So when I receive a text and don't exit out of the messaging app when I get a text i get no notification at all, no vibration, ring or alert. Is this normal or if not is there anyway to fix it?

I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
I've been developing this app for a while now. Texdro makes it possible to receive an MSN-like notification on your computer as you receive a text message on your phone. If you click the notification you can send back a response. More features like conversations and such will come.

When I put my phone into vibrate mode (either by using the rocker, or going through settings) my phone vibrates when receiving calls, but not when receiving emails or texts, they just stay silent, so I am completely unaware that I have received anything. Is this actually how Motorolla designed it's phone, or am I making a mistake? I receive texts/emails much more than phone calls, but am not always in an environment where I can have my ringer going off. Is there a way to set my text and email alerts (and any other alerts [voicemail, etc.]) to vibrate when in vibrate mode.

It cannot be changed through notification ringtone menu; all that succeeds in doing is changing tone for other notifications like email etc. Have tried to select other notification tones, but it is the "tada" tone that always comes up when SMS is received. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am thinking there is probably a solution to this but I am unable to find it. When you are on the phone and receive a text I do not get any sort of alert. Previous phones would give me a beep or something to let me know I had gotten a text. However if your phone is set to vibrate as well as ring when you get a text the vibrations still go off but without any noise. It wouldnt be a big deal except the vibrate noise apparently is very audible and annoying to whoever you are on the phone with. I am one of the few who really like the stock messaging application so I am not using hancent or anything like that. Any ideas would be appreciated

Recently, I have been facing some issues with not hearing or feeling text messages because I miss the tone or buzz of the phone, even with the max volume on. Is there a setting where I can make the phone repeatedly give me an alert and/or vibrate when I get a text message? For example it is now 8:22PM my time, if I were to get a text message now the alert would have a time of 3:22PM. The other strange thing about it is that when I view the text message inside the text messaging application the time is correct. I just noticed this problem the other day, but it's possible it began when I updated to 2.2 the earlier in the week. Any ideas?

On my Eris, it appears in my music section. How do I set it as my notification sound? It is not appearing in the "sound" list for notifications.
Ive searched through the forums, and no one seems to have this exact question. When everyone other than my girlfriend texts me, my phone vibrates and plays the notification sound. Now, when my girlfriend texts me, I get no vibration, AND no sound. The only thing I could think of is that I gave my girlfriend a custom ringtone I made with ringdroid, but that wouldn't make any sense since its for a call, not a text. Please help me, shes getting mad at me when I respond 2 hours later.

View 5 Replies View Relatedhi quys recently installed handcent sms app, prefer it to the stock app. just when i recieve a new message both the stock sms & handcent sms app log the recieved text. i have tried to see if you can remove the stock app from manage apps but dont have the option. am i overlooking something? as its annoying having two alerts all the time! cheers for reading & hope i am making sense!!

The software is all up to date, ive reset the alert tone in the notification settings, and im afraid thats all my knowledge used up. Ringtone sound is fine and it also vibrates for that.

Sometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.

I assumed that there would be an easy way to copy the number from my contacts and paste it into a text message. However I couldn't work it out and had to go down the traditional route of writing it on a piece of paper then sending the text! View 2 Replies View RelatedI had my Desire for for a couple of months & love it but the mrs has just got a Wildfire & i have noticed when i text a message the TO box and the TAP TO COMPOSE boxes are about the same size with a big black box in between them that you cannot drag to alter size when the phone is held upright but on the Wildfire the TAP TO COMPOSE box is the is massive with a send & a attach button on the side when held upright. How do you alter this on the desire? When both phones are turned on the side the TAP TO COMPOSE box is big on both. Also the Wildfire has a torch app which uses the LED on the camera which is not on the Desire but the screen is so dull compared to my phone.

I have my phone on silent/vibrate when I'm at work, and I have sometimes found that a text comes in while I'm away from my desk and I don't discover this until later. Or even when I've got the sound switched on I don't always notice it if I'm in a noisy environment, or maybe I don't feel the vibration in my pocket. My previous phones have always produced the alert tone/vibration every few minutes until I read the message. Can this be done with the Desire, and how?

I get the normal 1 and now a another 1 saying new message(s) which will clear if i click. Also my text message ringtone plays twice also. I use SMS popup as well, but i have been using that for at least 3 months with no problems.
