HTC Desire : Need App To Video Playpack

New to the DEsire, and so far i'm very happy with it However, i am finding it difficult to watch a video that i copied from my pc to the sd card. I assumed it would act similarly to the way music is reconised and then sat in your library waiting for playpack, but it doesn't seem to be 'auto-detecting'. I'm assuming it's user error (Me :P), should i be copying the files to specific location on the SD Card / is there a certain app i shouldn't installed...something other than this?

I'm new to the Android OS having been a Symbian (2nd phone is a Nokia N97) and Windows Mobile user previously. My question regards a copy of Family Guy (Something, Something, Something, Dark Side) which I purchased yesterday. The standard DVD also comes with a digital copy on the DVD which, when inserted into the drive brings up a choice of transferring the file to my computer to be copied over to my Desire as either a iTunes file or a Windows Media Video (WMV).Ideally I want to avoid the iTunes route as currently I have no use for that program on my system so I would like to be able to use the WMV version. When I copied the file to my Desire, it didn't play and the phone didn't seem to recognise it. Can anyone please give me advice on how to play a WMV on my Desire?

Can anyone help? everytime I play a Youtube video on my Desire it plays for a couple of seconds and then Stops with the error message 'Sorry this video cannot be played, there was a problem while playing' I have tried allsorts to try and rectify it without success.

Does the Desire have a front camera for video calling? I just noticed that theres no option to make a video call from my phoen book. oh dear, someone please tell me that the camera is so small that i can't see it?

I was just wondering how people play their video files as I cannot find a media player on the Desire. I am currently using a file manager app and then selecting the file, but I would have thought the phone had some kind of standard app installed that would let me browse and play my content.

I have tried to transfer an mp4 (Terminator salvation) from a laptop to my phone and when I play it, I get the 'cannot play video' message.I thought that I may have done something wrong when transferring so today I also tested it via Bluetooth with a friend who also has the desire but on o2 (I am with Orange). I turned on the ftp server and it took the file via, went to 100% completing the BT transfer but again, when I try and play it I get the exact same message. This file was also mp4. This file works on his Desire (it is a 26 minute cartoon called the Boondocks) but not mine. I cannot understand the inconsistency as you would think that the same would apply to both mine and his.My last phone was a n95 and I am not someone who regularly takes an interest in new gadgets coming out, making this big jump (only ever used Nokia's and Ericson's before the desire). However, I have had a new phone (always top of the range through upgrade) every 12/18 months since 2001 so I am very much used to adjusting to new phones, albeit not the 'smartphone' generation. So I am not a technophobe but nor am I a tech geek. But I cannot for the life of me work this one out.

I am desperately searching for a video player for my Desire. As you know there does not seem to be any stock Player. I use doubleTwist at the mo. But it does not seem to find all the videos (mp4) in my sd card. Any suggestions I will be grateful. I dont mind paying a small fee if this gets me some thing good.

with any other device i have allways transfered my video files to my ps3 to watch them on the big screen . but i cannot do it with this phone it will copy photos no prob but not my video.

I'm looking at buying some of these Vuzix iWear - buy at Firebox.com but they need video out. Do Desire's have this function? Also, is there any reason NOT to buy these? Has anyone tried them?

Does anyone know if the Desire can resize videos to send as mms? My other phones used to do this automatically, but when I try to send the video that i recorded from my phone it says its too large. if the phone can't do it, is there an app that can do this?

I'm a long term Nokia user and have recently joined android and gotta say I love it so far just got a question about the video capture, I remember seeing reviews where it was mentioned that an update was likely that would enable hd video capture is there any truth in this or is it purely an educated guess due to the snapdragon processor supporting hd? Also could anyone help me get the best from the settings we currently have I recently made a video in a nightclub and it almost looks as if it's in slow motion! This is the only area I feel my old Nokia is currently still no top.

I have had my HTC Desire for about a month now and have got to grips with it apart from one thing.For the life of me i cant get it to send my video clips in Multi Media Messages? I keep getting the WARNING - Message size limit reached.Some of these clips were between 10-20 seconds long.I dont think it's the camcorder settings af i have reset to default.I can attach them in an Email no problem.

In the camcorder application, I have chosen to record the video's in MP4. However, when you then side load them to the PC or what-not they appear as 3GPP or something. Is 3GPP a version of MP4 or is the camcorder telling fibs? If it's not, how do I record in plain old MP4?

From my understanding the Desire was originally supposed to have HD video recording, but this was ditched. Is it possible that a future firmware upgrade could allow HD recording, or the phone physically incapable of recording in HD?

I'm not on the 2.2 update yet, but some videos I've recorded don't have a thumbnail in the gallery, nor do they play back. I've copied them onto my computer, they have the correct file size but I think something has been corrupted when saving the videos on the phone. Any idea if there is an app that could fix the issue?

Well i think I'm finally losing the plot, i could have sworn that ive taken video before on my phone (Desire 2.1 unrooted), hit the share button and uploaded it to Facebook, but no matter what ive tried i cant get it to do i anymore, please can someone test on their phone? Also the recording formats on the video are MP4 and 3GP, yet when i record in MP4 the file extension it still 3GP, is this right, or has my phone also had a mental breakdown

Has anyone noticed how the video quality such as on you tube is really bad compared to the I-phone even though the Desire's supposed to have more higher resolution? My bro's got the I-phone and I tested the desire with his phone. Went into certain you tube videos, using same wi-fi connection in same room etc etc and also tried using 3G (both on t-mob) and still his video quality on I-phone was miles better and clearer!

When I use the camera function on my Desire I have the ability to turn the flash for the camera on or off. When using video however, the flash icon has a cross through it and I am unable to turn it on. Is there a way to turn on the LED/flash while recording video in low light situations?

I've seen a thread which covers this topic - but I've started a new one, as the question is slightly different.I've just downloaded the Act 1 video player (demo) from the Android Market to see if the sound and video are out of sync when using this media player - and they're not. The video plays perfectly. The downside is that to play more than 2 minutes, I have to buy the app - even though it's not a lot of money ($1.79), that's beside the point! I see that many people with this sync fault have reported it to HTC, but we're all waiting for a firmware update to resolve it. I think giving this app for free would resolve most people's issues!
