Android :: How To Delete Single Message Of A Conversation?
Oct 13, 2010I dislike G Mail because of the threading and it is SLOW but it would appear to be the only email client on android that can forward html so I'm stuck with it. How in the world do you delete an individual message of a conversation without deleting the entire conversation? When I expand a conversation, the messages have reply, reply all and forward at the bottom of the message but no delete. The delete button at the bottom of the screen (between archive and older) only wants to delete the whole conversation. What am I missing?

Oct 17, 2009I have a common problem with my heros sense UI or at least a HTC widget, the message widget. Not only is it the most laggy widget ever, but sometimes it bugs for me so that I can only go two messages down, not able to scroll further downwards to other conversations - only upwards. Anyone else tried this or know why it happens?

Aug 28, 2010I am trying to programmatically open an individual email in the Gmail app on Android.
I know it can be done because the built-in notifications send you to a message when you click on them and there's an app on the market called Gmail Notifier which does it as well.
What I've tried so far:
-send an ACTION_VIEW intent with the message URI as data (failed - cannot resolve URI)
-send an intent to open HtmlConversationActivity in the Gmail package (failed - "requires permission: null")
Would it help to add flags or a category to the intent? If so, which one(s)?
I know that the Gmail app is not well-documented, but it drives me mad that there is definitely a way to do it and I just can't figure it out!
P.S.: This is the first time I'm posting on stackoverflow, so I apologise in advance if I have ignored any conventions.
HTC Incredible :: View SMS Message Again To Refer Back To It / Continue Conversation At Later Time?
Apr 30, 2010I installed and have been using Google Voice for SMS on my new amazing Incredible. I get a notification when I get a new SMS but after I view the notification and close the threaded message box, I can't find how to view the SMS message again to refer back to it or continue the conversation at a later time. Anyone else know?

Oct 15, 2009I love the Hero - dont get me wrong - I am running the latest orange rom but I have a few issues- hopefully some one can help me solve...
1 - Dropped calls - no matter who or where I am calls drop about 25% of the time. I can be sitting at home doing nothing but talking then drop.. it happens alot.. starting to annoy me..
2 - Failed to send texts - I am having a text conversation then a random message stops and wont deliver - retry - retry again - wait a minute or 2 and retry - it works.... this is getting very anoying.. again about 25% of the time.
3 - Internet connection - (3g) - after about 4 or 5 clicks it will lock up and display page not found... wait about a minute - retry and again it works... this is about 40% of the time
4 - my friend sends me a text message/ missed call with a new number. I cant add it to an existing contact - it only allows you to add a new contact. plus copy and paste doesnt work at these points. - i end up having to write the number down and then edit the contact.
5- T9 - when I add a word to the library - it doesnt remember the word in my text - I have to type it in again and then it predicts it (minor but annoying). this phone is awsome as a gadget - but pretty crap as a phone. any one got any advice on how to help ?
HTC Desire :: Interesting Conversation With Three
Aug 24, 2010Rang the Three call centre today to try and find out when those of us unfortunate enough to have a desire tied to a network would get 2.2, I had some quite comical conversations!
1. First gentleman (with a very English name!) stated that it was down to HTC to relase the update and when they were ready they would issue it out, told me to phone HTC no matter how much I told him he was wrong
2. Called HTC who were excellent and suggested I call Three again and reiterate to them that its down to the network provider to issue an update.
3. Second gentleman again with a very English name said I could simply download 2.2 from Android developers website and load it onto my phone, this would mean I bypass the official Three update.
I was under the understanding that my phone with Three branding was locked to a network? Is this man right that I can download a SDK file (what is a SDK file?) and simply load the new software onto the phone basically rendering it unbranded?
As for the original point of when the official Three upgrades will be issued.... Nothing, had no idea apart from to say not to long!
HTC Desire :: SMS Conversation - Notification LED
May 19, 2010Took delivery of my new HTC Desire yesterday and as a first impression, I like it, just a lot to get used to!
My first question that springs to mind, is that whilst a conversation view is handy and can see the benefit, is there any way to turn it OFF and instead have a standing SMS Inbox style, each received message having it's own entry so you can just open and view it? (like SMS inboxes on most normal phones?).
and my Second questions .. I have it set so the LED flashes if I've had a message when away from the phone (handy when on silent), BUT, when the charger is plugged in the orange LED is lit, and the LED doesn't flash, so you have no idea there's a message/notification there waiting for you, unless you keep pressing the power button to check, which isn't ideal as it can get a bit OCD "have a got a new message ... no ... what about now ... no .. oooo now?" and so on .. so not sure if there's a setting I've missed, or if thats just the normal behaviour when it's plugged in charging!
HTC Desire :: SMS Conversation Jumps To Top When Writing
Sep 25, 2010Since upgrading to 2.2 the messaging app is randomly jumping to the top of the conversation when I'm writing a text. I can't work out if there's any pattern, it's not a particular keypress or message length. The only work around is to either scroll down again (inpractical in an 800 message conversation) or press back to save as a draft and then edit the draft. The annoying thing is that the bug where the conversation jumped to the bottom after deleting or locking a text has been fixed.

Nov 20, 2009So I have returned back to the stock Message app for SMS mainly because no other app has a photo next to each message like the stock one does.
But I was wondering if there is a way to control how many messages show up in each conversation? Like, say I am having a conversation with Bob. When I open up our conversation, it shows EVERY SINGLE message between us two, all the way from our very first text. And so scrolling and browsing through our conversations can get laggy.
Is there anyway to just show the recent messages in the conversation? I know in ChompSMS, it automatically does that, and if you scroll to the top of the conversation, theres an option to "show older messages."

HTC Desire :: Message Alert Icon Shows Message - But No Message
May 26, 2010I've been having a problem with my desire home screen (in particular the sms icon) and I'm wondering if anyone else knows how to fix it.
Recently my messages icon has been showing the little "1" in a green circle indicating I have an unread message. Problem is, I've gone through every list of messages I have on the device and there are no messages I haven't read and the "1" stays there. The only ways I've found to get rid of it are to either delete the icon and then put it back or to use Advance Task Killer and kill messages application. I'm not using any fancy apps for messages, just the default one.
My email counter is always perfect, this only seems to affect my sms. Also, my girlfriend told me she sent me a message a few days ago, but I never received it. Not sure if that's a happy coincidence, or if the phone got the message, is telling me I haven't read it, but isn't displaying it for me to see. All the other messages from her are plainly visible.

The message has no pictures and is short?How can I force the phone to not send picture messages?

Since I've installed 2.2 the message app on the desire jumps to the top of a message thread randomly while I'm writing a message meaning I have to scroll to the bottom again. This can be very annoying in thread which I have lots of messages. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Nov 17, 2010Just searched all around but can not find any thread related to this problem.I don't have any other SMS app installed on my Desire (like handcent), but when message is received I get to hear the same sound two times and two mail icons pop-ups in the upper left corner, There is an non rooted unbranded Desire, with Froyo. Couple of days ago reseted to factory default. Everything was done well except this thing.

Apr 24, 2010When I try to do this to a group with more than 6 people, it converts the message to a mms and wants to use there email and wont add any more than 10 contacts.This way is messed up, I have made several groups of 7 different sets of contacts, They all change to MMS Message when selecting any of those groups.I can send a group message by doing the below actions without any problem for some reason though, Which TBH is just more hasse.
