When I try to pinch zoom in or out, it sometimes just moves the map.
With sometimes I mean, every time I'm in google maps all 3 of those problems occur more than it works normal.

I read in the manual that the Incredible will support multitouch for certain apps. There is no mention, however, of using multitouch to zoom the map application - the manual makes reference to double tapping the screen to zoom. Does anyone know if the Incredible will use multitouch in the map app like the Droid is able to?

how can I get the optimum zoom level for the MapController in order to focus the middle of both points, but also have them on the map.

So I just picked up my Eris yesterday. For the most part it is working great right now but a couple things are a little annoying.
First, pinch zoom isn't working in the Google Maps app. Should it? Works great in the browser when surfing the web but not in maps for some reason.
Second, it clicks at me. For example, I'll hit the red power/call end button when I'm done using it to turn off the display. Then I'll set it down on the table or something and it makes these little intermittent click sounds just sitting there. After 5 minutes or so it stops. It isn't constant, just a couple clicks ever 10-30 seconds for a little bit then stops.
New to these parts...
Is Pinch-to-Zoom stock on the Google maps app? or is my only option rooting the phone?
it should not zoom in too much (x < minZoomLevel etc) or zoom out too much (only one size - width or height - can get smaller than the display size)

Named 'xScope', I did put a $2.99 price tag tough if you please excuse me. I need to buy a bird for this thanksgiving and wife kept bashing my development effort for not doing any housework in the past weeks. The browser is not full blown but works great for simple surfing.

This is SE official announcment about multitouch, and few month ago they say that it was not possible, but now they say that X10 support this. What to think people some alliens fly down and changed our mobiles or SE was able from the beggining to make multitouch and he didn't wanted. Htc Hero is supposed to be a multi touch device, you can pinch to zoom in browser and in photo viewer, the thing that I can't understand is why all other applications don't support multitouch.
For example I downloaded snesoid and nesoid and there is written in the options that my firmware (1.5) doesnt' support multitouch, making it impossible to play games.
So is HTC hero with 1.5 really multitouch or not? And will I be able to use multitouch in emulators and other apps downloaded from the market when the 2.1 will come out?
Milestone has been launched. I'm not a programmer but I'm sure there's a. Way to get multi touch web browsing and maps on the droid ala milestone.

When maps was installed I had a popup that advised that I should download text to speech as well, which I did. I've watched on utube and the videos show turn by turn speech happening on the videos. I live in Canada. Is it not available here?

Kew <queue> said as koo - I can't imagine what is must be like if I had to drive down Gloucester or Leicester) it's soooooo grating and harsh on my lugs.I've tried both English and American English settings but both are as bad as each other.Is there a download for new voices or one in the pipeline?I'm shocked this passed Google's quality control!

However Google Navigation knew about the new roads (1 extra before i knew, let alone tomtom)
How can they offer such great navigation for free when i have just paid ?74 for my tom tom map update and it's still out of date.! if htc/google can fix the issue of calls via blutooth whilst using HTC desire for navigation i tell you TOMTOM are history and thats hard to say after all these years!
