View 2 RepliesLast night I was trying to send a friend anothers friends mobile number via a text message. I assumed that there would be an easy way to copy the number from my contacts and paste it into a text message. However I couldn't work it out and had to go down the traditional route of writing it on a piece of paper then sending the text! Hardly a good advert for the new 'uberphone' that the desire is billed as! So, is there a way to do it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot a HTC desire but having problems entering the message centre number. Every time I enter the number and go back the main menu and go back the message settings it has not saved. Confirmed with TMobile that the number is correct but they couldn't help me further.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if anyone knew how to, or if theres an app to insert a telephone number in a text message. I don't mean that vcard business either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a friend who is added to my Desire's contact list.
1. He is on my Facebook contact. (His facebook pic appears in my Desire contact list)
2. He is my Gmail contact as well.
3. He is added as a 'Phone Contact' as well.
I sent him a text few days ago but don't remember if it was using facebook or my phone (network provider sms) but now when I go in to 'Messages' and send him a message, I just can't figure out if I am sending him a message via Facebook or to his mobile number.
I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.
I found that in SmsMessage class, it has an instance of method named "getServiceCenterAddress( )". this method could get the Message Center Address from message's pdu that you recived.
But my application want get this address directly, and base on it to do some performance.
Is there have any method directly to get "Message Center Service Number" ?
There seems to be a limit to the number of SMS that can be sent programmatically. It seems to be hovering around 70 to 100 messages. After a batch of messages, when I try to resend a batch I get a warning message "A large number of SMS are being sent. Press OK to continue or Cancel to stop sending" This requires user intervention and impedes the program from sending SMS. Is there a way around this error message? Maybe a way to turn off the warnings?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince the 2.1 OTA, I noticed in my contacts that it shows ALL phone numbers as numbers to send messages to.Previously, message numbers were all set to just the mobile numbers. I don't see any easy way to fix this.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI received a GV voicemail message from a number I didn't recognize. The person leaving the message said someone had called the number. I don't know the person. My phone definitely didn't dial the number. On top of that, my phone didn't ring and the number isn't registered as a missed call. I can't see any reason why I would've gotten this voicemail.
I use Google Voice specifically for voicemail forwarding and have never used my Google Voice phone number. Any idea what the issue could be?
I had a call/sms blocker installed. Easy filter I believe. I've unblocked the person and now when ever I try to call i get a message saying the number is no longer in service.
Or when I try to text my phone gives me an error of class 255 cause 3. Now this person can send me texts just fine but for some reason my phone will not send anything to them.
I've uninstalled the app. reinstalled and unblocked again. done a naand restore, wipe, and everything I can think of. I just don't get why my phone is doing this.
How can I query all the MMS/SMS messages from the same phone number?
View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing k9 mail (v4.311) on my android device. I have it set to retrieve at most 500 messages.
However, this does not limit the actual # of messages stored on the device itself. My initial assumption was that after 500 messages were retrieved, on subsequent retrievals, new emails would replace the oldest. This does not seem to be the case. As new messages are received, old ones still remain.
Is there a way to set this software to keep at most a certain # of message - that is, to have new messages REPLACE older ones?
If not, what software/app provides this functionality?
when i go to compose a new text message and start typing a friends name.. their mobile number comes up twice..
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn iOS within any app, multiple options are available when clicking on a phone number contained within any text in any app. Eg: save to contacts, call, message etc etc.
Today somebody sent me their number in a Facebook message and the only option I had in the "complete action using" popup when clicking on the number was to call it or Skype it.
I wanted to SMS it, or at least save it to contacts.
Using 4.3 on an HTC One. And GoSMS
When I send text messages to individual it sends them as plain SMS, this works with my free allocation of texts. When I send text messages to a group (a list of 7 individuals) it sends them as 7 "Picture Messages" - this costs me money!. The message has no pictures and is short? How can I force the phone to not send picture messages?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am switching from a BB. I receive text messages from my office with client's phone numbers. We prefer to keep our mobile numbers private, so we need to block our caller id on a per call basis. It wouldn't work for us to block caller id on all calls. On my BB, I would copy and paste the number and then add *67 as a prefix.
On the Hero I can't find a way to edit the phone number from the text message. I can delete it, but can't add to it. Most of these numbers I would not want to add to my address book. I had my office text the number with *67 as a prefix, but the Hero doesn't recognize the *. It just copies the digits. What workaround options do I have?
I can text anyone outside my area code, but when I try it with anyone in my area code I get a message that says to use the proper 10 digit phone number. I understand what that means, and have the 10 digit numbers programed for all my contacts, but when I hit on a contact and hit the text button only the 7 digit number comes up. That works fine with voice calls, but not with texting. I've been through my phone 20 times trying to find a way to make it use a 10 digit number for texting, can't find it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhenever I text only a few specific people I get a message saying
9230: Message sent using invalid number of digits. Please resend using 10 digit number or valid short code. Msg 2114
All of my contacts numbers and in 10 digits example: 123 - 456 - 7890 this only happens with certain contacts but I don't see what the issue is. Does anyone else get this issue or know how to fix it?
I want to make an application that should dial a number and play a prerecorded message on the call...
Can you please give me a clue if this can be done?
I have a captivate. When I compose a text message the persons number initially shows up as the ten digits. Now when I close out of the text message and try to go back and serbs something the persons number shows up as only 7 digits. When I try to send a text with only the 7 numbers I get a return error message saying
8852662 Error Invalid Number. Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number.
When sending a text message, I click on "new message," then type in the person's name.
When I do, it will show the person's name and phone number more than 20+ times! It's actually doing this for every contact I have, but only when I'm searching for a name when I'm trying to send a text message.
It doesn't affect my sending or receiving of messages, but it's a little annoying.
Just noticed that when I click on the "People" icon from home screen that some of my contact names are listed more than a dozen times!
My friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.
Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.
HTC Desire Message app jumps back to top of thread
Since I've installed 2.2 the message app on the desire jumps to the top of a message thread randomly while I'm writing a message meaning I have to scroll to the bottom again. This can be very annoying in thread which I have lots of messages. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I am facing one problem in message view. Bacically what I need to do is in message view I want to mark any telephone number or web address in different color. Can anyone please tell me where exactly the text is been written in Message View? On clicking this items it should launch appropriate event. If anyone touches a telephone number it should launch the dialer or if it is a valid email address then it should launch the Compose message event and so on.
Another question is whether to display message is Android uses the WebView?
This is more of an annoyance, but whenever I reply to a message off the home screen widget, it automatically defaults to the home number for that contact, instead of replying to the same (cell) number that it was sent from. If I go into the messaging app, it works as it should (replies to the same number).

View 3 Replies View RelatedFirst off, I have to say this phone is amazing and by far the best handset I've ever had.ight, my problem. I use Outlook contacts at work and had a Windows mobile before this one. The contacts appeared to sync into Desire no problem with HTC Sync and I was using phone with no issues. I then decided to see if I could have mail sent to phone like a Blackberry. I went to 'accounts & sync' and set up my work domain etc. The email side of it works fine. since then I noticed that my contacts in 'People' are normal. When I go to send a text, everything from a contact is listed twice. I use Handcent, but it happens in HTC message app as well. Each contact has 'linked' in top right corner and if i tap it the two contacts for the same person are 'Phone' and 'Exchange'. Any ideas how I can remove one of these?
Is HTC Sync, syncing with Outlook and the Desire sync settings are syncing with the Exchange? Any help on how best to set this up is appreciated. I do want to have Outlook contacts as they are full of notes about customers.
When i go to Menu - Settings - About phone - Phone identity, it lists my phone number as unknown.Anyone know how to change it or add my number to it?
View 22 Replies View RelatedFirst post, go easy! Bought myself an unbranded/unlocked Desire this week and still getting to grips! Anyway, I was previously on vodafone with another phone, and stuck a new Virgin Mobile simcard in my Desire. Everything fine and hunky dorey. Then today I've had my old vodafone number ported onto my Virgin sim card. That *works* in that people can call me on it etc. However, when I go into Settings -> About Phone -> Phone Identity the phone number is wrong, its the number that originally came with my Virgin simcard, not the number that is now associated with it.
