How do i make the htc desire bluetooth discoverable for more than the 1 min it allows in the menu?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm fairly new to the android platform but I'm getting the hang of it by the minute.I've previously owned a blackberry pearl, nokia e71, nokia n97.I've also used the Iphone 3gs, palm treo 500, samsung blackjack, htc tilt, nokia n95.From a wide range of smartphones, I must say, android is by far the fastest (when it comes to booting up, loading apps, viewing pages and maps, and just about everything else).The display is very crisp too. I am using the new google phone that is supposedly coming out next month in case you guys are wondering. Feature-wise, its lacking some of the essentials of a stock smart phone.but the Market is where you go to fill that void.So far, I haven't had any luck finding an app that will make my phone in discoverable mode all the time.There's a limit under your bluetooth settings of 106 seconds or so, but I would prefer it if there was no limit.Suggestions anyone?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'd like to establish a Bluetooth communication between an Android phone and a remote device.The class of the remote device is a basic one just a simple Bluetooth adapter.When I use the Bluetooth scan devices function,the phone recognizes devices from different class (ex. computer, phone, Bluetooth headset) but not this one.I tried it on a Samsung Galaxy Theos and a HTC Wildfire with Android 2.1 but I got the same result with both.Is that possible that the phone manufacturer or Android filters certain class of devices? I think it only supports the A2DP bluetooth profile (no hfp).Right now the music plays through the car stereo just fine but when I get a phone call it does not. Ideally I would like to have the phone call audio go through the stero and use the phone's microphone as if it were on speakerphone. Is this possible?My phone is a g1 running the latest experimental release of cyanogenmod rom.I would love a built in solution but I think the ability to do that is so non standard it wouldn't exist. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a weird issue with my Desire and my Ford Mondeo Bluetooth audio system. The Phone bonds with the car audio system no problem, receives calls etc., exactly as expected - and after a recent (unexpected), update to my cars radio firmware I can use the bluetooth audio feature which controls my media player in the handset from the steering wheel controls! No problems, Except! Even when I'm not using the bluetooth audio feature - i.e. listening to the cars radio or ipod etc., the audio from the desire still gets routed to the car audio system, effectively muting the phone. So when I use the navigation within the phone I get no audible routing directions, even if I switch the cars radio to play the bluetooth audio I still can't really hear the navigation because the inbuilt htc audio player refuses to stop playing (the car keeps unpausing the device). It would be nice to disable the bluetooth audio and leave only the phone connection but can't seem to figure out if that's even possible.

What I want to do is develop an application on Android phone which will act as a blue tooth headset, so it can connect to my laptop by blue tooth. When I try to call somebody, I can use my phone to dial him, and my application will forward the voice through blue tooth to my laptop, and one other application running on laptop will get the voice data and forward them to Skype or G Talk or some VoIP program else. I have a built in car system that connects to the phone via bluetooth. Unfortunately, this system will not read the phonebook directly from the phone, and you need to transfer the phonebook via bluetooth to the car system.
On my old phone (Samsung i8910), you were able to go into contacts, mark all the contacts and then transfer them via bluetooth.
On the DHD I cannot seem to find an option for this. Any ideas how I can achieve this?
I ALWAYS have my carrier 3g network and blu-tooth turned off at all times using the power control widget that came with my HTC Desire. but when i turn on my phone, my carrier network and blu-tooth are turnred on, and my mail and some other things get refreshed, using up data.
Is there a good widget or app that permanently stops the network and blu-tooth from turning on unless i do it manually? i cant find one on the market! i only set my refreshes of my mail to just once a day, and is there a way to set these refreshes to none a day, just manually?
Has anyone got any experience with external keyboards for the Desire?

I used my phone with no problem yesterday (made and received calls), then went to sleep and charged my phone overnight. When I woke up this morning, I tried to make a call and just got "this number is not in use", thought it was something to do with that persons number. Tried to call some other numbers and always got the same thing. I asked my brother to call me and it just went straight to voicemail. Then, when I opened "Phone" I noticed that there was something wrong with my last few calls made. Phone numbers here in Iceland are 7 letters, for example 1234567.. but all the recent calls I made looked like 6171234567, that 617 always got added before the number I tried to call and that made it fail. I only see 1234567 when trying to make the call, when I look at the phone while listening to "This number is not in use", I never see that 617 until I've hung up and check the call log. I did try to call +3541234567 though (354 being the Icelandic country code) and that went through fine. But if I don't use it, the 617 gets added. Has anyone ever experienced this problem? I thought it might be some setting so automatically add a country/area code before a number or something like that, but didn't find anything in settings.

When I long press the search button and use the command "Call <name>" where <name> is someone in my list of contacts (People) e.g. "Call Home" it recognises the words correctly but all it does is bring up a result screen from a Google Web Search.
