HTC Desire :: How To Connect Phone To Macbook?
May 31, 2010
I've just set up Ical to sync with Google calendar so I can sync that with my Desire but when I plug in my phone, it starts looking for HTC sync and obviously can't find it as it's windows only. I've set debugging to come on as I read somewhere that would enable the phone to connect to my mac but it's not working. The computer can see the phone when I plug it in as a disk drive though.

I can't seem to get my n1 to connect to my macbook with the usb cable. when i plug it in the phone charges but the sd card will not mount on the desktop nor does it show up in the finder. it was working fine until a week ago when i took the card out to transfer some photos. i was forced to reformat upon re-inserting into n1 and that's when the usb problems began. I've tried reformatting, rebooting, switching usb ports but nothing's worked yet.

I have a samsung epic 4g, rooted with Kernel version 2.6.35.7-gefb31a4. I installed PDA net on my phone and on my macbook pro. I see the Icon on the top bar of my mac but there is always a red "X". I clicked debugging and everything the application told me to do on my phone and on my computer but every time I plug it in and press connect, my mac tell me there is no phone connected. I have done all the proper updates. my goal is not to have to always use my wifi tethering.

I am having trouble connecting up my Desire to my Macbook to make use of my USB Modem via WIFI. I have the USB modem connected to laptop and on the Net. Wifi active on Laptop and phone. Set laptop for Internet sharing from Modem to Wifi. All seems good, but my Desire just keeps telling me "obtaining address" I have tried setting it to static, Removing all Key's , different channels, but my desire is just not connecting. Keep getting "Failed". Driving me insane. Does not seem very keen to work on my Windows 7 Side either.

I am on the verge of upgrading my phone, at the moment I've ditched the idea of a BB Storm because of the terrible feedback and reviews on bad signal and battery life. So I am left with the Magic or the new HTC Touch Pro " out in the next couple of weeks. I'm on Vodafone UK, i will be staying with them as they offer the best of what I need in my area. I use my phone for my business, it needs to sync with my microsoft office to take my contacts and diary with me, it needs to be able to be tethered (either usb or bluetooth) to my macbook so I can use it as a modem as I edit photographs on location and ftp or email them to clients. I do not send enough through my laptop to justify a 3G usb dongle on a separate tariff and Vodafone don't do a pay as you go dongle that will work with a mac (only the contract one works I've had a play with a Magic and it seems nice, I currently have a HTC Tytn 2(tilt) so i would have to get used to using a virtual keyboard with the Magic. The Touch Pro 2 looks sweet BUT it's big. So if the Magic could achieve what I need then it may be the phone for me. SO....my question is, can I use the magic as a modem for my macbook?

I've got a set of Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 bluetooth headphones. I can pair the headphones fine, but for some reason only the Media source on the Desire pairs with the headphones - the Phone part doesn't. Is there something I haven't done? Has anyone had any similar problems with other BT headphones?

I'm trying to upload photos from the phone to my macbook. After uploading several pics to "my T-mobile album" and after emailing them to myself, I notice the pictures are pretty small, 480x360.. no where near what I expected from 5 megapixels (and yes, I have the option set at 5mp). What can I do to take larger sized pictures?
Possibly unrelated, I use the stock USB cable to plug in the phone. The phone will charge, but my Macbook does not recognize anything as being plugged in, so I cannot manually browse around to upload my photos. What gives?

I installed HTC Sync 2.0.28 on Win XP machine and Have HTC desire connected to it. Desire is able to connect to HTC Sync and works fine.
I have setup eclipse with Android SDK on the same Win XP machine.
Problem comes here ..
HTC sync works fine as long as i don't launch any Android SDK sample applications through eclipse on to virtual device. From that point phone no longer able connect to HTC Sync . Only Solution is i have to restart my workstation then only Desire is able to connect to Synch again. Restarting phone is not working.

I have checked the USB debugging (to on, presumably).Downloaded HTC Sync on PC as the PC is not recognising the phone at all. It simply says when trying to open in My Computer as "PLease insert disc into drive E." I've set the Default Connection Device to all options; HTC sync, disc drive (not bothering with internet sharing) - neither work. However the charge only setting does work. The USB lead supplied doesnt look like a car charging type. How can you tell? The HTC Sync screen on the PC doesnt even register that the phone is connected.I have no interest in syncing with Google contacts or calendar, however I would like to be able to transfer calender info and contacts to the PC, and transfer from the PC, music and applications to the phone.

I'm new to my HTC Desire and Android in general, so please bear with me. At home, I have no Wi-Fi but my PC is connected to the web via ADSL. Is there a way to allow my HTC Desire to connect to the internet via USB using the connection my PC has to the internet (i.e. using it as a gateway)? I know that you can use the phone to allow the PC to connect to the web - but is the opposite possible as well?

Recieved the Desire HD yesterday but it won't connect to my Wifi (although it says it is connected) as when I try to access the market, web browser, gmail it won't connect unless I switch on my 3G connection. Frustrating as I wanted to download maps and really can't do this on my mobile content allowance.

I have recently updated to Froyo/2.2 on my HTC Desire (on Vodafone contract). According to Vodafone this is now the standard HTC firmware with none of their nonsense installed. Now I cannot connect to wifi either at home or work. It can see the wireless networks OK, but gets stuck in a loop trying to connect - it seems to be trying to obtains an IP address, gives up and starts again endlessly. Having searched around the web this seems to be a common 2.2 issue. I've tried many times with forgetting the credentials, etc and have done the full factory reset. Not sure what to do next.
