What does everyone set their brightness setting on?Normally I just have it on auto so I presume it saves the battery. But I've just turned it on 100% and the it looks alot better than having it dark.Does having the phone on 100% all the time use up much battery?

This morning I was running late for my lift and I missed a call from my mate asking where I was. I got my phone out and couldn't see a thing on the screen so had no idea who was ringing me. Turns out a plain black wallpaper and lowest setting brightness does not like being outdoors.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone found a way to get the incredible to go lower than the default 11% lowest setting sometimes at night even at this lowest setting it is still too bright and I wish it could go a bit lower also is there anyway to get the 4 home/menu lights to turn off? I really wish there was a widget for this as those too can be distracting when trying to watch a video at night.

However, I typically have it set at the lowest brightness to conserve battery. On my old Windows phone I was able to have the brightness adjust to full when it was plugged in. I've looked for this setting on the Droid and thus far have been unsuccessful in locating this ability.Does anyone know if this setting exists or if there is an app that would do this?

Will setting it manually drain the battery quicker? I notice in my battery usage that it says display is at like 74%. Not sure if that's normal or not. I have the brightness set at about 1/4 of the way up.

It doesn't matter if I set to 30% or 100%, the brightness stays the same.I can only adjust the brightness from 0 to 25%. I already did and wipe and stiched a phone.

View 12 Replies View RelatedOut of curiosity could anyone with a Desire let me know if their SMS app settings are the same as mine Unbranded Desire on the Orange network.In 'Manage Applications' if I look at the stock HTC SMS app (Messages) the 'Launch by default' section is greyed out and says 'No defaults set'.Same thing when I look at the 'Application info' for Handcent.The problem this is causing me is that I can't set a 'default' SMS app in the GOTO lock screen app. A pop up should launch in the GOTO app asking me to set a default but it doesn't and so I can only use the stock SMS app with the GOTO lockscreen.Spoke to the developer about it and he thinks it's an issue specific to the Desire so out of curiosity I'm keen to know if other Desires have the same default settings as mine mentioned above.

2. hit mail, then POP
3. Add email and password ( make sure wifi is on ) and hit next ( dont do manual )
4. Your setting up a POP email, so in the incoming set it to.............

I'm trying to se up both my hotmail and yahoomail email accounts so as I can view my messages on my Desire but I'm not having any luck. When I go into Messages and enter my email and correct password I keep getting the message: 'Cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding'.What do I have to do to sort this out? The HTC Desire online manual is very vague and brief with anything regarding troubleshooting.

I haven't put a sim card in it yet as I'm waiting for my old plan to live out its contract, but I couldn't resist having a play with the Desire in the mean time Because I bought it from overseas I can only seem to set my default language as English and then in brackets many Asian country options, eg English (Thailand) and English (Singapore). This would be fine except it is becoming frustrating when typing because all of the predictive text etc has many Asian characters in it and I'm struggling to write accurately.I've tried turning off predictive text and 'check invalid sequence', but it doesnt seem to work? I also tried downloading the application 'more locale 2' which had english (australian) but it doesnt seem to affect the keyboard. Does anyone have any advice regarding how to change the initial language setting? Is there any chance that when I put an Australian sim card into it the language options will change?

Well when I set up the widgets I see that it will have a certain image next to it for example with 'mobile widget' there is a blue planet type image, which I have seen other people have on screenshots via thread on here. However when I actually have the widget on screen its just boring black with 2 arrow pointing opposite ways. Anybody know why or how to change it?

1) When I go to people and press send message, the phone instead of composing a message my phone starts dialing that number.
2) In my Favorites even though I have selected a primary number to dial, the phone keeps calling a different one on the list which was set a long time ago.
Do you think its worth setting up several accounts i.e. yahoo mail, gmail, home mail? I notice its going to grab all the new emails and it doesn't let you view your old ones, you would have to go into the Internet and into the email account to see those old ones. Also I want to prevent it from syncing with my email too often and only want to manually pull in my email.

Is there something in 2.2 that doesn't like yahoo? I had a Samsung Vibrant, 2.1, for a couple of weeks and my yahoo account set up perfectly.
