My HTC Desire has developed a strange habit of making ghost calls. The phone has been on charge this morning and it has still managed to call my home number and my wife's mobile without any human intervention.

I used my phone with no problem yesterday (made and received calls), then went to sleep and charged my phone overnight. When I woke up this morning, I tried to make a call and just got "this number is not in use", thought it was something to do with that persons number. Tried to call some other numbers and always got the same thing. I asked my brother to call me and it just went straight to voicemail. Then, when I opened "Phone" I noticed that there was something wrong with my last few calls made. Phone numbers here in Iceland are 7 letters, for example 1234567.. but all the recent calls I made looked like 6171234567, that 617 always got added before the number I tried to call and that made it fail. I only see 1234567 when trying to make the call, when I look at the phone while listening to "This number is not in use", I never see that 617 until I've hung up and check the call log. I did try to call +3541234567 though (354 being the Icelandic country code) and that went through fine. But if I don't use it, the 617 gets added. Has anyone ever experienced this problem? I thought it might be some setting so automatically add a country/area code before a number or something like that, but didn't find anything in settings.

Am I missing an additional setting to switch from the phone's mic and speakers to my the connected bluetooth headset or is this a bug in the software?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed VoiceSearch_2.1 and HTC_IME mod successfully. The voice to text works great! However I can't seem to make the Phone Call functionality work. When I long press the search button and use the command "Call <name>" where <name> is someone in my list of contacts (People) e.g. "Call Home" it recognises the words correctly but all it does is bring up a result screen from a Google Web Search. Am I doing something stupid?
View 49 Replies View RelatedLately I can be outside in Central London with 4 or more bars showing on my HTC Desire but can't make or receive any calls. This happened in the Putney area last week and yesterday I was in Camden so I thought it must be a network problem until my mate with an Orange iPhone sat next to me and starting making calls with no problem. Anyone else finding this? The phone says its dialing on the display but seconds later it says call ended. I do try various different numbers just to check but get the same results.

I'm on Telus and far from using all of my plan. Very odd! Re-flashing with "AuraxTSense v8.0 HTC Sense 2.2" I do get the "limited service" warning at start up.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter much waiting for my desire HD I was (and am) really pleased with it. However in the last couple of days my screen appears to be detecting a second touch which pretty much prevents me playing games and is a real hindrance when typing. I could accept this if it were the gel protector or my hand running over the side of the screen, but it seems to be around the "rtuio" bit of the keyboard when holding the phone in portrait mode (i.e. the centre). I do have a screen protector on there but there are no air bubbles or anything visible underneath it. So yeah, has this been raised before? I couldn't find anything. Do I need to recalibrate the screen somehow?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter updating to 2.1 on my X10, I noticed that I cannot use Google Voice to make phone calls (either selecting "use Google Voice for all calls" or "use Google Voice for international phones). It seems that the issue has to do with the SE dialer. Is there a way to go to the stock generic Android dialer? If not, any other suggestions?

But I can still use the wifi. Is there anyway that I can use wifi on the phone to make calls? View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just published an app to Google Play. It is an app that allows people (mostly tourists) in my area to easily find businesses around them. One functionality that my app offers is to make a phone call to these companies by tapping a button in the app, including emergency numbers.
Google Play says that the app requires "direct phone access, it can call phone numbers without your intervention, which can lead to a high phone bill, but not emergency numbers". This doesn't completely fit my intention.
My app would work just fine if it had to ask the user every time it wanted to make a call, and it doesn't call anything when no buttons are tapped, plus I DO want the app to be able to call emergency numbers (with the user's consent off course).
Is it possible to make phone calls redirection through viber? example, someone calls you on mobile 1 in a regular call and it redirects the call through viber to mobile 2 the same for whats upp but for messages?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy first question is about the car dock. I am in California and we have a hands free law. I cannot stand wearing the stupid little ear pieces. Right now, I am using my Garmin Zumo GPS as a hands free device. The Zumo syncs BT with my Blackberry and the Zumo cradle has a mic, so I don't need a ear piece. The output is sent through my truck speakers with a tape deck adapter. Works great. My question is this - If I have the phone in the car dock, can I use it is in the same fashion as the Garmin, minus the BT sync of course? Will I be able to make speakerphone calls while in the cradle and port the sound through the tape deck adapter?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had a weird issue that has sprung up twice now with making phone calls and I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. Visually everything looks like it is functional with my phone service on the phone. I have bars, nothing out of the ordinary. However, I can't make any outbound calls either through my contacts or by manually dialing. I the number pad and it makes the response noise but doesn't actually type the number. In contacts, I hit call and the same thing happens. The fix I have found is just to soft boot the phone. Now I hear you all saying "No big deal, just restart." Yeah, it is no big deal unless I have to make a call in an emergency say calling 911 or things of that nature. Waiting for 5 minutes for my phone to reboot in an emergency can cost lives. I know I am being a little dramatic, but c'mon, at the end of the day, it is a phone and it is having trouble making calls.

My mom called me like 25 times asking me to look up something, when I FINALLY got the call on the house phone I was able to look it up in maps but unable to call her back at all (was using wifi). My EVDO data services work fine but theres not voice AT ALL. I tried calling my number from like 5 phones nothing, I also reset it turned off the cellular radio and turned it back on nothing. Now for some reason the only time I can receive calls and make calls is when I have it set to 1xRTT only....Idk wtf going on but the one time I needed to use the PHONE on my handset it decided to not work....I had like 3 people try and call me and nothing not very convent.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I installed Smoked Glass last v6. night and everything was fine. This morning everything was also fine, sent and received 20-30 texts and no issue. About 5 minutes ago I was trying to send a text and I kept getting a message not sent. So then I tried to make a phone call and I could not make a phone call ether. I can still access the internet though. I have 2-3 bars at all times.
Can this be related to me installing the ROM (nothing went wrong with instillation) I wiped all data, installed rom and then backed up with titanum. I have rebooted my phone a couple of times and nothing changed. I also just tried to make a call and it completely rebooted the phone.
I updated my Eris to 2.1 about a month ago, and it's been running fine up until about last week. Lately, the battery hasn't been lasting me more than 12 hours, and I've done everything I can to save battery life, plus the battery cover usually gets hot enough to cook some eggs on top of. The problems I've encountered lately is with making and receiving calls. When trying to call someone, it seems to take forever. I know my phone isn't the fastest Android, but it used to work fine. It takes a good 30 seconds just to type in a 10 digit number; the phone usually freezes a couple of times, its just generally laggy.
When I try to receive a call, the same basic thing happens. The phone freezes up while I am trying to slide the bar down on the lock screen, etc. Here's the main issue. After sifting through the freezing and lagging, and finally get to the call, I cannot hear anything, and they cannot hear me. The call is connected; I see the notification up top, and I have got the vibrate to tell me it's connected.
So, first, here's what happened. Did a factory reset of my phone. When it came back up and I went to activate it, no data connection, unable to make phone calls. After 2 hours on the phone with VZW tech support, I can make calls, but have no data connection. They are sending me a "new" one. The concensus of the VZW tech and myself, problem with my phone. 2 days later, my wife resets her phone because of memory usage issues (she had to much on it). Same exact thing happened to her. Being the fiesty woman that she is she is going to a VZW store today to raise holy hell and throughorly degrade the poor rep that she is going to talk to, to get some answers. My question to all my fine fellow Eris users, have you seen this before? If in our position, do we deserve a new phone, and not an eris? Will this happen with a replacement eris due to a fault in the 2.1 update?
