I frequently get unsolicited notifications that one or more apps have been updated. Is there a way to disable automatic app updates? I like to check for myself to see if I really want a specific app update. Examples: some apps want to enable new permissions that I don't necessarily want; some irreversibly change or even do away with the app - e.g., Currents.
Phone is a new Nexus 5. (Great phone, by the way)

As "Allow Automatic updates" is checked I would have thought that the update should download ....... erm . automatically. Nothing happened. until I stated to download something else from the Marketplace and hey presto down came the Maps update. This is the second time this has happened. I can only assume that by initiating a download the Desire is synched with the Market, but this doesn't occur by just browsing the Market.

But now Doodle Jumper appaared as manual. And Zen Bound is big and it is shown as automatic.

Every once in a while, I notice my battery draining faster than usual and I check my Latitude settings and there it is. Latitude has changed it's location update settings to "automatically update".

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running into an issue, that I'm sure many of you have ran into at some point and found a way around. When I have my Phone Plugged into the Charger (For example when in my car) after a set amount of time (I think it's around 30 seconds) my screen will Dim to only about 25% brightness(But never shut off completely). As you can imagine, this is horribly inconvenient when I'm running Google maps or sprint navigation. How can I make it, so that when I'm charging the phone, the screen just always stays on and does not dim at all? And then when I'm on battery the screen resumes the normal behavior of shutting off after 30 seconds. I've tried setting the "Stay Awake" option under "Applications > Development" to on, I've also tried setting the "Automatic Brightness" option under "Sound & Display > Brightness" to off. Neither of these worked.

I have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S, and Google Maps came installed on the phone. Now if I enter Android Market, then Google Maps is automatically updated, if there is an update. I have checked it under My apps, but there is no Automatic update checkbox as for other programs I downloaded from the market. Is there a way to disable this automatic update for Google Maps? I would be great, if I could choose when it should be updated, because its not funny, when my 3G limit is exceeded with Google Maps updates.

1. Is there a way to disable the automatic screen locking and allow me to just press the on/off switch to lock? There are many cases where I don't want the screen to lock automatically - eg. listening to music. But then when I put the phone in my pocket, case, whatever, I'd like to press a button to lock it.
How do i disable automatic brightness adjustment? I can adjust the brightness through settings->screen options->brightness, but the phone still automatically adjust brightness according to ambient light.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs soon as the 2.2 update was leaked for the Droid, I downloaded it and applied it to my phone, rather than keep waiting for Verizon to push it out weeks later. The update process went smoothly, and I have been running Froyo for a couple weeks now.
The problem is, now my phone bugs me with the OTA update notification constantly, and the only options I have are to install, or install later. I have no option to decline the update. Is there any way to tell android to stop attempting to apply the OTA update? I am surprised it is even trying, as its already running 2.2 so why would it still try and update? If it matters, I have rooted my Droid.
I'm rooted, still running stock 2.2. How do I disable OTA updates? I want to keep the current ROM.

I know that this issue depends on my Playstore, so i want to install a custom playstore with no restrictions.
Did this many times on other phones and never got problems.
But this time there is a problem:
I can install the modded version of the playstore without any problems. But it self-updates every time and i cant do anything against.
In the Last android versions there was a "Market Updater" App, which you could just freeze to avoid this.
But in my Android 4.2.2 theres no such app.
How I can prevent the Playstore from updating?

Since I reset my phone a few weeks ago, I get "Application updates available" notifications every day at 8:50am.
I cannot switch them off. I have disabled notifications in Google Play -> Settings -> Notifications, yet I still get them every day at the same time.

I own a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I always have the apps that came with the phone wanting to be updated. I don't use them since I consider many of them to be a waste of space on my phone and would rather get rid of them, but would at least like to stop the updating for them.
Most procedures refer to uninstalling an app altogether. The following procedure claims to allow for disabling: Apps screen > touch 3 dots in right corner > select uninstall/disable apps > click on "-" sign for desired app. However, I only get an option to uninstall no disable?
