View 4 RepliesTo those who have rooted their Desire, this may sound a bit odd, but just humour me, rooting my phone, mainly because Im very paranoid about getting it wrong, and also it seems like a hell of a lot of fiddling for little gain. The only benefit I really want from rooting is to remove the dumbass demo apps Telstra installed. Is is possible to remove those apps on an un-rooted Desire? Would I be correct in saying that ADB could do it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis was linked to within the Froyo Tips thread above however the link connected to a Blog where the blogger no longer wished to support the advice contained therein. He also appears to have taken down his blog completely since then.So here is the guide to installing your apps to SD by default by using the Android SDK and your phone attached to your PC under Disk drive while having USB Debugging active, to have all apps you download install to SD by default.

So far I have discovered Set CPU, which seems great for saving battery.
Has Anyone else found any decent battery saving root apps that I could apply?
Also, what are your favourite root access apps?
I have rom manager and tried adfree android, but that didn't like editing the hosts file and didn't block the ads I hoped.
Recently rooted, and Market says there is updates, but it can't update them. The apps were included as part of leedroid 2.2f. I've read that I can use Titanium to uninstall the app (e.g. maps) then install again from the market. Is this correct, don't want to upset anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got my Desire for 3 months now. I realy think that I have done the best phone choice of my life. But now after installing/uninstalling/testing many apps I have capacity problems with internal memory. I'm using the method of installing apps directly to the SD. But I always have the low on space notification on my task bar. 75% of what I have installed is on my sd. The rest 25% is HTC Sense apps. My Desire runs on stock froyo and combined with htc sense I have the feeling of perfection while using my phone. Everything run smoothly. No complaints.
So what are my options here? Root? I suppose that I will have to erase everything on my phone memory so I would have more space. If this is the case then I have to ask for your suggestions. a) I will have to stick with launcherpro and I dont like it. No htc sense on non stock froyo right? b) I have many security and privacy concerns for using those roms that some groups have developed. Are they stable as atleast stock froyo? Are they safe? Is there a good phone resources administration? omg 12 mb for adobe flash player on my memory?
I have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.
My phone is telling me my internal storage is nearly full, whereas I have a 4gb microsd card which is not being used.
How do I move my applications to the SD card (or how do I have my apps automatically install there in the future)
So I just rooted recently and was wondering what are the best root only apps?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI've recently started exploring the possibility of rooting my Desire. A combination of the device's low internal storage capacity and a bit more freedom in general has lead me to this conclusion. However, I'm not sure I have the balls or patience to follow one the guides which seem to involve a lot of technical stuff.I'd basically like to be able to store all my apps on the SD Card and have the ability to remove some of the bloatware. Everthing else can remain the same with regards to HTC Sense etc. I've read about these one-click rooting apps, and these seem like something I would be more confident doing eg. less chance of me making a mistake etc. Do they work? If so, why do people opt for the longer method of rooting?

View 23 Replies View RelatedI just recently rooted/unlocked nand on my EVO and before I did the steps to unlock nand I had these "apps" that gave me access to a bunch of setting (one of the reasons I wanted to root obviously) but then after the nand and flashing of Fressh Rom, I noticed they were not there. Is this cause of the Rom? or could I have somehow messed something up?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I fire up Android.tether it installs fine but always says unable to start. I installed lampu and it does nothing also. I followed the 10 min. video after a lot of clicking the SD card, the one provided with the phone BTW, but there was one line that didn't look right to me. I copy and paste to the line with the pound sign, and when I hit enter it duplicated it with the pound sign in front of it. All the other lines would duplicate without the pound sign. Do I have to start all over? If so, do I have to remove root first. If I do have to remove root, how do I do that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to the rooting scene, I can tell you all the apps that are needed for a jailbroken Iphone, but I don't know where to start when it comes to root. Yes I did a "root" search on the market, and I am so ignorant I don't know what the apps are for or capable of.I already know root explorer is a must, other than that I have nothing.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI don't even care about the relatively short battery life. So I finally rooted the phone, narrowly avoiding disaster along the way. And now I'm like "now what?"
Obviously there is a wi-fi tether out there. And then there is the overclock. But I'm wondering what other apps you can use with a rooted phone that you otherwise can't. Are there paid apps out there that require root access? In other words, what's the big deal? Why do we root our phones?
This is an honest question. I'm not suggesting that it's not worth it - just trying to learn more about android. I'm a convert from Blackberry and I'm not going back.
please.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried installing "Black Hole Live" wallpaper from the PlayStore, it failed to install BUT left some sort of remnants in the "Apps Listing" that will not allow being uninstalled. It shows as 00B on all "storage" and is "Disabled". Being from IT, I like things clean and tiddy. This remnant refuses to uninstall, I've even looked everywhere it could reside using ES File Explorer, nothing. HOW do I get rid of this stinker??
Second: I'm sure this has been covered before, but I have to ask again if not. There are Apps that are put on the device from the factory, buried somewhere in the OS, that aren't "free" apps after a ridiculously short "Trial Period". I want to remove them, they're using up storage space and I don't use them. One in particular with an absurd 7 day free trial is PRESS READER. I want it off! I downloaded an Uninstaller called "Root Uninstaller APK", but it shows nothing that any other Uninstaller does and Press Reader is not shown.
How do you move all apps with root but without partition. I saw it was possible but I do not understand. HTC Explorer A310e.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been adding, and uninstalling, I've been noticing some installed apps that I don't seem to be able to add to my screens, or use.
I was wondering what these were.
They are: -
Rosie Utility
Teeter
and
Street View (Okay I KNOW what this one is, but how do I add it to Google Earth/Maps)
Also I've noticed that on the pattern lock screen. There is a message that says, "This phone belongs to". How do I personalise this with my name?
As above, are there any apps that can do this?A big bug bear of mine is that if im loading a particularly slow web page and want / need to be doing something else, if I open another app, effectively sending the browser to thr back ground, loading of the page stalls until the browser is called up again. It's not a big deal, but being so used to my blackberry loading pages in the background, I kind of miss it.
