Im setting up a Wireless Router this weekend for my Desire seeing as the Orange Unlimited was actually 750mb per month So is there anything i should know or any hints or tips i should know while setting this up? Any well known problems i might run into while setting it up with my Desire?

I am looking at purchasing a wireless router so when I am home, my phone will connect, giving me better signal (my signal at my house is not the best). I will be connecting 2 mytouch3g slides to it. I am completely clueless as to what kind of router do I need. What should I be looking for in a router? Is there a specific type so I can have 2 phones linked to it?

View 11 Replies View RelatedSo today i left the iphone world and got a HTC ONE, i like the phone so far but I can not get my phone to connect to my wireless network, I see the network but when i enter the password it tells me the password is incorrect, the password IS correct and I have even changed the password 2 times to try and connect. on the phone it cycles through authentication and connecting three times then it tells me its not the correct password. I went to a friends house and connected to his in one second.

But when i try to go to a website in the browser it will not load the new page and after a while it says "web page not available the web page at www.website.com might be temporarily down or it may have been moved permanently to a new web address. here are some suggestions : Check to make sure your device has a signal and data connection. reload this webpage later. or view a cached copy of the web page from google. So it will not connect to another website. So i went to the verizon store and asked them what was wrong, but then my droid connected to their wireless network just fine. So i came home and the same problem happened again with my wireless connection. Has anyone else had this problem and if so then how do you fix it. Is it my droid, or my wireless router.

I will respond to any direct questions in regards to my configuration.I have a brand new Motorola Droid 2 and a Cisco 851w wireless router which I have configured myself.I can successfully associate the droid 2 to my wireless network. It obtains an IP address, subnet mask, gateway, etc.Using an android market ping utility, however I cannot ping externally or even to my gateway.I've tried the following in the process of my troubleshooting:tatically assigning my droid's internal addresses (and explicitly naming DNS).Unhiding my SSID Provisioning an alternate completely unsecured, unhidden wireless SSID (as opposed to an original hidden SSID, WPA2/PSK configuration)Restarting the phone and routerLaptop devices are able and have been able to associate, and pass traffic without issue for over a year.I cannot really pinpoint an issue with this setup, as I am able to associate and browse consumer/business wireless networks elsewhere without issue. Searches for the above described issue yield the same suggestions I have attempted in the process of my troubleshooting.

Do I need a wireless router for my Droid Incredible to connect to Internet? Or will the phone connect to the Internet like my LG Dare already does (click on icon and it goes to Internet)? Can someone point me to a tutorial or better yet, lay out here how to do this? I want to sync or move files between the phone and the computers, move pictures and music back and forth and anything else I desire. I see the DLNA and the Media Share stuff...I just don't know exactly how to set this up. I could probably figure it out, but I thought I'd ask because I'm sure someone already has set this up, knows how to direct the rest of us, and ultimately wants to make our lives easier.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI know that this is sort of stupid thing not to know, but how do you actually set up the link between the Eris and the desktop when using Wireless Tether? I went through the Wireless network Setup and I even went through Network Setup Wizard and Network Connections and still haven't been able to figure out how to actually initiate wireless tetherthing through wi-fi. I'm sure that it's something bonehead that I haven't considered. The only time I've set up networks is with the help of ISP tech support or the ISP setup CD.

These settings are defined my the company I work for. My router works fine with both desktop and labtop computers however my various mobile phones are the WIFI issue. I've tried to use both a Samsung i8910 and a HTC Desire where I experience that the phones can connect and many download data for a short while. But here after the connection is very slow, the lag time is up to many minutes or the phone and router just disconnects. But when I use my mobile phones with all other WIFI routers they work fine!
How do i make the phone to function as a router?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter a short period of not using the phone, when I want to do something through using my wi fi connection, it takes ages to do anything, then when I go into the wi fi menu, the phone is always trying to authenticate with the router, so I have to switch wi fi off then on again and re connect to the router, then it works fine for a while until the next time I want to do something.

When I turn on the wifi using the inbuilt HTC wifi widget, it takes about 10-15 seconds before the phone connects to my wifi router and the wifi icon is shown in the notification bar. I am using a Dlink dir-655 router. The settings that I have on the router are as follows:-
wireless mode: 802.11g only
encryption: wpa2 personal AES
mac filtering on (phone's mac address has been added to the list)
SSID is hidden
Other devices such as my laptop and nintendo wii connect to the wifi router within seconds.
I've extended my wireless network to cover some weak areas in our house. The original wifi router is in my upstairs office, but gave poor coverage in some downstairs rooms, so I set up an "extended service set" wireless network with two access points, the original router upstairs and a Solwise homeplug WiFi extender extender downstairs (with a powerline link between the wireless router and the Solwise wifi extender), each using a different channel but the same WPA password.Every other wireless device in the house works happily between the two, but my Desire only seems to want to log on to the main router and defaults to mobile internet access in the 'difficult' areas. It seems to repeatedly try to get an address from the network downstairs, but reports 'unsuccessful' and keeps retrying.Any suggestions?

I got TP-Link 108M wireless router at home and all my 4 PCs and 1 wireless cam connected to the router with no issues for 1.5 years. But ever since I brought in my HTC-Desire last week, I experienced dropped connections almost everyday. If I switch the Desire off, then every thing gets to normal. Have you experienced same? Is this something I can overcome by set some settings?
