Jun 29, 2010Is it possible to track a blackberry phone on the map on my HTC desire.
If so which is the best way and in there a cost involved ?

Sep 30, 2010When using Google Maps (not navigation) does it display your route so that you are always going "up", or does it display your route so you are going left?
So if I fire up Google Maps and just want to leave it on while I drive home, but I'm not trying to do any kind of navigation...though I might open the traffic layer, should my route be coming from the bottom of the screen going upwards or should it be going from the right to the left?
I noticed driving home the other night it was tracking me going right to left. It seemed odd.

Jun 12, 2010Has anyone had experience of a decent how tracking app that can activate the god (if turned off) remotely by sms (that actually works)?Also if it can remote data wipe too, a bonus.Anyone have any recommendations?I had instamappa on blackberry but swapped to egps when insta told me they wouldn't hide the app starting up.Neither could remotely activate but battery wasn't as much oh an issue back then

Sep 23, 2010I have a particular problem with the Desire in the format of the delivery report for the messages. It only says 'received', or sometimes 'pending'. I have done some tests, and the pending status does not change when it's actually delivered, and sometimes it will say 'received' when the phone the message is being sent to is switched off.
I used this function (on my trusty old Sony C905) to send messages to phones when they were off, the delivery report would come in with the date and time that the phone was switched on and the message delivered.
Is there an app that I can download to do better management of message tracking? Hopefully the same app that will let me see arabic characters as mentioned in my other query.
HTC Desire :: Does Desire Auto Cache Maps On 2.2?
Oct 23, 2010I am pretty close now to finally making my first android phone purchase. I have been between the Desire, Galaxy S and the Desire HD for the last month but have been really turned off by the small battery on the DHD and have just found I can get almost all the feature on the Desire with 2.2. One answer I couldnt find is does the froyo update for 2.2 have auto caching of the maps? I use my map a lot as I travel all over the city and this really intrigued me about the DHD. If not not a big deal but would make me order the phone right now

May 20, 2010I bought hts desire 2 days ago and very impressed with it. but started to get annoying with Google maps. Either I dont understand how it works or my desire not working properly. With no problem I can connect to GPS and can see its on but when i go to Maps application I cant see anything except flashing blue arrow. Maps dont load. My maps loaded when I connect to WiFi. Does it mean I always have to connect to GPS and internet to load maps? Feels strange that i cant see any maps with only GPS on.

Aug 20, 2010I have a Desire and have Google Maps installed, but when I want to go somewhere, it doesn't tell me my turns and what street to turn on. I only see the map and that's it. When maps was installed I had a popup that advised that I should download text to speech as well, which I did. I've watched on utube and the videos show turn by turn speech happening on the videos. Aug 7, 2010The last update to File Manager included an applications manager too. It enables you to backup* and uninstall applications.
On the applications list 'Maps' is in there twice, both 4.3.0 installed on 2010-07-06 and both 4102KB. Would I actually have two copies installed? I'm not that keen on the idea of uninstalling one to find out for obvious reasons! this seems to put them onto the SD card which is quite useful

Jul 14, 2010Is there any way of changing the voice on these, the synthesised voice is AWFUL. Apart from not being able to pronounce English words correctly (E.g. Kew <queue> said as koo - I can't imagine what is must be like if I had to drive down Gloucester or Leicester) it's soooooo grating and harsh on my lugs.I've tried both English and American English settings but both are as bad as each other.Is there a download for new voices or one in the pipeline?I'm shocked this passed Google's quality control!

May 24, 2010I am REALLY impressed with the google maps navigation on my Desire, I have a TomTom and pay for maps quarterly and it's up to date but still does not know about the 4 new roads where i live and one is a few miles long. However Google Navigation knew about the new roads (1 extra before i knew, let alone tomtom)

Apr 20, 2010I have purchased HTC Desire (via mobiles.co.uk) with Orange's Panther plan. Orange Maps comes free on Panther 30 plan.
Since my phone came from mobiles.co.uk, it didn't come with Orangeworld or Orange Maps application pre-installed.
When I try to download Orange Maps application, Orange webpage tells me that my handset is not supported. Which is not true, because HTC Desire is listed as a supported handset on Orange Maps website.
When I looked at orange world > help & costs > Your technical info, my handset is being shown as "Orange SPV M2000" instead of HTC Desire. Is it possible that orange website is not recognizing HTC Desire correctly because of which it is not allowing me to download Orange Maps application?
