HTC Desire :: Video Recording Sound Very Low
Apr 21, 2010Do you find that when you take videos using the Desire the sound is really poor (very low)? Initially I thought it was because I had my finger covering the mic (bottom right).

View 6 RepliesHave you ever tryied to make a video when you're at a concert? (I'm not speaking about a classical concert!)
I did and the result was horrible for the sound part. Is there a trick when I want a good quality audio? just keeping the Phone in the air is not enough
Wish there was a way to control the sound input while video recording. Anything above a normal conversation sounds horrible during playback. Anyone know of an app that might handle that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom my understanding the Desire was originally supposed to have HD video recording, but this was ditched. Is it possible that a future firmware upgrade could allow HD recording, or the phone physically incapable of recording in HD?
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I use the camera function on my Desire I have the ability to turn the flash for the camera on or off. When using video however, the flash icon has a cross through it and I am unable to turn it on. Is there a way to turn on the LED/flash while recording video in low light situations?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThis has been annoying me from the very first time I used the HTC Desire's camcorder. While being able to focus before recording, it will not autofocus or let you tap-to-focus while recording. Is there anything we can do with this? I mean, it can't be that hard to enable autofocus while recording?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I want to record a video its saying I can record for about 1 minute 20 seconds. This is on HD 720p quality. I know its the highest setting but I should be able to record longer than this shouldn't I? I have 5.91 GB left of free space so just wondering if anyone has any ideas? The phone storage thats left is 1.01 GB. Could it be that its trying to save to the phone instead of the memory card, and if so how do I change that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've seen a thread which covers this topic - but I've started a new one, as the question is slightly different.I've just downloaded the Act 1 video player (demo) from the Android Market to see if the sound and video are out of sync when using this media player - and they're not. The video plays perfectly. The downside is that to play more than 2 minutes, I have to buy the app - even though it's not a lot of money ($1.79), that's beside the point! I see that many people with this sync fault have reported it to HTC, but we're all waiting for a firmware update to resolve it. I think giving this app for free would resolve most people's issues!
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhile watching videos on youtube on my HTC Desire, I noticed a lag in the sound vs. the video. That lag isn't present when I watch it on my laptop (well, the typical 53ms lag yes, but nothing else). I've tried multiple videos and all the same results. Is there a video player I should test this out with, using 5-10 minute clips?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having problems getting videos to play on my HTC Desire. I have converted my .avi files into Mpeg4 so as the device could read them ok. I'm using the free programme 'Handbrake' to convert the files. And it does so with no problems. The new mpeg4 files play with sound and image.
The problem occurs when I transfer the images onto the phones SD card. The video files are picked up via the camera folder (where you can play videos as there is no actual video player) as well as on the video player app I downloaded today - 'mVideoPlayer', without any problems but when I click to play the video the screen is black and only the sound works (even though on my pc the file played fine).
Do I need to download a codec or something? I would have thought that as the Desire was compatible with mpeg4 files that it would play them straight off without having to add software.
I want to add a feature into my app where you can record sound and then use it within the app (MediaPlayer)
How can I do this?
-First, how do I record sound?
-Second, how do I get it into a Mediaplayer?
-Does it have to be saved? or can it go from being recorded -> into app straight away...
I would like to record a business meeting a few days from now onto my phone.
Would be handy I think, so the need to type everything down doesn't exist.
What app do you recommend?
In my application, RTSP streams play only sound without video, but if i specify the video path as a local file, it plays the video and audio.
How would i get the RTSP streams to show video?
CODE:.................
I'm trying to record a new ring tone but when I press the record button nothing happens. I know the mic is working on the phone because voice activation etc. works. Anyone know of a way to get it to record sound?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHey, I have a problem with android programing when I try to record and then play the file that was just recored. I can both record and play the sound but the quality stinks. Its not just bad is really hard to listen to and sound abit like its a computer generated voice. I use the andriod SDK-emulator. The code that sets up the recording looks like this;
MediaRecorder recorder = new MediaRecorder();
recorder.setAudioSource(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC);
recorder.setOutputFormat(MediaRecorder.OutputFormat.RAW_AMR);
recorder.setAudioEncoder(MediaRecorder.AudioEncoder.AMR_NB);
recorder.setOutputFile(path);
recorder.prepare();
recorder.start();
And the code playing the file later looks like this;
MediaPlayer mp = new MediaPlayer(); mp.reset();
mp.setDataSource(path); mp.prepare(); mp.start();
I don't know what part that makes the audio file sound really bad or if its just the emulator that makes it bad and that it would work on a real phone.
I am pulling my hair on this problem from a long time and haven't found a solution yet. I am running Android demo program - APIDemo which is available in android source. For my dev I am using ubuntu, earlier when I used to run SoundRecording example it created a file on sdcard but there was no recording as such which was done in the file but now it started working suddenly. I am still not sure why it happened. But anyways good news is that Microphone is working with android emulator - as opposed to what I read at many forums that it does not.
On other hand whenever I am trying to run the voice recognition application available in same APIDemo its giving me an error - "Recording Parameter not supported: sampelrate 1600, channelcount 1, samplerate 1". Is it that speech recognition cannot take higher sample rate and if it cannot what is the sample rate it requires? My microphone supports only 16000 and higher sample rate.
I am looking for video recording example, it suppose to be in api - sample but not available. I am wondering if 1.1 release still missing this feature?
If it does support then in which format and where is the example. Also I am trying to figure out MP3 encoding long ago but still no solution. I have recorded an audio ()which is in AMR by default, how can I convert it in MP3 (any external package I can use?)
Is the Evo supposed to be auto-focusing when its recording video? If I have just the viewfinder and no recording going on, it auto-focuses whatever I point it at, but when it comes to recording, its not auto-focusing at all. It just stays blurry.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDon't know if anyone knew this but if you download the LED Desire light from the app store, use the app first to leave the LED lights on and go to your video recorder. You can now record video in the dark and have somewhat clarity with the LED lights on. Granted it would probably be a big energy waster, but atleast you know have a choice.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWell so after over a month that i had the phone and i didn't really have the chance to record in the dark with low light, so what better place to try it then Las Vegas, anyways i uploaded the video from the laptop quality will get better but right now does look crappier then what it really looks but i have to go work early morning so i need to go to sleep, let me know what you think either here or on the video comments btw if you go to youtube page it looks better i believe YouTube - bartender on the rio hotel and casino

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to control and adjust the sound level when recording video? I recently took a video at a concert and the sound is clipping really bad. I also tried to connect various external microphones to the phone but then I only get statics / clicking noises.
Is it possible to connect an external microphone to the phone? (except for the one from the hands free set). Especially with the coming HD video recording feature for the X10 the sound quality really doesn't measure up to the video quality.
Is video recording supported in 1.5? I got it mostly working with the Haykuro 1.5 ADP image - the video file was legally formatted but didn't play properly.
With yesterday's official 1.5 images, it doesn't work at all.
setVideoEncoder() fails,
with the wonderfully informative error message
"setVideoEncoder failed".
Is there any way to pause the video recording function? I've looked all over the net and can't find an app or a reason why this feature seems to be missing from all Android phones.
This is HD recording and could potentially replace low end video units. Seems like it should be unnecessary to use an external video editor to get a vacation video in one piece.
Anyone know how to turn on the led flash for shooting videos in the dark. No matter what I do I can not turn on the flash onscreen icon it just has the flash icon with a circle and line through it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running my HTC Legend with the stock "Camcorder" app and the most I can record with is 480p. Since the iPhone 4 has the same MP (5) and can shoot HD, why can't the Legend. Is there an app for such a thing? Any way without rooting, since I still want to keep my warranty till it expires.
