View 6 RepliesSo anyways I was laying on the couch trying to figure out how to use a pic I have as a wallpaper for my evo. Then it suddenly came to me...use power point. So I went to my laptop opened up power point and copy and paste the pic to it. I change the background of the presentation cause the pic was black and I just centered it then stretched it from top to bottom then saved it on my phone. And lo and behold it fit just perfectly and it kept the same resolution without losing any pixels! So if you wanna try it that way you can. As for the presentation on the background I just made it the same color of the background of the pic. If the color is too crazy I just made it black.
Additionally you can do the same thing with a wallpaper on your PC and just follow the same steps except stretch it until it covers the entire background presentation. Also make sure you save it as a JPEG format too. I hope that this helps with those that are frustrated with the crop feature on the Evo.
I have a Droid X and when I take a photo in portrait mode, it looks nice and sharp on my screen...I can see the entire photo and it is perfect. Then when I try to set it as my wallpaper, it forces me to crop in on the photo which kills the quality. I just want to use the whole photo so it looks JUST like the screen right after I snap the photo. Are there any apps out there that will let me do that? Seems stupid to have to offload the photo onto a PC, resize it to 960x854, and then upload it back to the phone to that it will fit perfectly.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI cropped some desktop wallpapers I had so they'd fit the supposed Droid requirements of 960 x 854, but when I select them it makes me cut them down even more with a movable box... is there something I'm missing here or did I do it wrong.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to add more wallpapers to my Desire that will fit the whole screen without me having to crop or stretch.I have had a look on android market for wallpaper but i can only find live wall paper.Anyone know where i can wallpaper for the Desire? Also am i right in saying that the screen resolution for wallpaper to fit the whole of the screen is 960+800?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been reading through the manual for the Desire and it states that you can have a different lock screen wallpaper to the wallpaper when the screen has been unlocked.
However, I can't seem to manage this at all.
Does anyonw know if this is possible or if it is an error in the HTC manual?
The reason being I would like to have a nice bright lock screen image but a normal black background for when apps and widgets are all over it.
I downloaded pictures off the internet and tried to set them as my background, and it says "This picture has been set as wallpaper" But its just the default wallpaper. So then I tried the Bar code scanner wallpapers and Android themes.com and same thing!
View 1 Replies View RelatedA few days ago i downloaded the Flikie wallpaper app and was able to save wallpapers on the Desire without any problem. Since yesterday i have been unable to save or set a particular wallpaper. I now keep getting a message "sorry we can not save this wallpaper". I have tried many other wallpapers with the same message appearing.Has anyone else experienced this problem?? Is it likely to be a problem with the app and not the phone?Would it help if i uninstall and then reinstall the app?Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOdd issue I've found - I can't add a custom wallpaper. It tells me it's changed it, but nothing actually happens. I can change between HTC wallpapers just fine. I've tried, jpeg, PNG, various different resolutions (Including screen resolution and the wallpaper resolution of 960x800)...I'm stumped. Any ideas?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhy when you go to set a wallpaper, does it let you only choose a part of a photo by having a square to select the part of the image you want to show. I was hoping that the whole of the image would be displayed on my display, without it being cropped.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI feel like some inspiration! In the thread, you can talk about whatever you like, but there is one rule - you must include a 960x800 wallpaper in each of your posts. So, how's the weather where you are?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHopefully inspiration for all. Simple rules:
- No discussion
- Only one wallpaper allowed per post [your current wallpaper!]
- Link to wallpaper [or method to obtain it, or allow a 'save as...']
I'll start:
[640x480 as I have a Legend]
How exactly do I use my own pictures?
I downloaded an image from commons on my phone. I then hit settings->personalize->home wallpaper->Photos and then select the image when it appears. I get the confirmation popup "the picture has been set as your wallpaper" but when I hit the home key nothing has changed.
If I select any image from "photos" it does this, but if I select HTC or Live wallpapers it works fine.
I'd like to use a specific graphicpicture as the wallpaper for my Desire.
I tried resizing the JPG to 800x480 which I was told is the correct sizing for the Desire, and transferred it to the phone's SD Card.
The Photo app shows the picture in its full resolution and correct aspect ratio, which looks great.
The problem comes when I select the image for use a my wallpaper, I'm presented with a square box that is wanting to select which portion of the image to use as the wallpaper. I can resize the box, but only so far as the width of the display and the aspect ratio is locked and doesn't fit the screen proportions.
If I select the image this way, only a portion of the image is used as the wallpaper and it is stretched, which looks horrible.
I'm assuming it's something to do with the 'stitching' together of the background for all of the home screens, but has anyone managed to work out what's required of the original image (size, resolution, aspect ratio etc.) to enable a good looking background on the Desire that is fixed across each of the homescreens, i.e. doesn't scroll?
Or is there an app that manages this? I've taken a good look at the market, but nothing seems to work with the Desire2.1
How To: Create a Live Wallpaper | TheUnlockr
looks easy, I'm going to try it as soon as I decide what to do.
One of my friends has been having a problem with getting wallpaper changes to 'stick' since she updated to Froyo at the weekend. The problem is that she can change the wallpaper on her phone but if her phone has been completely powered off, when she turns it back on the wallpaper goes back to the default - it doesn't happen though if she turns the screen back on from standby.
She has tried removing the battery and saving the setup as a new scene but that doesn't help and it also isn't a problem if she just changes to a different stock wallpaper, it's only when she changes to a wallpaper she has downloaded.
Just a quick question about making pictures from the gallery your wallpaper? Is there any way to get it to use the whole picture. as it stands, whenever I try to use a picture for my wallpaper, it makes me crop the picture, and no matter what I do, the crop box never lets me use the whole picture, its like there's a size limit or something.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHope the title is as it should be. I'm not sure how to put this so I'll try my best. When you have a picture as your wallpaper do you notice that when sliding between the screens they move ever so slightly? For example, I have an image of the lion in my avatar perfectly in the centre of my home screen, yet when I move the screen to the left or right it seems to move the image and cut some off. Is there a way around this?I've seen it on some people's screen shots but I'm not sure how to do it with a picture that you decide to use as a homescreen. No worries if it can't be done. It would just be nice, that's all.

I installed one from the android market but now want to delete it from my phone.
Ok its my 1st post and Ive just bought my 1st smart phone. I'm amazed and what it can do... And I'm also a COMPLETE IDIOT as to what it can and cannot do! I have my wallpapers on the desire now no problems there... Now I want to ADD a live wallpaper or screensaver to my phone. I do things the simple way I connected my phone to my pc (not sync) waited for autoplay and opened up the sd card and added (by making new folders) my ringtones, pictures, videos and wallpapers all work perfectly... and I'm very happy! NOW I have my football team gif that I want to run on my phone in the background just like a live wallpaper... I downloaded the gif from a website that said it was a screensaver for my HTC Desire! I cant find the live wallpaper folder at all (where the built in live wallpapers are) in order to add my gif to it... I made a second folder and called it live wallpaper 1st and then screensaver and in both cases it does see the file but will only let me add the gif as a wallpaper image and not a moving image/screensaver/live wallpaper. Do I need to convert it from a gif to something else.
