I have a new HTC Desire Z running 2.2. It keeps saying it cannot contact my server when I try to set up my yahoo.ca email account. Is there something in 2.2 that doesn't like yahoo? I had a Samsung Vibrant, 2.1, for a couple of weeks and my yahoo account set up perfectly. Please keep in mind that I am a total rookie with these smart phones so be gentle, i.e. no acronyms, OK?

Never had problem before, and not sure what happened. Today, I tried to send a phone pic via email, and came up with this error message on Notification Panel:
"Unable to send mail."
"The account setting is incorrect (Yahoo)."
I press on the actual Notification, and it automatically prompts me to change account settings.
Edit Account
myname@yahoo.com
Hit Next.
Incoming Settings
Protocol > IMAP
Email address > myname@yahoo.com
Password > *******
IMAP server > android.imap.mail.yahoo.com
Security type > SSL
Server Port > 993
Above is my current settings, but I did not change anything.
I re-entered my yahoo password to see if that's problem, and now get a warning message saying, "Authentication failed. Please verify username/password" but that's my correct username and password for Yahoo.
Not got the phone yet.. but it looks good.. as an Apple fan i love the Iphone but im not willing to change carrier or pay what they want.. so i think the hero is my best option.. What is important to me is my email.. I want to be able to sync my yahoo account with yahoo mail and the mail on the phone so if i send an email on my phone it will appear in the sent folder on my yahoo mail on the computer and vice versa if you follow... With Android being google will i be able to do this from the phones email client like the iphone does...

I have been using my old and faithful HTC touch for the past 3 years and just 2 days ago decided to get the HTC Desire. So far i am very pleased with it and getting through the initial adjustment phase very well. I will like to ask a few questions:
First, i have a few useful work documents on my old HTC touch that was opened with tomeraider, are there any free apps that can open them on the HTC desire?
Secondly, i have already added my gmail account to the HTC desire but i would like to also add my main yahoomail account too . This is my most frequently used email account and it contains a zillion emails that i would not want to synchronize to the phone each time . I guess they will just take up valuable space in the phone so is there a way of only allowing new email to enter my phone.
Finally, i have ordered a new 16gb card from ebay, when this comes, can i just directly copy the data from the current 4 gb card to the new card via my PC and everything works fine after that?
for some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've searched quite a bit and haven't been able to find anyone else with this problem.I've been using the built-in Mail app on my Hero for the last month with my Yahoo e-mail account (it's a Plus account, using the POP settings provided by Yahoo)...with zero issues. Yesterday, I noticed that I wasn't receiving new messages anymore. I've got the program set to update every hour, and even when manually clicking refresh, the phone would not download any new e-mail messages from my account (and wouldn't send either). There were no error messages though, it appeared to be synced up (the time would show up next to the sync symbol in the top left corner of the app.I knew my settings were correct, so I figured I would just try to delete the account and set it up again. I selected "delete account" and after giving confirmation, the message on the screen said that it was deleting the account but it never finished. The program wouldn't do anything, figured I'd try to force it to close with my task killer but Mail didn't even show up as running. Next step...shut the phone down and powered it back on. Opened Mail up and the account was no longer showing, however there is still some memory of it somewhere as when I attempt to set it up again it tells me that there is already an account with that e-mail address.I can get around that by setting up a new account and changing one character in my address until all the settings are entered in (and then go back and change it), but I'd like to find out if I can address this problem head on (without a hard reset).

Afterwards, I went to Remove account, but was met repeatedly with "Error Removing Account: An error has occurred. Please try again." I want to get rid of this Yahoo! I am trying to get my verizon yahoo mail account connected with my dinc, but I can't figure out how. I tried typing in my email and password when prompted by the mail icon on the home screen and it says it fails. I also had an issue with certiain links on the web not responding when clicked anyone have any ideas why?

ETA: I just found that these settings work but I have to disable WiFi which is total BS
For Incoming Server Settings set the IMAP server to imap.mail.yahoo.com and the Port to 143
For Outgoing Server Settings set the SMTP Server to "smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com and the Port to 587
If anybody knows I was wondering if there is a way to setup a yahoo mail account for free on the droid eris. From what I've heard it costs extra to sync my eris with my yahoo account.

2. hit mail, then POP
3. Add email and password ( make sure wifi is on ) and hit next ( dont do manual )
4. Your setting up a POP email, so in the incoming set it to.............

I click on "e-mail", I type in my e-mail address and my password, and then I click "next". And then I get a message that says my username and/or password does not match. But I am positive it does, as I have gone online to test it. I have tried retyping my username and passwrod over and over again without any success. I can't get passed that screen.
I have Verizon FiOS at my house, so my e-mail is set-up through Verizon/Yahoo.
Can you add more than one yahoo email account to the phone? I've set up the first no problem but it wont let me add another.

View 42 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out whats going on. I have 2 DI for myself and girlfriend. I have my email (gmail and yahoo) setup through the HTC Mail Client and they work fine. I setup my other phone the same way and it worked fine, but once the yahoo account completed the process of downloading the inbox, I got an Authentication Error stating the login was incorrect. The login is not wrong and works fine to login via the standard web page. I tried to delete the Yahoo Account on the HTC, but when I went to setup again I had the same issue. Not sure how or why this could be happening. Any advice is appreciated. Also verified all the yahoo email settings on my working device and they are all the same on the other device with the issue.

Mail app that was recently put in the Market, I have been using the stock mail app to check my Yahoo! mail.Last night when I checked my Yahoo! Mail through the stock mail app, I was getting weird error messages. Most of the time it would go ahead and put me in my Yahoo! inbox but there would also be a message saying "login failed." I would click OK and then go about my business because e-mails were coming through. I figured it would sort itself out at some point.This morning, it was still doing it and it was annoying, so I re-booted the phone. Same problem. So I decided to delete the account and re-install it (a few weeks ago I had some issues with my Exchange mail account and deleting then re-installing fixed them.)Now, when I try to re-install the account it says "Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password." I have tried it over and over. I know I am using the right username and password - I just used them on my desktop PC to get into the account. And my Yahoo! View 2 Replies View RelatedGot my desire yesterday, having defected from Windows Mobile and spent all yesterday and today getting very frustrated! I successfully set up my various email accounts - except one which requires a SSL outgoing SMTP server on port 465. When I put the correct settings into the setup wizard it simply fails to complete the account setup. If I change any of the fields to an incorrect parameter, it gives an error but at least lets me save the settings and exit the wizard.
With the correct settings in place - it communicates with the server stating: "Verifying account information" and then promptly does nothing (it doesn't hang up, it just returns to the SMTP screen). The only way I can get out of the wizard is to enter an incorrect setting. This means that whilst receiving emails on this account is no problem, I am unable to reply to them or send any emails from this account. I know there is nothing wrong with my ISP (T-mobile uk) because I am using the same SIM from my Touch-pro where this account worked fine for the previous 18 months.
