HTC Desire :: Maps Using 93% Of Battery
Aug 7, 2010My battery died down ridiculous amounts yesterday - it's usally pretty good. When I checked battery usage, maps had used 93% of my battery even though I hadn't used it?

Oct 7, 2010I have a question; I find that after around 16hrs my battery has depleted to around 60% for exmaple, and 90% of this battery usage is from the maps app but it isn't even running? What's going on?

Dec 2, 2012I've noticed that Google maps is always taking up a big portion of the battery in the battery menu. If I freeze it with titanium would that make a significant difference? I use it seldom enough to go thru the trouble of unfreezing it when needed if it's worth it..

Jul 7, 2010This is my first smart phone so I'm somewhat of a noob.However recently when I have been checking what has been using my battery the most to try and conserve some battery.My GPS is always off unless I need it and I have not even used Maps at all today. After about 8 hours of being unplugged I was down to about 30% battery life.

Apr 8, 2010When i check my battery usage its saying that Maps has been using 90 percent of the battery. Its been doing this the last couple days even with me charging it at night. I didnt use maps at all today and its not showing up in my app manager as running, or a newly downloaded task killer. Its not really affecting my battery life which is weird and doesnt make sense. So i was just wondering if anyone else was having this problem(sorta more like inconvienence)?

Aug 12, 2010Google Maps is taking up all of my battery life after using navigation. I've tried backing out instead of using home when on Maps. I always use 'Exit Navigation' when closing Navigation. I've tried killing the task. The only thing that has worked is restarting the phone.

I have been between the Desire, Galaxy S and the Desire HD for the last month but have been really turned off by the small battery on the DHD and have just found I can get almost all the feature on the Desire with 2.2. One answer I couldnt find is does the froyo update for 2.2 have auto caching of the maps? I use my map a lot as I travel all over the city and this really intrigued me about the DHD. If not not a big deal but would make me order the phone right now

May 20, 2010I bought hts desire 2 days ago and very impressed with it. but started to get annoying with Google maps. Either I dont understand how it works or my desire not working properly. With no problem I can connect to GPS and can see its on but when i go to Maps application I cant see anything except flashing blue arrow. Maps dont load. My maps loaded when I connect to WiFi. Does it mean I always have to connect to GPS and internet to load maps? Feels strange that i cant see any maps with only GPS on.

Aug 20, 2010I have a Desire and have Google Maps installed, but when I want to go somewhere, it doesn't tell me my turns and what street to turn on. I only see the map and that's it. When maps was installed I had a popup that advised that I should download text to speech as well, which I did. I've watched on utube and the videos show turn by turn speech happening on the videos. I live in Canada. Is it not available here?

Aug 7, 2010The last update to File Manager included an applications manager too. It enables you to backup* and uninstall applications.
On the applications list 'Maps' is in there twice, both 4.3.0 installed on 2010-07-06 and both 4102KB. Would I actually have two copies installed? I'm not that keen on the idea of uninstalling one to find out for obvious reasons! this seems to put them onto the SD card which is quite useful

Jul 14, 2010Is there any way of changing the voice on these, the synthesised voice is AWFUL. Apart from not being able to pronounce English words correctly (E.g. Kew <queue> said as koo - I can't imagine what is must be like if I had to drive down Gloucester or Leicester) it's soooooo grating and harsh on my lugs.I've tried both English and American English settings but both are as bad as each other.Is there a download for new voices or one in the pipeline?I'm shocked this passed Google's quality control!

When I try to pinch zoom in or out, it sometimes just moves the map.
With sometimes I mean, every time I'm in google maps all 3 of those problems occur more than it works normal.
