May 24, 2010
At the moment I only have the default wallpapers that came with the Desire, and I was wandering if anyone can recommend any good apps from the market at all?

What I need to do with my Incredible is so simple and I am really amazed that this phone's photo application is as bad as it is. I have about 100 photos. I need to put them into individual folders or albums (I just need a way to separate them). I have tried everything but it does not appear as though the Incredible has this capability. I did a search and found some instructions using Astro file manager however this did not work for me. Therefore, is there any decent apps out there that will allow me to create folders (or albums) and put pics into them? I also need to somehow backup the photos (probably directly off of the SD card onto my PC).

I seem to be having an issue with apps on my phone. Basically, over the past few days, I cant update apps from the marketplace at all. The market comes up tellling me there are new updates, when I go to download and install them, they all download fine, and then start installing, and then all of a sudden, it tells me installation was unsuccessful and nothing happens anymore. Its doing this for all apps I try to download from the market. Help would be much appreciated. Btw, I've got my phone set to install apps to mem card as default using the force apps to sd work around thing that was posted on the board.

Just got my HTC Desire today! Trying to download apps via the android market. Selected the app, and it tells me it will be downloaded. I go to the download section and the app says starting downloading and just stays at that. I have canceled and started again but no joy. Connected via Wireless connection and also tried mobile internet.

I'm desperately after a decent planner/Calender App for the Desire. One that ISN'T linked to Google Calendar.
Ideally I'm looking for one where the planner has colour coded bars for events like a traditional wall planner. These would be linked to the calendar itself.
I've tried most of the calendar apps out there, but I've not found one that's suitable. Also if I search for planner, I get all different kinds of planners, just not a basic universal one.

I'm using the stock Facebook widget in my Desire, but I HATE the fact that it's white, and so bloody bright. I have a very dark styled ADW UI, and icons, but the FB Widget just sicks out like a sore thumb.
Is there such as thing as a skinable FB Widget that does the same thing as the stock widget?

Been playing with the handset for a few days now. Playing for the sake of playing. Its time to play on something I think. Ones that use the potential of the desire, free ones to start with. Maybe something that uses motion, like some of the iphone games I have seen. Some are basic but really addictive such as getting a ball to drop down platforms before it gets crushed at the top of the screen (not sure what its called). Also a decent brain training DS type game?

just like my ipod touch there are just too many apps for one person to go through in one day. I found this forum from google and was wondering if someone could direct me to a nice ringtone application (preferbly free). Also if anyone knows of any good wallpaper apps? That would be cool to.

I think this would be really nice while being useful. I did a search in the market but only about nine results come up. I would pay for a HTC sense weather like widget that was actually a live wallpaper.

I'm running a deodexed cm7.2 on my Samsung Galaxy Ace. For some reason I can't pick up MultiPicture Live Wallpaper from the market. It's telling me its not compatible with my device...Yet when I was running the stock 2.3.5 rom I had no problems installing it. Is it incompatible with 2.3.7, or is it something to do with cm7?

I have been reading through the manual for the Desire and it states that you can have a different lock screen wallpaper to the wallpaper when the screen has been unlocked.
However, I can't seem to manage this at all.
Does anyonw know if this is possible or if it is an error in the HTC manual?
The reason being I would like to have a nice bright lock screen image but a normal black background for when apps and widgets are all over it.

I am pulling out my hair trying to figure out what to do to get my Live Wallpaper to show up on the Android Market for a Moto Droid with the 2.1 OTA update. It shows up and downloads just fine on Nexus One.I can only think that it has something to do with the AndroidManifest.xml file contents. I tried all combinations for <supports-screens> including not having it at all. I tried including/ excluding the <uses-feature android:name="android.software.live_wallpaper" />.I don't like releasing my app over and over trying to debug this.

I was looking at a Samsung phone today that had a Live Wallpaper that I really liked. It's called Ocean Waves and it's like you are looking through water down into a sandy ocean floor. Nice reflecting light and ripple patterns. So I checked out the Market but I couldn't find it however did I did find it at another site and I was able to download it. The file is a Zip file which contains several folders and individual files. Could someone tell me how to install these files so that I can add this to my LiveWallpaper library? I have installed the Zip file in the download folder of my SD card.

Like the topic asks. Do they just go on your cellphone bill or do you have to pay via a credit card, PayPal etc? I've not actually bought anything yet but there are a couple things I can't "find" via other sources and everything for the most parts pretty cheap so I figured I would just pay.

Can you buy apps form the market on your PC? All the ones I click on to buy want me to enter my info on the phone and it just seems like it would be easier to do on the PC. BTW what happens when i buy a app for my current phone and then later get a new phone? Will the app have to be re-bought?

The Market is great. Use your phone, find your app, and install it with one click. (Hope THATS not patented!) But what about folks that live in countries not supported by the Android Market? Or devices that don't support the Market? Or the simple fact that some great stuff just isn't IN the Market? Get ready to open up a new tab on that browser and let's go for a spin. Before we get started, we do need to make sure our phones are set up to find and install apps that are downloaded from other places. Enabling non-Market applications is easy. Let's do it now.Using apps that aren't from the Market.Open up your settings by clicking the menu button or digging into your app drawer and selecting settings.Flip through the list and find the Applications section.
You'll see an ominous looking section called Unknown sources. We need to check that box. Now before you go all clicky, prepare yourself for what you're going to see. A pop up is going to appear that warns you about how vulnerable you're going to be by installing apps that aren't from the Market. What that pop up isn't telling you is that Google allows any application into the Market without a review process. I'll leave the discussion about the good and bad of this for another time, but anyone could write a nasty app and put it on the market just as easy as hosting it somewhere else. Google is just being diligent and covering themselves, and I don't blame them. Just be careful what you download, and where you get it from and you should be OK.

I downloaded pictures off the internet and tried to set them as my background, and it says "This picture has been set as wallpaper" But its just the default wallpaper. So then I tried the Bar code scanner wallpapers and Android themes.com and same thing!

I can't buy apps on the market, because I live in Luxembourg. I know about SlideMe which is an alternative for me to be able to buy some apps. I want to pay for some apps that I like and do not want to download them on some warez site. Does anyone know about an Internet site or a better alternate Marketplace than SlideMe where I can buy apps for my Hero?

This seems like an odd question, but how do I search for apps on the Android Market website? I don't have an Android phone yet, but I soon will. I want to see what apps are available for the Android phones. How do I search for them (looking for SplashID and a few other from my Palm days).

I'm new so I'm probably missing something here but I can't seem to buy any apps from Android Market. I'm using a google apps domain which is synced to my Incredible. I registered for Google checkout this morning and I can login to google checkout using my domain.com email address. I go to buy an app and it asks to log in to my google account. I enter my info and it shows me that my calendar, contacts, and email are syncing. It takes me back to the buy button which puts me into a loop.

is there some way to retrieve the manifest.xml of an application from the market, without installing the application? I think the official Market Application somehow get this file (or at least parts of it) to show needed permissions, etc. before installing. I'd be interested in seeing the IntentFilters defined by applications and their activities and processing this information in my application.
