I've been using the Desire with Froyo for quite some time and have 2 problems with it:
1) When I go to people and press send message, the phone instead of composing a message my phone starts dialing that number.
2) In my Favorites even though I have selected a primary number to dial, the phone keeps calling a different one on the list which was set a long time ago.

I thought that there was a default setting to change all numbers in Contacts to list a particular number (mobile, home, work, etc). I would like all of my contact's primary numbers to call home numbers and not mobile numbers. However, some of them are set to Work as primary while others are set to Home. How do I change this? View 4 Replies View RelatedSome Contacts defaulted to the Contact Details as a primary. I have tried changing the primary to the call number I want for the primary. It does not seem to work. Please tell me if I am doing this correctly. I press the people button on the home page, then I press the photo of the Contact I want to view. Then I press the Index Card Icon. I am now looking at the Contacts Details. I hold down the phone number I want to make primary. It never gives me the Make Primary Option. If the Contact shows no Primary, I can set a Primary. But if the Contact already shows a wrong Primary, I can't change it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOk. So I've switched from a Moto Droid to an Incredible. The contacts are a bit different. I'm having a problem, and HTC customer service says there's no solution. With the Droid you could choose to label a number for a contact (assuming the contact has multiple numbers or e-mails) as the primary number. I never figured out how to get rid of any primary designation, but that's another matter. Well, with the Incredible, the People app automatically designates a number as primary. You can change the primary number, but you can't eliminate it, which is annoying for two reasons: 1. in the dialer, when you type the person's name only the primary number comes up and 2. in the People app when you tap on the contact's photo to get the methods of contacting and then press phone, it auto dials the primary number only. I have several contacts who use multiple numbers with equal frequency. Plus, to top it off, HTC's People app listed the wrong number as the primary in many instances, which means I have to go through all my contacts on the phone. This is a phone-specific feature and is unrelated to Google contacts. So, that's my complaint today. It's purely about functionality, and it applies equally to e-mail addresses as well as phone numbers.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUnder each contact person it gives the chance to enter numerous numbers (i.e. home, mobile, work). then when u go to that person it gives a ton of options. For example if work, home and mobile are all listed it will give the option to call all 3 numbers and send message to all 3 numbers. Obviously I can't send message to work or home numbers. So....my questions is can I somehow delete the options to send message to home and work numbers? That way the the only options listed are: call home, call work, call mobile and message mobile. Also I did it once and forget how...but how can I change which number is the primary one on a person's contact list?

The question is, is it possible to change the primary line from one number to another in a family plan? I Upgraded mine last month. My wife's is coming due in March and you always get a better price/selection if you are the primary line.

When looking at a contact, you will notice that one phone number (and one email address) is marked as "Primary". When calling without directly using contacts - just the list that pops up as you are typing the number or name - the phone call will be made to the number that is marked as "primary" instead of giving a choice. How do you change the "Primary" number for a contact? So far, the only way I have found to do it is to delete all numbers except for the one I want as the primary, and then add the rest after. Is there a way in editing the contact to just make this change without deleting the numbers and adding them back?

Basically, in Messaging, I can see photos for other people, but "Me" just has the default Android icon.
Is there any way of setting a photo for that ("Me"). I suppose I can create a contact in my address book for myself, but I feel a bit silly doing that, lol. Surely there's a way of just setting a profile picture somewhere?
(My Google account has a profile pic, as does my Twitter etc - I thought it would have just grabbed it from tha.).
Just like to say thanks for all the help people have given me in the past, this forum has been great. My Desire is fantastic, does some odd things now and then but essential it is ok (like once the camera wouldn't work but the camcorder would? then it just started working again, the weather widget pops up quite a bit as does the desktop clock but I can just cancel them so no real big deal). Anyway, what I would like to know is when I pull up my contacts in the phonebook, there is a primary method of contact associated with some of them. I take it that this is automatically assigned the first time I contact that person. Does anyone know how I can change the primary method of contact?

For instance, my friend has just left his job and his old work email is set at the primary email on my contacts, so I want to change that to his hotmail email yet when I go to edit, there's no way of removing the old email and setting the hotmail as primary.

I know on the iphone when a message comes in the screen lights up and it shows the message... On the droid razr it only vibrates or makes a noise when on loud. The screen doesnt do anything and sometimes i forget that a mesage came in. Is there anyway to change it so the screen lights up or anything?

I never liked using the keyboard when you open it, I am so much faster doing it on the front screen with itap on the numbers. Does the droid have a setting like this where you can change it from a keyboard to a number pad and text that way? Help would be appreciated, I am a big texter and it will be a big factor.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLots of my contacts - especially my "favorite" contacts - have multiple phone #'s, which is pretty typical. So it's a nice feature in the dialer that lets you select a specific number - home, office, mobile, etc., to dial every time you pull up the favorites tab within the dialer screen. I by mistake checked "use as default number" for one particular contact, but now I want to deactivate that selection and have no default number for that particular contact.
I know how to switch the default number from one to another; is there a way to deactivate the default number and just have the phone ask me which number to dial, e.g. home, office, mobile, etc.? I've been trying to tinker with everything I can to no avail, and I've also been shut out trying to answer this question online. Only thing I haven't done is call Verizon.
I have my Incredible set up to synchronize with my work's exchange server. I have a ton of meetings, and I rely upon the phone's 10-minute reminder to play an alert sound before each meeting. This is very handy. What I don't like is that there is no way to set the frequency (i.e., the repeat) for the audible calendar event reminders. It seems like they will just keep going off forever every 5 or 10 minutes, even after the meeting has started, until I hunt my phone down, turn it on, slide the screen lock down, slide the notification area down, select the reminder, and select "Dismiss". And then when my next meeting comes up again, same issue. It was driving me crazy, to the point that I simply turned off the reminder notifications entirely. Is there any way I can tell this phone, "When there is a meeting in ten minutes, please play exactly 3 audible reminder alerts: 10 minutes before, 5 minutes before, and when the meeting time has started.

I've recently upgraded my phone from a HTC desire running Android 2.2 which allowed me to specify how many days worth of emails it would retrieve.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.
Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.
I got this phone yesterday. My friend also recently got this phone. We both have the same problem. Basically if we receive a message, we can read it. Close it and the home screen still shows a "1" on it as though we haven't read it. How do we set it so that once a message is read, its closed.

It seems anyone who I have as a friend on there is showing up in my contacts list, sometimes several times.It makes selecting a contact to send a text to a right mission. I was happy enough with Handcent until today but due to MMS problems I thought I'd give the stock app a go.

If I receive a SMS from Person 1, it shows up in the messaging app, if I reply to it, it orders the messages in a weird order.
EXAMPLE:
"Message received."
Person1: "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH"
then I reply, after the reply is sent ...it shows up like this..
ME: "REPLY TO BLAH BLAH BLAH"
Person 1 : "BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH"
isn't it supposed to be ME after the PERSON1 and not before.
When I try to send a picture message it just aomes up 'Pending' unless I send it to mysel!. I've phoned T Mobile and they don't seem to have an answer. Has anyone come across this problem or have a solution.

But there is one thing that is bugging me.
When opening messaging and viewing a message and then pressing the HOME button. And after wards launching the messaging app again it defaults to showing me the last sms I have seen.
So I would like that whenever I launch messaging it would always start in the view all messages.
The only solution I have found thus far is by using a task killer. Which would auto kill 'messages' when not in use.
So I installed Advanced Task Killer and set it to kill messaging when the screen is OFF. But it just does not work.
On my Desire i have chompsms and the stock message app installed. When i receive a text it notifies me 2 times and opens up the message in the both apps. Is there anyway to uninstall the stock messaging app that comes with the desire?
