HTC Incredible :: View SMS Message Again To Refer Back To It / Continue Conversation At Later Time?

Apr 30, 2010

I installed and have been using Google Voice for SMS on my new amazing Incredible. I get a notification when I get a new SMS but after I view the notification and close the threaded message box, I can't find how to view the SMS message again to refer back to it or continue the conversation at a later time. Anyone else know?

HTC Incredible :: View SMS message again to refer back to it / continue conversation at later time?

HTC Incredible :: View Original Message Sent Time?

Aug 24, 2010

One feature of my old Env2 that I really miss and can't seem to find on my Incredible is to find the original time that an SMS message was sent. If I have my phone off for an hour, and turn it back on and receive a text message that was sent at some point in that hour, how can I find out when exactly it was sent? I don't see the option in Handcent or in the Stock Messaging app.

Android :: View Stops Receiving Touch Events When Parent Scrolls / Continue It?

Sep 8, 2010

I have a custom Android view which overrides onTouchEvent(MotionEvent) to handle horizontal scrolling of content within the view. However, when the ScrollView in which this is contained scrolls vertically, the custom view stops receiving touch events. Ideally what I want is for the custom view to continue receiving events so it can handle its own horizontal scrolling, while the containing view hierarchy deals with vertical scrolling.

Is there any way to continue receiving those motion events on scroll? If not, is there any other way to get the touch events I need?

Android :: How To Delete Single Message Of A Conversation?

Oct 13, 2010

I dislike G Mail because of the threading and it is SLOW but it would appear to be the only email client on android that can forward html so I'm stuck with it. How in the world do you delete an individual message of a conversation without deleting the entire conversation? When I expand a conversation, the messages have reply, reply all and forward at the bottom of the message but no delete. The delete button at the bottom of the screen (between archive and older) only wants to delete the whole conversation. What am I missing?

HTC Hero :: Message Widget - Cannot Scroll Downwards To Conversation

Oct 17, 2009

I have a common problem with my heros sense UI or at least a HTC widget, the message widget. Not only is it the most laggy widget ever, but sometimes it bugs for me so that I can only go two messages down, not able to scroll further downwards to other conversations - only upwards. Anyone else tried this or know why it happens?

Android :: Open A Particular Message / Conversation In Gmail App?

Aug 28, 2010

I am trying to programmatically open an individual email in the Gmail app on Android.

I know it can be done because the built-in notifications send you to a message when you click on them and there's an app on the market called Gmail Notifier which does it as well.

What I've tried so far:

-send an ACTION_VIEW intent with the message URI as data (failed - cannot resolve URI)

-send an intent to open HtmlConversationActivity in the Gmail package (failed - "requires permission: null")

Would it help to add flags or a category to the intent? If so, which one(s)?

I know that the Gmail app is not well-documented, but it drives me mad that there is definitely a way to do it and I just can't figure it out!

P.S.: This is the first time I'm posting on stackoverflow, so I apologise in advance if I have ignored any conventions.

HTC Magic :: How To View Entire Gmail Conversation?

Jul 14, 2009

I have a new Rogers HTC Magic. When I check my Gmail I can only view the last message in the conversation. None of the preceding messages in the same conversation can be viewed. The screen only displays the first few words of the prior message. When I click on those words nothing happens. The only way I can view the previous messages is to press menu and then select "mark unread". Is there no other way of viewing the other previous messages in the same conversation?

General :: Email Conversation View And Actions?

Dec 2, 2011

So I just got my first Android device today (switched from a BlackBerry Bold 9700). I love everything about this device so far and I hoping to keep that streak going.

I get a LOT of emails and most are simply replies to the same thread. I love the conversation view (same as I had on my BB), but unlike the BB, I can take actions on the thread as a whole (e.g. Mark as Read and Move to Folder).

How do I do this on the Android?

HTC Incredible :: Phone Turn Back On At Alarm Time Alert

Jun 21, 2010

Only thing I can think of that I miss on my storm. When turning it off, it would alert you it would be turning back on at your alarm time to wake you and would do exactly that. Stock app doesn't do that. I've searched and gone through market apps descriptions looking for this function. At the least I want the alarm to go off when the phones turned off. I don't need it to notify me when its turning on, when its shutting down.

HTC Hero : Text Conversation Random Message Stops - Wont Deliver - Dropped Calls

Oct 15, 2009

I love the Hero - dont get me wrong - I am running the latest orange rom but I have a few issues- hopefully some one can help me solve...

1 - Dropped calls - no matter who or where I am calls drop about 25% of the time. I can be sitting at home doing nothing but talking then drop.. it happens alot.. starting to annoy me..

2 - Failed to send texts - I am having a text conversation then a random message stops and wont deliver - retry - retry again - wait a minute or 2 and retry - it works.... this is getting very anoying.. again about 25% of the time.

3 - Internet connection - (3g) - after about 4 or 5 clicks it will lock up and display page not found... wait about a minute - retry and again it works... this is about 40% of the time

4 - my friend sends me a text message/ missed call with a new number. I cant add it to an existing contact - it only allows you to add a new contact. plus copy and paste doesnt work at these points. - i end up having to write the number down and then edit the contact.

5- T9 - when I add a word to the library - it doesnt remember the word in my text - I have to type it in again and then it predicts it (minor but annoying). this phone is awsome as a gadget - but pretty crap as a phone. any one got any advice on how to help ?

Sprint HTC Hero : Stock "Message" App - Controlling Messages Show Up In A Conversation?

Nov 20, 2009

So I have returned back to the stock Message app for SMS mainly because no other app has a photo next to each message like the stock one does.

But I was wondering if there is a way to control how many messages show up in each conversation? Like, say I am having a conversation with Bob. When I open up our conversation, it shows EVERY SINGLE message between us two, all the way from our very first text. And so scrolling and browsing through our conversations can get laggy.

Is there anyway to just show the recent messages in the conversation? I know in ChompSMS, it automatically does that, and if you scroll to the top of the conversation, theres an option to "show older messages."

HTC Incredible ::Deleting Some Part Of Conversation In SMS Thread?

May 1, 2010

I'm new to Android having just come from Blackberry [loving the change, btw]. However the only thing I am missing. Is there any way within SMS Text Messages you can delete previous parts of the conversation? I see that it saves all my conversation with a person so I have todays conversation and yesterdays too. However, I want to delete all of yesterdays text messages but still keep the conversation thread I'm having currently. Does this make sense? It was something I liked with my old phone- the "delete previous" option. Is there something like this on the HTC Incredible?

Android :: How Do I Refer To Drawable With Variable

Sep 13, 2010

I am doing an app related to football. I have a list view that will have various rows representing teams. In my custom array adapter I want to write some code that will present an icon for the team represented by the row. I have a drawable resource for each team (for instance for Indianapolis, Ind.png). In my code I can't refer to "R.drawable. Ind" because the Ind part is dynamic. That value would be in an array, like TeamArray[position]. As I expected, I certainly can't use R.drawable.TeamArray[position] because it won't even compile, it expects a literal name from the drawable folder. Is there a way to do this?

Android :: Message Sent Time?

Jan 11, 2010

I finally bit the bullet and switch to the HTC Eris from an Env. I am a heavy texter and live just outside of the service area for Verizon. I have downloaded and am using (and happy with) handcent. I have done some searching between this forum and a few others and have not been able to find an answer to my questions regarding sms messaging. It is very likely that I just wasn't searching for the correct terms, and I did find some answers and others that contradicted themselves, so I apologize in advance for starting a repeat thread if any thread nazis want to lecture me on the rights and wrongs of forum etiquette.

1. Is there anyway to see what time a message was sent? On my Env it would tell me what time the sender sent it as well as the time I received it. I like being able to know when mesages were originally sent.
2. Delivery reports. I get what this does, I've seen that some people have said that it really isn't accurate, but does it really have to send the report as a text message? is there anyway to just get a log or confirmation within messaging details?
3. along the same lines I see that under MMS, there is an option for a read report. Is there anyway to get this for sms?
4. Also, if there are any other texting tips/tricks
