View 2 RepliesI bought hts desire 2 days ago and very impressed with it. but started to get annoying with Google maps. Either I dont understand how it works or my desire not working properly. With no problem I can connect to GPS and can see its on but when i go to Maps application I cant see anything except flashing blue arrow. Maps dont load. My maps loaded when I connect to WiFi. Does it mean I always have to connect to GPS and internet to load maps? Feels strange that i cant see any maps with only GPS on.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I've been using Maps on the Incredible and liking it so far. However one thing I miss from VZ navigator is the option to search for business' around me.When I'm traveling i like to find restaurants, gas stations, etc. around the area I'm staying. Is there an app that will do what VZ Navigator did in that area?
View 13 Replies View RelatedMaps vs. Navigator vs. Navigation. didn't find anything that compared the 3 stock options that the 2.1 OTA gave us. So far I have been using Navigation (the blue arrow icon) and i think it works extremely well, it give voice directions while the program runs in the background and your phone is "sleeping" so thats a big plus for me. I didn't see a voice option on Maps, or Navigator but i may be missing something. Navigator looks cool, but doesnt seem to have any bells and whistles that I need. My wife uses Maps and she is happy with what it does. What are your experiences with these 3 options?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have an android application which allows the user to open up google maps or navigator to show a certain address. This functionality was working in the past, but now I get the following error and the app crashes:
ERROR/AndroidRuntime(2165):
android.content.ActivityNotFoundException:
No Activity found to handle Intent { act=android.intent.action.VIEW
dat=google.navigation:q=MCNAMARA+TERMINAL+ROMULUS+MI+48174 }
The two intents I'm using are-
1) For Map:
String uri = "geo:0,0?q=MCNAMARA+TERMINAL+ROMULUS+MI+48174";
Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse(uri));
startActivity(i);
2) For Navigator:
String uri = "google.navigation:q=MCNAMARA+TERMINAL+ROMULUS+MI+48174";
Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse(uri));
startActivity(i);
just wanted to know if its worth the money, as google navigator wont work when 3g is down, copilot does aparently
View 20 Replies View RelatedI obtained a production maps API key. I then signed the .apk with the production keystore cert, but when I load it onto my phone there is no maps data. I do, however, get maps data with the dev key. What am I missing here?????? This is literally blocking my release here.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a problem since few days with sw HTC Locations ( I think is that).
Let me explain, often when I'm using the phone asks me to turn on the GPS because otherwise the navigator of Location does not work, when I do cancels and then get out, I came back after just 15 seconds and then continues with the same demands indefinitely.
I reset phone and I formatted the memory card , but now after reconfiguring the mobile phone presents itself to me again, what would it be?
I also checked with Kaspersky, but nothing found. That practically stops me using a mobile phone?
Anyone else having problems with the Google Maps App on the EVO? Whenever I try to view my location, zoom in or out, or drag the map around, all I get is the white pixilated screen. Sometimes it will load, sometimes it won't. Sometimes it takes over 3 minutes to load. I don't understand because I've checked my 3G connection and it's strong - I'm assuming the phone connects to the internet to download the maps. I used to have a Hero and it wasn't this slow.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis has been posted under the sprint htc hero forum, however i know there are much more people posting here that can help with this problem. Maps works fine, but when I open the app a pop up shows "unable to load the url", its pretty annoying. How can I get rid of this....clearing the cache and defaults did nothing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I open Google Maps, a little pop-up window says "Unable to load the URL" The program works fine, it's just kind of annoying. Does anyone else experience this? Is there a known solution? I cleared the cache and data and force-stopped the ap, but it still happens. For what it's worth, the same exact thing happened on my Moment (well, on the Moment Google Maps didn't work at all due to the POS GPS)

View 4 Replies View RelatedCurrently I've been using google's static maps to display maps in a phonegap app I'm developing. But I'm wondering if there's any way to load a google map that the user could scroll into and out of? I would want similar functionality as the maps app in most mobile environments. Is there any way to incorporate that type of service into my app?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm currently developing an app for Android which uses google map service. Because users will be able to see thousands of markers I would like to load only those which are currently within the map bounds (i.e. when user look at specific map tile). I know how to do it with javascript/html. However, Android doesn't seem to provide any similar methods such as containsLatLng(latlng) or getBounds (I only found getLatitudeSpan and getLongitudeSpan, but don't know how can I use them in order to achieve the similar effect). Can anyone give me some hint on that?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am pretty close now to finally making my first android phone purchase. I have been between the Desire, Galaxy S and the Desire HD for the last month but have been really turned off by the small battery on the DHD and have just found I can get almost all the feature on the Desire with 2.2. One answer I couldnt find is does the froyo update for 2.2 have auto caching of the maps? I use my map a lot as I travel all over the city and this really intrigued me about the DHD. If not not a big deal but would make me order the phone right now
View 10 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Desire a couple of months ago, and all was working fine.
This morning everything was a bit sluggish, so I restarted it, and now it's going to the HTC "quietly brilliant" screen, and then reboots, it's stuck in this cycle. It's plugged into a power socket, it's certainly not a power issue.
Any ideas of what I can do to get this to load back up? I guess if this is bricked, I'm completely screwed, as Orange won't touch it now it's been rooted?
I've had my desire a few weeks now and have played with all the settings to try and get this to work, however I cannot get HTTPS sites to load, they just constantly time out. I've tried several different browsers however they don't load in any of them...xscope, dolphin, opera or standard.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI thought 2.2 was supposed to speed the browser up but before the update it was way better. Now scrolling isn't as smooth ad before and some webpages don't load completely.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to load the ApkInstaller from Android Market but I can't find it on there? Anyone else had any luck in finding it and installing it? I'm trying to load it after I read on Electripig that the Google Navigation and Directions app can be hacked and works fine (a free navigation service if it does). On one site it even shows a photo of the ApkInstaller on the Market and someone with a Desire even commented they've followed Electripig instructions for the App and it works perfectly but for the 'ell of me can I find it?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHowever my phone will connect to my wifi at home no problems, it automatically switches when it's in range, but after about 20-30 minutes it stops working (pages won't load etc or get an error message saying I need to be connected) and when I go into wifi in settings it says 'authenticating' instead of connected. It doesn't change back if left you have to turn it off and back on and then it works fine for 20-30 minutes and back to the same problem again. I have never had a problem with the internet connection and there is no interuption to it or anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like advice from those with 2.2 on Orange. I've had my Desire for 2 months now and love it-apart from one thing-the damned Internet connection. Quite often, with a strong 3G+ (HSDPA) signal, my internet connection fails to load data. Then, a few minutes later, in the same location, it works perfectly. I know for a fact that this is not a network only problem. The reason I know this is because I previously used the exact same SIM in my iphone for 6 months in the very same locations and it always worked perfectly.
Therefore, my strong suspicion is that the problem is a result of the combination of the Orange branding on a Desire and the network itself. I'm sure I read of a couple of posters here who had the very same problems and when they moved to 2.2 the problem disappeared. Can anyone confirm? I've been waiting patiently for the Orange update to 2.2 but am getting fed up and I'm concerned that the Orange bloatware may still cause an issue after this. Hence, I'm considering a debrand and update myself.
the internet often fails to fully load the page I request, even when the display at the top is indicating 3g/3g+. The web address bar will half load and then stop and the only way to get the internet working again appears to be by turning the phone off and on. It does this 3 or 4 times a day. Also, whilst on the topic of internet problems, Google will often look to have loaded, but the location bit under the search box will never appear, nor will my default email address at the bottom of the Google homepage. When this happens whilst I can type in the search box, clicking the search button does nothing and can only be remedied, again, by turning off and on. This also happens a couple of times per day at least.
Secondly, since weekend, my phone has been 'crashing' (for want of a better word) mid-way through text messaging (very annoying if it's a long message as it doesn't save any progress). The screen will go black, signal will drop to nothing with a cross through it and then I'll be returned to the screen I was in previously. The same happens during calls - the phone will hang up, call will end, and the screen will go black with a line through the middle of it. I've had the phone since May and, as it's Orange branded, is still on 2.1. To be honest, overall I'm becoming fed up with it - seems to have more problems than it does positives at the moment, but I'm stuck with it for a while yet it would seem.
When i go to manage applications, to uninstall for example, the list takes AGES to load like 15 seconds its like the phone has crashed because it just hangs then it finally all appears. Sometimes it is instant, other times it takes ages is this normal?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been assigned the task to use an android tablet to run a single app in an enterprise setting. Ideally, when one switches on the tablet this app should be loaded perhaps during startup and the user need not step out of this app. The app logic itself is rather easy but I am wondering if it is at all possible to load a single app during load and not allowing the user to step out of it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to load a layout XML at runtime and load into activity?
In my app, I have various types of data like Person, Company, City, etc; The requirement is to dynamically load the layout, find views by tags (property names like Person.name, Person.address) and then fill in data. For example, if user has selected an object of type Company, we want to load a company.xml layout, inflate it and then associate various properties (company name, company slogan, city, address, revenue) to tagged views. One possibility I see here is - each view in the layout will be associated with property-name as tag and then appropriate data will be loaded in appropriate views.
What should be the best design you would recommend?
When we open some sites and read more details some stories, when we push back button, it's look the browser re open the current site. Is it possible if we push back button, the site will load instantly without reload to server?
