Let me start by saying that i get excellent 3g speeds and reception. My issue is that often during long calls, i find that my phone switches to edge or often gprs. after the phone call, it quickly jumps back to 3g.

I am running Fresh 0.5.3. When I open a contact and scroll down, as soon as it stops it jumps right back to the top. I want to give a contact there own ring tone, but as soon as I get to the bottom, it jumps back up. I can't get it to stay down long enough to make any changes.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen i click on batch, then run to backup my apps it jumps back to the Backup/Restore screen with all the apps, nothing gets backed up. I have backed up before with Titanium and it worked. I reinstalled Busybox, didn't help. If i uninstall and reinstall will i lose all the things i did like freeze apps etc ? When i try to update through the marketplace it says installation error, package file was not signed correctly.

Since I've installed 2.2 the message app on the desire jumps to the top of a message thread randomly while I'm writing a message meaning I have to scroll to the bottom again. This can be very annoying in thread which I have lots of messages. Any ideas on how to fix this?
When I first bought my Samsung Galaxy S, I shut down everything 3G related as my internet bundle didn't kick in until this week. Now I can't seem to switch 3G access back on. I've downloaded APNdroid, but I've clearly left something crucial switched off as 3G still not working. The instruction manual isn't very useful.

I am quite satisfied with it, but i have quite an irritating problem, my GPRS keeps on going back every now and then, like once every 2 minutes and then i have to turn the Flight mode on/off to bring it back. It might not be a problem in countries where 3G is available but here in India it's quite unsettling to see such a nuance in such a wonderful OS. I know it's not a problem with the carrier(Vodafone for me) as nokia phones work seamlessly in the same area.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had to remove my sim card, which means that I had to remove my battery. After doing so, I put my sim card back in, followed by the battery, and after pushing the power button, the battery indicator started flashing green and orange.
The screen isn't turning on, and absolutely nothing is happening.
I've been pouring over google trying to find a solution, but haven't found any that worked.
One suggestion suggested that I hold the power button for 10-15 seconds, then plug it into power, then add battery. This did not work.
Another suggested the opposite- hold power for 10-15 seconds, add battery, then add power cord, still no luck.
I freaking love this phone. I really, really, really want to fix it. If there are any, ANY suggestions as to what I could do to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated. I tried to call HTC for support, but, wouldn't you know it, couldn't get to a phone before EXACTLY one minute before they closed.
When my phone is charging my screen tends to jump a bit when I'm scrolling, has anyone else noticed this? If I scroll up or down and leave my finger in the screen, the screen will jump up and down in small jerky movements around my finger. I also noticed while playing breakout that the slider will have jerky movement as well while charging. Hope I'm not the only one who experiences this, it's not a big deal but bothers me. Does not happen when not charging. Also, some times when trying to tap the screen and select something does your droid randomly scroll down maybe 8% of the time? I have this issue as well.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I first bought it, I was not happy with the features it was offering so I searched and found out about the CM7(Cyanogenmod 7) mod, and decided that I wanted to try out a modded phone. I've been using CM7 for a few years now and have just plain become unhappy with what they're putting out and decided that I finally wanted my phone back to being normal and rooted. I booted into my clockworkmod(after backing up all apps/data with TitaniumBackup pro & taking pics/vids/etc off through USB) and decided to wipe my sdcard and all other options that Clockworkmod offers. After doing that I realized I made a horrible mistake...every time I go to reboot my phone, it ends up back at the boot menu and at the top it says "Fastboot Mode - No boot or recovery IMG" how would I go about resetting my phone back to a normal OS without being able to transfer stuff onto it without it being booted and having a USB option.

The only way I can see to activate my blank screen is to press the power button which ends my call. Is there a setting somewhere that I can change?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my Moto Droid since it basically came out last Nov and I have never ever run into a problem with the phone until last night. I had a phone call and after I got off the phone, I noticed my droid reseted itself and it wasn't going back to the home screen. Meaning it would just display the word "Droid" then go right into the droid red eye screen, then right back to the word Droid and just kept repeating itself.
I took the battery out and put it back in, but it kept doing the same thing. I am really not sure what would cause my phone to do this, but the only new change I can think of was that I installed the "TMZ" application to my droid about 3 hours prior to this happening. But the application worked fine and I really hope it wasn't because of that. Is there anything I can do before going to Verizon? I would really hate giving up my phone with all my stuff in it, but I know theres probably not much I can do if I cant even get to the home screen.
This has happened to me several times in slightly different cases. Several times I've mistakenly placed calls to the wrong people (due to just messing around with the phone).
In a panic, I pressed the "back" button thinking that it will cancel the call. It didn't. I also tried the "home" button. Also no good.
I had to drag down the notifications bar to see the phone call in progress and finally access the red Hang Up button. That worked. The problem is that is is SLOW. And worse, one time the phone would not respond to the button press until after several tries (maybe the CPU was busy on something).
Anycase, that would appear to be a major problem with all these touchscreen-only smartphones - lack of a physical Hangup button.
Is there any workarounds to this? Perhaps some sequence or combo of the existing physical buttons to forcefully hangup an errant call?
I am a new SE user and am still getting to grips with using the phone's features. Could anyone advise how to transfer a call from a headset back to the phone and phone to headset? Whilst I am asking inane questions, is it possible to use the phone i.e. return to menu when in a call?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i rooted with Droid Does rom, because i heard its nice and fast and what not. So basically the only problem i have with it is this.
When on a call, the proximity sensor doesnt work, so the screen goes black. And when i press the end call button to turn the screen back on it just ends the call. Is this normal? Or a known issue?
I have two questions:
1) Before the update, there was a sound that indicated when the call was ended. Anyway to get that back?
2) Has anyone figured out a way to change the end button behavior that was previously controlled by the Spare Parts app? I would like to end button to go home and then go to sleep but Spare Parts can't do it under the new software. Any ideas?
Is it possible to make a call from an activity and make sure the activity doesn't keep running while the call is in session? And, once the user is done with the call (by pressing the hangup button or whatever), the call log screen wouldn't get shown and the user would be directed to a new activity within the application. I know there's ways to detect calls and call hangups through services, but, I'm not sure if it's possible to make an activity from an app pop up as soon as a call is over.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using LauncherPro plus and cannot get back to the call screen to disconnect the call, the one in progress, if i leave that screen for any reason like to go to the home screen.If I switch over to HTC Sense I just hit the phone button from the home screen and it takes me back to the call in progress and I see a red 'end call' button.Is there a solution for this problem other than , just don't leave the call screen?

I am trying to transfer about 14,000 SMS from an unrooted 2.3.5 Android to a rooted 4.2.1 Android phone.
MyBackup Pro backs them up quickly, but restores them at a rate of less than 1/second. Thus, I have been looking for another tool to back up with:
1. Titanium Backup: no, as the 2.3.5 phone is unrooted;
2. new Windows-based Ultimate Backup Tool: no, as it requires Android 4.0 or greater.
Any recommendations, other than running the restore tool all night? A tool that allowed me to back the SMS up in chronological blocks could be very useful.
I am thinking of getting a HTC Hero. I am not well up on smart phones. I do like the iPhone but that seem way too expensive compared to the deal I can get on the Hero. On Google Maps, the manual says the phone needs connected toi wifi oir gprs for GM to work. I am going on holiday and dont want to use a huge amount of GPRS in case the bill starts to mount up for international usage. Can the maps for the area I am going to be cached on the phone in some way?
The other question I have is - can the phone be used as a GPS tracker. Say, recording my location every 10 seconds. Then downloading this to my PC and Google Maps when I get home so i can trace wherev I have been. On comparisons between the Hero and iPhone - this is nearly like a religious debate. Is the Hero a fair match for the iPhone.
I'm trying to figure out if I should ask verizon for a new battery. My eris battery life last me a full day, but my battery drops to 85% within the first hour after my phone is removed from the charger. The battery than dies slower from that point on. I figure this may be a bad battery or bad meter. Is there a way to calibrate the battery meter?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm loving my fascinate so far except for one really annoying feature (other than bing, of course). Whenever my screen goes off, the phone locks itself, and I'm forced to use the puzzle piece or the unlocked grid. This happens every time the screen auto shuts off, or when I shut it off manually with the power button. Is there a way for a non-root user to delay the autolocking to something like 30 minutes or so? As far as i can tell, there is no setting for it, only the screen timeout setting. Its annoying to keep having to unlock the phone, especially if I am driving. Anyone have any ideas?

Normally I have great battery life but sometimes my phone dies extremely quickly and it says that the dialer is using all the battery. Does anyone know what is happening and how I can prevent this?
