Can anyone help? everytime I play a Youtube video on my Desire it plays for a couple of seconds and then Stops with the error message 'Sorry this video cannot be played, there was a problem while playing' I have tried allsorts to try and rectify it without success.

I'm new to the Android OS having been a Symbian (2nd phone is a Nokia N97) and Windows Mobile user previously. My question regards a copy of Family Guy (Something, Something, Something, Dark Side) which I purchased yesterday. The standard DVD also comes with a digital copy on the DVD which, when inserted into the drive brings up a choice of transferring the file to my computer to be copied over to my Desire as either a iTunes file or a Windows Media Video (WMV).Ideally I want to avoid the iTunes route as currently I have no use for that program on my system so I would like to be able to use the WMV version. When I copied the file to my Desire, it didn't play and the phone didn't seem to recognise it. Can anyone please give me advice on how to play a WMV on my Desire?

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got my new desire. Love it. Trying to watch some video on it. The videos came from get_iplayer (if that matters) and are 640x360 H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. I've tried several players, Meridian, mVideoPlayer, PlaysVideo, Media Player, built in player and I get audio but no video. Is it the video codec or are the dimensions too great and need to be scaled down a bit.

That lag isn't present when I watch it on my laptop (well, the typical 53ms lag yes, but nothing else). I've tried multiple videos and all the same results. Is there a video player I should test this out with, using 5-10 minute clips?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen playing music or watching video using the headphones that came with it, there is a lot of crackling and hissing. If you go back to the home screen, there is a high pitched whistling sound (almost as if you've placed a microphone next to a speaker and are getting feedback as a result.) I can't seem to get any FM radio stations either. I've tried three different sets of headphones as well as the set bundled with the Desire and all have the same problem. Is this a known issue or should I phone O2 and get it replaced.

youtube videos play for 5 minutes then stop suddenly. my wifi connection is constant and fast.

I buy a lot of vinyl for djing and therefore like to browse online vinyl stores for new releases. Most of these sites have mp3 samples that when clicked open Windows media player and then play the sample. While browsing these sites on the Desire when i click on the MP3 icon nothing happens. I've tried to watch video on YouTube through WiFi (both at home and at work - lunchtimes, obviously ) and have found that the majority of videos bring an error message which reads "Sorry - unable to play video". If I turn off WiFi and try through 3G, they play fine...

I was looking forward to being able to play flash videos, after trying to play a few (from entensity.net) I can see the player, but pressing play results in only a yellow exclamation mark... Is there a solution to this or is flash support not quite there yet on android? (Btw according to the settings menu on the phone all software is up to date.)

The sound works fine on the phone but the problem seems to be with the video. Has anyone else experienced this? It happened on both Windows 7 and XP. I have noticed the file type is .3gp. Does this need converting or something?

Sometimes it did play music from my phone and most other times it said 'Error'. Is there a way to so it play's all the time when connecting? I Don't want to play through a 3.5 jack as USB also charges your phone while playing your music.
View 4 Replies View RelatedLiking the phone but the video playback is driving me nuts. I transfer Mp4s to the SD card, a new folder called Video and the phone sees them but only plays the audio. These Mp4s all work on my iPod Touch so is there something not right about them for Android? ie do they need reconverting?
They all have .mp4 as extensions and I have tried having the new video file on it's own on the SD card as well as trying it in the DCIM folder as suggested on another forum. Cheers for any help as I'm thinking this is all too much of a faff and I will have to get the iPhone. Shame as the HTC deal with Orange is very cheap.
i have a htc desire, my mate who has a iphone browses to the site tvcatchup and can stream live tv channels on his phone, i can access this site no problem from my desire but when i choose a channel it says the phone hasnt got any software compatible to play the files, i noticed in my download section this site is trying to download .m3u8 files, is there any free software players for my phone i can download so i can use this site?

I had no problems before but now my phone refuses to sync the account and I'm constantly getting an error telling me that 'syncing is unavailable at the moment'. I've removed the account and added it back on but have had no luck. When I try to re-enter the password I'm told it's wrong even though I know it isn't. I can't see what I'm doing wrong.

Having come from a N97 the one feature i REALLY miss is the FM transmitter, was brilliant, i guess i'm trying to recreate it via BT.
