Now hotmail supports PUSH email I figured I'd give it a go on my Desire but everytime I add the account, I always get an error message saying:

The problem I had was when trying to sync my Evo 4g to Exchange 2010. I continually got the message "Failed to create the account. Please try again later". After searching on this site and trying everything on every thread, I was about to throw my hands up and send it back when I found the solution. This solution appears to not be posted on this site, so I figured I would help out others that might run into the problem in the future. I have done this now 2 or 3 times for other users that have had this issue and it has corrected it. I don't claim this solution will work for everyone, it simply what I did to correct for my users. I would suggest trying what other threads have as solutions before trying this one.

I have run a full system scan and changed my password etc. However, I can no longer access my hotmail account on my HTC Desire via the Mail icon - I keep getting a "login failed" message. This is obviously due to my password change. How can I change my password on the Desire so I can regain access to my email account?

I know they started the wave 4 rollout today. They've said it will be rolled out in pieces and isn't due to finish until August but they don't give any idea to who will get which features when. So if you find out the exchange setting for Hotmail / Windows Live Mail post them here.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI previous had email working fine on my Droid Eris with the 2.1 OTA. However today after updating my password, the Exchange ActiveSync account will not work on my phone. It gets past the authentication phase, however it seems to have issues saving the account on my phone.After some research, I have found documented cases of simlar issues on other hardware but not the Eris. Is anyone else having this issue, and what changed? Ive had it working on 2.1 OTA, but it will not work now.In my research I came across the following site, is it legit? It seems kind of sketchy, and I dont have the knowledge to determine if it is harmful or not.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Incredible running 2.1 when it was first released, setup my Exchange ActiveSync account, and noticed that my only option under Mail Size Limit is to download Headers Only. This got annoying very quickly, as I have to click 'Get Remaining' on every single email, regardless of the size. I researched this issue when the phone first came out and came up with nothing on it, and two other guys at work with the Droid Eris on 1.5 don't have this issue, they get the full range of size options to download.
Fast forward to today, one of the guys with the Eris installed the update to Android 2.1, and now he has the exact same problem I do. When I saw his issue, I started to research it again now that a month or so has passed, but I still can't seem to find any documentation or reports of similar issues.
Anybody else see this behavior with 2.1 + Exchange? I can't see it being a problem server-side since it works under 1.5, but my phone can download the whole message if I setup a regular POP account.
I am having an issue with my HTC Evo 3D where I am unable to have more than one active Exchange Activesync (EAS) account syncing. I'm trying to have my work e-mail and my hotmail account with push using EAS. What I have tried:
- Setting up my work e-mail, then my hotmail. Can receive work e-mails instantly, but not with hotmail.
- Setting up my hotmail, then my work e-mail. Can receive hotmail e-mails instantly, but not with my work e-mail.
- Setting up my work e-mail in one mail client, and my hotmail in a separate client. Same issues as above, one receiving push e-mail and the other not.
If I set up one and then the other in the default HTC mail client, the first one will work with push the but second one won't. BUT, if I then do a manual sync to make the second one "catch up", that second one will start receiving with push but the first one no longer does. I can keep doing this, and it seems like only one can be "active" at a time.
I've tried different clients with the same results, and tried Touchdown which many people recommend, but Touchdown is built to allow only one active profile at a time (so only one EAS account pushing or polling).
I'm beginning to think it's a device limitation on the Evo 3D but it would be great to get around that - I've seen bits and pieces around saying that, due to licencing, iPhones can have up to 5 EAS accounts at a time, and different Android phones can have varying numbers, but haven't seen anything particularly clear or definitive.
Been reading hotmail is now available to be setup as an exchange account. I've been readying have successfully been able to setup their droid phones this way but heard EVO users were having difficulties. I was not able to sync with the hotmail exchange account and wanted to see if any other Evo users have been successful.

just got my desire this morning and i don't really know what i'm doing with it, i've never had a smart phone before. i've set up my hotmail account as the email account on the phone but, call me paranoid, i'd rather not have it on there at all. if i delete the account on the phone will it have any detremental effect on the actual email account?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Desire last week and Synced it with our Kerio Mail Server 6.7.0 patch 1. Had to add the line to allow unsupported devices as it was giving some connection issues and then worked fine after that. The problem has been with the syncing of the contacts. It syncs fine for about the first few syncs and then it gives an error on the phone "failed to connect to the server" But it syncs mail and the calendar perfectly. The issue is that the syncing of the contacts is second on the list of 3 items to sync as per the phone. So it syncs mail first - fine, contacts second - error and then calendar - fine. I removed my contacts from my mail on the server and it still didn't update on the phone. So wasn't communicating with the server as per the error. If I delete my contacts on the phone, it then connects fine to the server and I get my contacts back. Works fine for about a few syncs and then without adding or deleting any contacts I get the error message back.

After synchronizing it shows only few folders from my mail box (around 5) where i got around 50. I tried to delete the account and recreate it -> no change I give a try to Touchdown app, and it retrieve all folders. I don't want to use another app than the one given with my HTC, so here is why I post this topic.

I'm trying to get my HTC Desire syncing email with my company's Exchange 2007 server, but I'm getting an "Error when doing SSL" error when I hit the "Sync now" button under "Accounts & sync". My searches on the forums seem to suggest that this issue usually arises when you use a self-signed SSL certificate, but my company uses a certificate signed by Comodo, so I would have thought that would be fine. Workmates using iPhones don't have any problems connecting to Exchange, so I'm left scratching my head as to why I'm having this problem.
It's also a little weird because, when I enter my username, password, server name, etc. it seems to update my mail alright the first time, but then comes up with this error every check after that, and always fails to sync my calendar and contacts.
Do Android 2.1 phones not come with the root certificate for Comodo or something?
Im having some trouble with exchange activesync over the air. I have it set to dl my mail and calendar but if i access that mail account from elsewhere with webmail all of a sudden my phone will not sync anymore.
If i delete the account off my phone and reset it up it works again, but only until i use it elsewhere and then no more sync...I use the mail widget too.
I can't seem to connect to Exchange to sync my emails. I have gone through the manual setup process and checked all the settings are correct. I verified account information fine but then i get to the Exchange ActiveSync Settings page where i have to select the data i want to synchronise - contacts, email, calendar.

I've got my emails working fine on the gmail app, but for some reason when I try to sync gmail with ActiveSync exchange I keep getting 'authentication error'. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to resolve it? Also, anyone who's got it working could you let me know your settings? I think I'm using the correct ones but might as well check.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new Desire HD. Up until 2 days ago, everything was working perfectly with my Outlook Exchange Account on the native Android Mail application. Running Android 2.2
Since then, there is something wrong with our Outlook certificate, and when I launch Outlook on my PC, I get a message that the name on the certificate is not valid. Ok, fine. So on the PC, I press "OK" and I am off and running.
On the Desire, I still get email, but if I try to SEND and email, it neither reaches the recipient, nor does the email end up in the "Sent" mail folder. When I go to "Accounts and Sync" and look at the Exchange account, I also see that i have a sync protocol error on Contacts syncing.
Now, I have installed Touchdown, and I CAN send email from here. Also, I have a friend who has an older Android phone that does not seem to be affected in a similar fashion connecting to the same exchange server.
Problem: The Touchdown app is kind of a pain from a user interface standpoint when you try to edit a contact. and it costs $20. And, I really prefer the native Mail widgets and stuff.
I am stuck using Touchdown at the moment so that I can send and receive emails, but I am hoping to find a workaround. Our IT people are working on the certificate problem, so maybe that will help. HOWEVER, I cannot afford to be without email every time there is a certificate problem.
I have configured this to push and its working fine in terms of sending and receiving emails. The main problem I have is that it loses sync with the exchange account. If I delete from the device it sometimes does not remove them from my outlook and viceversa. Has anyone else got this phone connected to an exchange 2003 server SP2 ? Also has anyone managed to get any other folders to sync other than the inbox ?

However, I was looking at an FAQ this morning on my company's IT site on supporting Android devices thinking it might be a possibility. Currently personally funded Blackberry, iPhone and Windows mobile devices are supported for connection to our Microsoft Exchange email services.
I noticed the following in an FAQ in regards to Android support, is this true? I thought the Evo supports ActiveSync?
Question: How can I access my corporate email on my Android device?
Answer: At the moment, XYZ does not support Android due to its lack of ActiveSync support (access to Microsoft Exchange email). When/If this option becomes available, updates will be posted through the Mobile Device website.
Question: When will Android be an option for users?
Answer: XYZ has decided that we will not support the Android for corporate email at this time. If/When Android supports ActiveSync we will re-evaluate.
Question: How about if I have a personally funded Android phone?
Answer: Presently, corporate email access is not available for any Android devices due to its lack of ActiveSync support (access to Microsoft Exchange email).
ActiveSync has been working just fine with our Exchange Server 2007 for the past 6 months. However, today we updated from 2007 to 2010 server and the server address changed from exchange.xxxx.com to remote.xxxx.com and I cannot figure out how to change this on the settings. The only thing that it will allow me to edit is the password. I press on the server address and it will not do anything. I have deleted the account on my phone and re-entered it hoping that it will let me edit manually. I get the error message, "Your microsoft exchange server account does not have permission to synchronize with your current settings. Contact your exchange server admin". I made sure the spelling is correct and our Admin is well, not up to the challenge.

Haven't had a call from the Exchange police yet. Just an FYI in hopes to save a few people some money.

Everything is working well apart from when the phone has been in-active & is locked I am required to enter my Exchange password to unlock. This is required to use the non Exchange functions also, as you might imagine this is very tedious.
