Hope someone can help me. I have changed my google mail address from googlemail.com to gmail on my computer, But how you get your desire to change the header when you open your inbox on the desire?
It still comes up with it still ending in googlemail.com at the top of the inbox. I am a novice when it comes to android. but loving it.

Since updating to 2.2, I lose anything left in my Inbox after about 2 days. I used to have this problem and remember making a change in settings to sort it out but I can't find anyway of doing this in 2.2. (This is NOT googlemail)
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running into some issues with the HTC Mail client and I'm about ready to throw fits.I've configured my work IMAP email account, but it's not pulling any emails down to the inbox.I get the 'No mail' message when there is most definitely mail there.I can send from the account just fine, and the sent items feed back to the server w/out any problems.I've tried deleting the account and reconfiguring same result.Any way to start from a clean slate in the HTC Mail client w/out wiping the entire unit? I have configured another user's phone (same exact phone) on the same email system and theirs worked as expected adding to the frustration!

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have setup and tested my personal email on my new HTC Desire and all seems fine, then when I get home and manually check my email on my Outlook client I seem to have received about 4 emails but none to my phone. When I go into my settings on my phone, the SMTP server settings for mail have changed. For example when I set it up it should be say:
POP Server: mail.neilsdomain.com
POP Username: neil@neilsdomain.com
SMTP Server: smtp.ispname.co.uk
SMTP Username: neil@ispname.co.uk
I test this and all works wonderfully and mail flows into my phone. Then for some unknown reason when I come out and go back in the SMTP settings have changed by themselves to:
SMTP Server: smtp.ispname.co.uk
SMTP Username: neil@neilsdomain.com. Why would the SMTP Username change?
I have gmail and my regular pop email set up on my Incredible. Well, almost set up. They seem to "grab" new mail automatically, instead of just when I want them to. I cannot seem to find settings for either app that allows me to control when and if new email is downloaded to the phone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my phone for a month now (Vodafone in UK) and have pretty well mastered most things except my email.I set up the gmail account as required and access that via an app no problem. The main email account I set up to access my Messenger Live email account. This was a doddle as I just entered my address and password and it set up immediately. I should have known it wouldn't be that simple! It downloads and sends my mail just fine but after a few days all mail disappears so that I have no record of it's ever having been there. It's still all there on my Live account when I log in via my computer.
What am I doing wrong? I've checked every setting I can but no joy and no reference to this problem on any fora.Another clue may be that despite deleting emails I've received on my Wildfire they are still on my Live account as though nothing has happend. Sounds as though it's not syncing properly but what settings can I check?
I just got an EVO, and I'm loving everything except this one thing. I would like my gmail app to default to "all mail," instead of simply "inbox." Why? I have some messages skip my gmail inbox (like facebook notifications or weekly coupons), so I have set labels to fix that! Keeps a clean inbox. BUT I want to still be notified of Facebook emails on my phone without having to specifically look for them. Say someone tags me in an unflattering picture, and I'm away from my laptop? I'd like to know right away! I have different needs for my phone and my laptop Does anyone else have these problems? Or...solutions?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt randomly selects email, last time it was 1, this time 3. First poll, they disappear out of the inbox, next poll they show up as unread even though they're 2 weeks old. Leaving them as unread doesn't help, they still disappear, and come back as unread, but for some reason not on every poll. Tried to make friends with google, but all I find is other forum complaints that are similar but not exact, with no solutions. And Issue 719: Inbox shows old email. Anybody else going through this? It seems as though they're doing nothing to fix it.
View 2 Replies View Relatedall my numbers were saved into the sim fine no problem. all present and correct. when i went to manually enter a contact last night it gave me the option to store to googlemail, phone or sim.... well not knowing that my contacts were now stored under googlemail. i thought i would pick phone, one little message later (something about changing settings) but not saying it would wipe my contacts ...everyone apart from this new number i maunually entered were gone! so checked that i had checked the box to back up everything ( i had), tried to import from sim.... but nothing !!!! no contacts !!!!
EVERY other phone i have had you can save to any file sim, phone etc without a hitch , why not this one? are my contacts really all gone? or is there a way to rectify this?
a few numbers i remembered have now been entered into my phonebook manually and saved under googlemail .... but what happens if i accidently pick phone or sim again...... back to square one anyone else had this happen ? is there a way to get them back ? and a way around this in the future. ? if not the desire is going back
Since upgrading to Froyo, whenever I get new email, any existing email in my inbox is automatically shifted to the Trash folder. Is anyone else having this problem? Will doing the factory reset fix this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is driving me nuts because I had the hero and swapped it out to the Moment and it did the same thing. I am using the Gmail app and whenever I get new mail I have to go into the ALL MAIL label to see it even though the mail has a Inbox tag on it. By doing this I don't get any notifications of new mail and must check it manually. I've tried clearing out Gmail app and Gmail storage but it will only sync once and stop again. So anyone having the same problem? Gmail not pushing mail into the in-box? I posted on Google help forums but so far people only told me to clear data of the applications.

My problem is that i am receiving notifications that i have new mail but there is nothing showing in the inbox. I have check my inbox online and yes there is new mail, but it is not showing up on my device. I have also tried deleting the account and re adding it but the same thing happens all over again after a few mins.
New mail is ending up in the all mail folder not sure how to fix this so mail is pushed to my inbox and I get new mail notifications.

Whenever I press the manual update button on the upper left hand corner, it doesn't seem to work whatsoever. (I send myself test e-mails and they don't show up when I press that button when they should).Any ideas how to fix this? Is this button not working for anyone else using IMAP? Did installing and uninstalling K9 mail maybe mess up the stock android e-mail app?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have finally figured out why I don't always get a notification for new mails on my HTC Hero.
I have setup an Exchange account for the build in mail application that comes with the phone, and I want it to give me a notification when I receive a new e-mail.
This will however only happen if the mail ends up in the Inbox folder in my Exchange account.
I do not get any notification if I have a rule that moves the mail automatically to a sub folder in the Inbox.
I like to sort my mails using a folder for each sender and I use the rules in Outlook to do this automatically, but this prevents the notification feature in the HTC Hero mail application from working.
I can still refresh a folder in the phone mail program and download all received mails, but no notifications and I have to do this manually.
It seems to me that the Inbox folder is only folder to be updated automatically by the ActiveSync connection.
I have my Data Syncronization settings set to As Items Arrive.
So do any of you out there know how to get the mail program to download all new mails as they arrive and give a notification on the phone, not matter what folder the mail ends up in on the Echange server?
I couldn't find any incoming mail in the inbox after opening them. Does it mean that the inbox doesn't store the incoming mail or they are "hiding" in other folders? Please help me how to have the incoming mails back into the inbox folder.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am relatively new to Android. Just got a Droid 4. As part of the setup, I added my gmail accounts. On the regular web interface, I have about 20 labels (folder) to archive the old messages. Then, I also had about 80 messages left in the inbox. Five days later, all of a sudden, I only have 1 message (a chat converted info a message 2 months ago) left in the inbox. Everything else in the inbox is gone. If I use the gmail app on the phone, that's what I see as well.
However, if I use the "mail" app on the phone, I am still seeing all the messages originally in the inbox. And the inbox is associated with my gmail account.
Now, comes the question: how can I restore all the email messages viewable by the "mail" app back into the inbox viewable by the "gmail" app, which is also the inbox in the web interface on my computer?
I have touched on this question here, where Christopher gave an answer to this, but I dont really get it so I thought its time to make it a real question, not just a "follow up" =)
As it stands, the application Im writing has 4 different screens:
1. Screen 1 - list of nodes (main screen)
2. Screen 2 - options menu, tableLayout with buttons
3. Screen 3 - navigation
4. Screen 4 - text details on version etc
These screens can be navigated to/from using a "header" View that is placed on top. the header then has 4 different buttons:

The header is just an XML-file (header.xml) with a few buttons. That header.xml is the included in the Layouts using the include-markup. For example, the main.xml has the line:
<include layout="@layout/header"></include>
The header show up alright, but the question is - what is the correct approach to attach OnClickListeners for the buttons in the header?
Christopher pointed out that you could create an Activity class and do the hooks there, like this:

Secondly, is this the right way to go at it?
Wondered what people's thoughts were on the mail apps that come with the phone? I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Anyone tried both apps for any length of time and have strong opinions over which app is better? I saw a review that said the HTC app is better but the Google one doesn't seem too bad to me... Anyone using the Google app that would care to chime in?
View 9 Replies View Relatedfor some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.

To me the text is huge, and therefore the inbox list is shorter and you only get a small preview of the info. Is there a simple way to reduce that text size that I just haven't been able to find?

I have just realised the benefits of putting everything onto your Google account, and how it auto stores and updates your addresses, numbers, and emails etc. is there any way to change your phone contacts to Google contacts? without having to type them all out again. I can not seen to find how to do this.
