View 15 RepliesLong time lurker, please no flaming. The Droid has an awesome screen, especially when set at full brightness. However, I typically have it set at the lowest brightness to conserve battery. On my old Windows phone I was able to have the brightness adjust to full when it was plugged in. I've looked for this setting on the Droid and thus far have been unsuccessful in locating this ability.Does anyone know if this setting exists or if there is an app that would do this?
View 11 Replies View RelatedWhat does everyone set their brightness setting on?Normally I just have it on auto so I presume it saves the battery. But I've just turned it on 100% and the it looks alot better than having it dark.Does having the phone on 100% all the time use up much battery?
View 11 Replies View RelatedHow come the auto screen brightness doesn't seem to change how bright the screen is? The sensor itself is working fine, as using the proxylight sensor app (free on the market) it does actually register changes in light.Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

This morning I was running late for my lift and I missed a call from my mate asking where I was. I got my phone out and couldn't see a thing on the screen so had no idea who was ringing me. Turns out a plain black wallpaper and lowest setting brightness does not like being outdoors.

View 13 Replies View RelatedAre these the same? I have searched the forum, and can't seem to find the answer. I don't find any "auto brightness" setting in the settings menu on the Hero. I have auto backlight unchecked. What exactly does this do? Is this the screen dimming? Sorry, I am confused. Uh oh! Must be a senior moment!
While I am showing off photos I have on my phone, the screen dims...how do I keep this from happening?
Also, relating to photos..when I go to "Albums", I have 4 folders listed...Camera Shots, All Photos, etc. When I take a pictures with the phone camera, they seems to be in both folders. Why?
Can anybody recommend a Widget for Brightness level that I can stick on my Home Page. CurveFish do one but it does not seem to work on Hero at the moment.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm finding my screen is too bright for me to read with in bed at night, even when set to the dimmest setting and with the background black and the text brown. I had this same issue with my old Palm Tungsten E2, but there was a program that allowed the screen to be adjusted to even lower than the manufacturer's level. Is there a similar app for Android? (Actually, I find my screen too bright at the best of times, too.)
View 8 Replies View RelatedOut of curiosity could anyone with a Desire let me know if their SMS app settings are the same as mine Unbranded Desire on the Orange network. In 'Manage Applications' if I look at the stock HTC SMS app (Messages) the 'Launch by default' section is greyed out and says 'No defaults set'.Same thing when I look at the 'Application info' for Handcent. The problem this is causing me is that I can't set a 'default' SMS app in the GOTO lock screen app. A pop up should launch in the GOTO app asking me to set a default but it doesn't and so I can only use the stock SMS app with the GOTO lockscreen.Spoke to the developer about it and he thinks it's an issue specific to the Desire so out of curiosity I'm keen to know if other Desires have the same default settings as mine mentioned above.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy point is to be able to call a 2.1 API if it exists, while the application should be able to run in 1.5
Specifically, I am making a GPS application which would like to call android.location.LocationManager.addNmeaListener if available. My problem is that this call takes as parameter an abstract class (GpsStatus.NmeaListener) which I cannot pass directly to Class.GetMethod (or my application won't work in 1.5). What I am currently trying is a) to create a wrapper class for GpsStatus.NmeaListener:......................
I wondered how everyone set their brightness - I was comparing my Hero with my wife's iPhone at home last night and the Hero was a lot dimmer in comparison because of the auto-brightness. I disabled it for the first time and cranked up to brightness and the display looked so much better - I just wondered what others thought about this and whether battery life would be affected greatly turning up the brightness.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I just got my phone two days ago and I have auto brightness set which works well. What I do notice though, and it might just be in my head because I read the issues with the pink hue on the screens, is the following. When using the phone normally it looks great, the screen looks really nice. When you place the phone down and have the screen timeout set (I have mine set to one minute) a few seconds before it goes to sleep mode it dims the screen, and if I'm on my main home screen it looks fine, however, if I'm on a page where there is a lot of white like a white background, it seems as though the screen takes on a weird hue right before it shuts off. I wouldn't say it is a pink hue, but it is definitely a weird hue. It isn't that big of a deal because like I said, it only happens before the screen automatically times out. Anyone else experiencing this? If so, what are your settings (screen timeout time, is auto brightness on or off)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust started messing around with the auto brightness setting. After reading up about it I see a lot of people are having problems with it. Mine too seems way too dim.Anyway I figured I'd give it one last shot and was wondering where exactly is the sensor? Im wondering if my case is covering it or something.Similar topic is there anything wrong with keeping the brightness at about 33% for most of the time? Burn in? Or is it just battery drain?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking for someone good with code, but I don't know if this is currently even possible. (I know root isn't done or even close) But here's a little request for someone whose good with code and making apps: I am looking for someone to create a custom auto brightness app that lets you set the max and min for the the auto brightness on the Incredible. I like the auto feature on the Incredible, but it gets way too high and drains the battery too quickly So I would like to have an app that lets you set like EX: 5% as the minimum brightness and 40% as the maximum. Make it so you have have ajustable bars to move back and forth to pick your percentage or something along the lines of that. I think if someone managed to work some code and create this app it'd be heavily downloaded. So I was wondering if someone could make an app like this?Anyone good with this stuff and want to try and work with the brightness settings and make an app like this or apk.?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have switched from Android 2.3.6 to 4.0.3 (ICSSGS RC 4.2) on my Samsung Galaxy S.
All I need works fine but there is one thing I wonder. The automatic regulation of the display brightness is very dark compared to the old 2.3.6.
Now I wonder ist this an Android 4.0.3 or ICSSGS feature? Is there a way to increase the offset for this feature a little bit. Sure I can turn it off and use manually brighness, but that's not what I want.
