to hear the other person! Granted, this only happens occasionally ... but when it does it can be quite annoying. I've searched other threads and had a (what I consider to be ) a thorough look through the phones' settings, but I can't seem to find a way to stop it. Is this just an omission on the developers behalf? Or is there something I could change?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs "Allow Automatic updates" is checked I would have thought that the update should download ....... erm . automatically. Nothing happened. until I stated to download something else from the Marketplace and hey presto down came the Maps update. This is the second time this has happened. I can only assume that by initiating a download the Desire is synched with the Market, but this doesn't occur by just browsing the Market.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am the happy owner of a new smart phone and am gradually finding my way around it.
I was offered an update and the instruction book, p203, recommends me to check that the automatic backupis enabled by HOME>MENU>Settings>Privacy.
However there is no "privacy" heading in the list of options.
How to make the check?
Since Vodafone raped my phone a couple of days ago, I seem to be getting an error message saying that Automatic Backup has failed. Anyone got any ideas how to sort this out, or do manual backups?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I got my HTC Desire (Telus/Canada) a few days ago, and I am a complete noob when it comes to smartphones, this being my first one - but I learn very fast when it comes to these things.
Anyways - my issue is regarding reading incoming Korean SMS. I've already searched the market and installed Korean Input Keyboard which allowed me to write Korean. I've even gone to the point of installing the Korean UI through More Locale 2 to make my interface all Korean.
Anyways, the strange thing is - I can read/write Korean on my Android MSN (MSN Talk), but I cannot read incoming Korean SMS texts that may come from my friends, but on the flip-side, they can read what I'm sending them in Korean. None of my friends have the Desire (but they have android phones) so I'm left alone to search the net for a solution.
I don't want to "root" my phone - as I've found out that removes the warranty on the phone (kind of like jail-breaking I guess). I would if I've had the phone for a good 1.5~2years but since I got it only a few days ago, I'd like to avoid this. Sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum. MOD can just move it if they wish.
1. Can u use the Desire GPS without sim or internet connection
2. Are there apps for reading excel files or pdf files
3. Does the OLED screen leave finger prints
4. how does the OLED screen compare to a iphone 4 or HTC HDA2
5. What is the desire like for syncing with vista or windowblows 7.0
6. Can the desire run DIVX files
Printing limitations. I can print photos using the HP iPrint App, but is there an easy way to print emails and text messages?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi am currently making an application in which i require to delete an sms. How do i go about it. Also I may need to hide a sms i.e not visible in the inbox but i may choose to unhide it later.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have problem with deletion sms with messageId=0. I can't delete such a message. There is no problem with deletion other messages but first message taken from inbox has always message Id=0 and I can't delete it. I use code below for deletion.
Uri SMS_CONTENT_URI = Uri.parse("content://sms"); Uri deleteUri = Uri.withAppendedPath(SMS_CONTENT_URI, String.valueOf(smsList.get(currentSmsIndex).getId())); int count = context.getContentResolver().delete(deleteUri, null, null);
Do you have any idea?
I did some searching around but couldn't find any answers; my question is how do you delete the restoration images so you can keep only two or if you find you don't need some of the older ones etc...
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe phone will likely be a RZR Maxx or D4.
One of the biggest features that I found missing in Android was the ability to delete mail on handheld only, or handheld and server on a per message basis. (For those not aware, you can set BB to do either automatically, or prompt, which is what I like.)
I want to buy a couple of android devices for use by our sales representatives. However I want to put some files (powerpoint presentation, pdf or photos) on those devices which I want to lock against deletion by a user.
Is there a software to achive it?
Protection can be secured with a password, pin or whatever.
I tried to find such a program but no luck.
CODE:.............
I'm currently using the above code to create a folder which is used to temporarily store images that the app uses later. deleteDir is just a generic recursive file deletion to empty a directory. Is there a better way to do this than to delete everything? Ideally I just want a temp folder that empties when the application closes.
I want to force the User Data to be deleted on Application upgrade (to delete internal database).How can I do that?

View 2 Replies View Related(HTC Desire running Froyo, not been rooted/molested).I have the stock email app set up to send/receive email through my BT email account.This all works fine with one exception.If I am sent an email which contains an image, I just receive the text no image at all (not even any sign that an image should be there). If the image is sent as an attachment then it is fine, it is only a problem when the image is in the body of the email.I have checked through settings and have set mail size limit to 'No Limit'.Can't see any other relevant settings.I found an old thread about this when I searched and it suggested that this was a known issue and may be corrected in 2.2. However, I am running 2.2 already.This is especially annoying as my cousin has been sending emails containing photos from her iphone and finds it quite amusing that my HTC cannot even display them
View 2 Replies View RelatedIve posted this in the past but couldnt find a solution, so i thought it might be worth asking again, now people are more savvy with their desires..
I simply cannot forward attachments on emails
Situation
Mr Jones sends me email + word document + pic, i need to forward email to Mrs Smith.
The email forwards but when Mrs Smith gets the email its part of an unknown folder that you cant access the attacements with.
Ive downloaded the attachements properly but that hasnt worked.
If it makes any difference this is with Microsoft Exchange server.
I notice that my app's data on external storage (i.e. SD card) gets deleted during an "adb install -r". While this is normal for uninstall (and then afterwards install optionally to notice it), I do not understand why this is the case for reinstall (and thus for Market updates as well). I could have sworn this was not always the case.
Referring to http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/data/data-storage.html#filesExternal I am specifically using "Accessing files on external storage" on Android 2.2, but not "Saving files that should be shared" or "Saving cache files". So I am writing and reading data in "/sdcard/Android/data//files/somefolder/data". My preferences do stick.
@Commonsware: The problem is not so much with getExternalFilesDir() IMHO as I see my data is written where I expect it. It just does not stick. I am using a.o.:
public static File getDefaultDirectory(Context context, String packageName) { File dir;
if(mActivity_getExternalFilesDir!=null){//API >=8
dir = invokeGetExternalFilesDir(context, "fortune");
}else if(mEnvironment_getExternalStorageDirectory!=null){//API <=7
dir = invokeGetExternalStorageDirectory();
dir = new File(dir.getPath() + "/Android/data/" + packageName + "/files/");
}else{ //should never occur return null;
}return dir;
}
What I'm asking is if I were to install a new ROM/THEME do i need to uninstall or delete the old one? Or do I just load right over it? Also what's the best app to use to "unbloat" uninstall unwanted apps?
