My 1st android phone so pretty new to it all, managed to get my gmail working but cant get hotmail working. Also another question is can I get the contacts just to display only phone contacts rather then all phone, facebook and email contacts?

very new to my X10 and the Android program.
1) Please explain to me how to set up my hotmail account on the e-mail setup as i get an error message everytime i type the address and password in.
2)The Android website states I have entered my Credit Card details incorrectly everytime i try to purchase an app whether it's in dollars (eg Doodle Jump) Euro's etc
3)How can I put movies on my phone that are on my laptop?
Probably being laughed at but basic things that you don't get told unless you ask.
just got my desire this morning and i don't really know what i'm doing with it, i've never had a smart phone before. i've set up my hotmail account as the email account on the phone but, call me paranoid, i'd rather not have it on there at all. if i delete the account on the phone will it have any detremental effect on the actual email account?

I have run a full system scan and changed my password etc. However, I can no longer access my hotmail account on my HTC Desire via the Mail icon - I keep getting a "login failed" message. This is obviously due to my password change. How can I change my password on the Desire so I can regain access to my email account?

I am able to receive my hotmail emails and can send them back but when I look on my laptop it still showed unread messages on both hotmail and outlook even when I have read them on my phone. I used to have an INQ phone and I didn't have any problems with this before.

Also with a few other HTC phones you can link up your contacts individually to their facebook. With the Desire I've found it just seems to want to add everyone to my contacts. I also synced my new account in gmail, but cant delete the original account without master resetting the phone and I ain't prepared to lose all my personal settings and info.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot my desire yesterday, having defected from Windows Mobile and spent all yesterday and today getting very frustrated! I successfully set up my various email accounts - except one which requires a SSL outgoing SMTP server on port 465. When I put the correct settings into the setup wizard it simply fails to complete the account setup. If I change any of the fields to an incorrect parameter, it gives an error but at least lets me save the settings and exit the wizard.
With the correct settings in place - it communicates with the server stating: "Verifying account information" and then promptly does nothing (it doesn't hang up, it just returns to the SMTP screen). The only way I can get out of the wizard is to enter an incorrect setting. This means that whilst receiving emails on this account is no problem, I am unable to reply to them or send any emails from this account. I know there is nothing wrong with my ISP (T-mobile uk) because I am using the same SIM from my Touch-pro where this account worked fine for the previous 18 months.
I was able to successfully setup a POP account through the Setup Screen...in fact when I go back through Setup, I still see the account. The problem is I can't DO anything with it in setup (including deleting it to start over) and it doesn't show up in my Apps window with an icon! I see it on the setup screen labeled "Setup Accounts" but no matter if I tap it or hold it or swipe it or try to hit the menu key, it just sits there. There is a green button with the checkmark in it. I guess what I would think i ought to be able to do is to assign it an icon (or even get a generic one) and find the account listed on my app screen...I'm willing to reset it, but I can't even delete it to start!

On the BB, there was an option to have both device and server inboxes sync'ed up, for read/unread and deleted emails... wondering if there's some setting to do this on the Android?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 gmail accounts. Unfortunately, one of them is for my calendar and contacts and the other is for my personal e-mail. As of now, my cal and contacts are syncing fine but I do not use the e-mail account that is associated with thier username. I have my other account (personal e-mail) set up sepeartely....along with a few other e-mail accounts(work and etc.). I would like to know if i can leave my cal and contacts setup on the regular droid sync account but change the e-mail account to my personal acct. so it will "push" by default with out having it in a seperate palce on the droid. I know this is confusing but i dont know how else to explian it.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the screen with the sort of blank white canvas with two tabs underneath it - a pencil & 3 horizontal lines?! When you press on it it brings up the screen 'Choose a mail provider' with two options of 'Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync & Other (POP3/IMAP). Both options have thwarted my attempts and to be honest I've no real idea what I am doing. I've synced the phone with my outlook CALENDAR at work, but not the emails - again no idea how to do that! I have set my phone gmail up fine, but a blindfolded crippled donkey could do that.

I've been readying have successfully been able to setup their droid phones this way but heard EVO users were having difficulties. I was not able to sync with the hotmail exchange account and wanted to see if any other Evo users have been successful.

It acts like as if because all of the emails are new to it then it thinks they're new and labels them new so if I have 100 emails that are in my hotmail account none of which are new. I get 100 notifications on my phone as it imports the emails in saying "new" email.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Hotmail account and I downloaded the Hotmail app and set up my email. However, when I delete an email on the phone I would like it NOT to delete on the server. I have tried looking everywhere for this setting ("Never delete from server") on both the app and on the server itself with no luck. I noticed the native email app has this setting but I prefer to use the hotmail app. I have also tried K-9, and while I really like the UI it has not been reliable in delivering my hotmail (gmail gets delivered right away).

I set up a Hotmail account on my Xperia x10 so I can easily check my emails on the phone. However, when I open an email from the phone, it would still show as "unread" when I open my Hotmail account from a laptop / computer. Is there a way this can be changed, so that when an email is opened/read on the phone, it would also show as open/read when I open my Hotmail account from a laptop?

I have a BT Yahoo account working fine on it, but Hotmail refuses to work. O2 have sent me the settings and I have put them in manually too, still nothing works. The phone just sits for hours with the message "checking incoming server settings".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had my x10 fro 3 days. Love most everything except that most of my hotmail access is limited. What happened? No folders or contacts available. Tried tech support, but they were of no help. Said I needed to use gmail instead. Can't change everything over at this late date. Have archived stuff in hotmail going back years. Did I load hotmail to the X10 incorrectly? Is there a way around this? They may get the phone back.
