View 16 RepliesI just got root and started messing with it and I was wondering what are some apps that are root only. I'm already running wifi tether and root explorer and terminal. Is there any more apps for root only?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using KaosFroyo v.32 and wanted to delete some included apps I don't use. I tried deleting the Twitter app using root explorer. I went into system>app, switched to Mount to R/W and deleted Twitter.apk--- however, when I go into manage applications, it's still listed there. Did I do something wrong?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been gone for awhile with life stuff, sorry this wasn't updated. I wont be updating this as I don't have an Eris anymore, but if you want the best info head over to XDA Eris Android Development section. Or if your looking for Android News or other tech news head over to: Hope to see you all in the Incredible or Droid X section. Remember.... ?Never take a person's dignity: it is worth everything to them, and nothing to you.? 2.1 LEAKS & RELEASES & ROOT
I think it's getting confusing w/ all these releases. Let's summarize:Original root: Filename PB00IMG.zip. An "unofficial official" ROM that provides you with initial root. Can only be flashed from a phone running 1.5. Not to be confused with any of the "unofficial official" 2.1 leaks that don't have root.
2.1 leak: Filename PB00IMG.zip. Also an "unofficial official" ROM that upgrades your 1.5 phone to a 2.1 un-rooted OS. New 2.1 leak: Filename PB00IMG.zip. Another "unofficial official" ROM that upgrades your 1.2 or "2.1 leak" phone to the most recently available un-rooted version of Android 2.1.
** By "unofficial official" I mean that the ROM's are signed by HTC and must be installed from the phone's bootloader. We cannot edit and repack files to be loaded using the phone's stock bootloader, as we cannot sign these ROM's ourselves...........
Is anyone aware of a listing of apps that require Android 2.1 to run (e.g. apps like Google Goggles, etc.)? I've searched the threads here at Android Forums and elsewhere and haven't been able to find such a list or site.
Now that I upgraded to 2.1, I'd like to "see what I've been missing" and take advantage of the new OS.
Is there a way to remove apps from My Android Apps list, on Android Market / Google Play? I have a few hundred in my list and a few dozen of those are apps I plan to never install again. I'd like to remove them from my list in the Market/Play. I've already uninstalled them from my phone.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHey everybody, I've looked for an answer on here, but to no avail. I tried to root my replacement Eris with 1.5, and HBOOT 1.47. Everything was going well until it got to the point of making a recovery, which for some reason, my phone wouldn't let me do. Infuriated and frustrated, I followed the steps to go back to 1.5 to a tee. However, I miss Vlingo so much, and i went to install the OTA 2.1, and it aborted the installation. I now have HBOOT 1.49.2000, so does my phone basically think I have the 2.1v3 leak, or am I just flat-out screwed? Done multiple factory resets, etc. and they haven't helped either
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn our alltel contract, all my family lines get unlimited data for $40 a month. My parents are looking to upgrade their regular phones (for free) and I was going to recommend the eris (from amazon) to them. I have heard some talk of not having very good signal and mention of some bugs and want to know how much truth there is behind these (especially signal) or if they were lemons, etc. if it matters all my parents would do is call/text (obviously), email sync, and maybe browse the web every once in a while. Bugs with, say face book, wouldn't matter.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI want to create a new app that's a plugin for the camera or gallery but I'm unsure how to get my app into the list of of apps in the gallery.
After you take picture, if you review it, there is a list of apps that you can do stuff with the picture like Facebook, email, PicSay, etc. This list of apps can also be accessed in the gallery by clicking on the icon that looks like binary tree on its side with three nodes (a dot on the left with two lines coming out heading right at angles up and down connecting to two more dots).
how to get the app I'm writing to show up in this list.
Since I have insalled Froyo (frf50) I have slowly noticed apps starting to receive this feature I do not know of a complete list or even attempted one. As far as I am aware there is no way for the market to auto install to the sd, so unless the developer lets you know in the changelog (which doesn't always happen) its a manual process finding them through the manage applications list. If anyone knows a better way please enlighten me. *** As has been stated getting the App 2 SD or SDMove in the market can quickly identify which applications you can move from your phone to the SD card Here is an important link for those that want to understand how apps are moved (and especially force them to the SDCard in order to save system memory:This list is also for those who are shopping due to low memory.Applications starting with #

Love reading this message board, XDA, Android Guys and all the other sites to learn more every day. However, one thing I've found is its really hard to stay on top of all the apps that are being released on what seems like a daily basis. What's the best way to find the GOOD apps that are being released? I know there is a "just in" section but most of those are junk. Should I rely on Android Guys or sites like this to simply post them or is there a website that tracks this kind of stuff.I used to be a fanboy but now I'm a droid user for life. Really cool to feel apart of a community and seeing dev's on sites like XDA interacting with normal people rather than the old feeling I had with my Iphone where there was "them" then there was "us" and all they wanted to do was profit off us.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAs Canadian customers of Rogers Wireless are now being screwed out of the 1.6 update for our HTC Magic and Dream, and LG Eve phones, we will not be able to run apps that require version 1.6 or above.
We are trying to help Rogers understand why we need this update, as they seem to be having difficulty wrapping their heads around the idea that these are not just phones, but are rather more like little computers.
Since in many cases we can not even see apps in the market place that aren't supported by our phones, it is difficult to provide Rogers with a concise list, so I am hoping everyone in the forums can help me to compile a list of the apps that ONLY work with 1.6 or above.
For example, I know of the following:
- Google Goggles
- Fresh Face (newest version)

View 21 Replies View RelatedI went to purchase the acircuit live wallpaper app. The transaction failed to go through because my bank blocked it, as it was less than 1. It is now sitting in my list of downloaded apps in the Market app (not the installed list) and it says purchased. There is an install option, which if pressed tries to download it again, but fails because it has been blocked. I don't want the app now and just wish to clear this from my download list. I have installed an unistaller app, but this just shows a list of the installed apps. Can anyone help me with a solution to get rid of this from my app downloads list in the Market app.
View 2 Replies View Related1st post, I picked up my EVO on Monday after having 3 different models of the iPhone since 2007. I am really loving android and how versatile it is. One thing I can't seem to find so far is a list of everything Google offers in the Market - apps, widgets, etc. Searching "Google, Inc." in the Market will bring a lot of non Google apps in between and it doesn't seem to load Google's apps first. Is their a website that has a definitive list of Google, Inc.'s offerings in the Market?
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if there's a way to retrieve a list of apps currently installed on the phone?Perhaps through an Android service, or system content provider? And once this list is retrieved, is there a way to filter down the list to only apps that have been downloaded via the market? I suppose another way to phrase that last question is:Can my app access the Downloads list that's in the Android Market app?
