I have installed Hand cent for handling my SMS Instructions advise turning off default, but cant see how on the Desire? I am quite disappointed with the phone so far as it has too many niggles, the biggest being not able to auto answer calls, which makes it useless with my �200 Parott hands free. Any ideas how to disable or turn off default message handler?

Am i able to change the inbuilt dictionary as i've added words that shouldn't have and now it is starting to choose them.
I have a hotmail programme and a gmail one. Am i able to amalgamate them into one programme. They also do not seem to get email unless i manually refresh. I have gone into settings but it seems to be ok in there regarding when and how often i want it updated.
Battery seems to be a real stinker, I'm getting roughly 7-8 hours before it's telling me to recharge. No live scenes, wifi off anything I'm missing?

I started using Handcent's SMS to manage my phone's messages and I really like it. But now I want to disable the standard messaging app that was included with my Evo because I get two notifications, I'd like to just get handcent's SMS. So how do I disable HTC's messaging app so that I can use Handcent's SMS only?

I have a problem getting the mail application for Exchange to work. I read through several threads and got to install Touchdown. Strange thing is that this app works fine and the mails from the Exchange server are sent perfectly to the HTC Desire. What is even more strange is that a colleague of mine has exactly the same Desire and is on the same Exchange server as I am and for him, the Mail application for Exchange works perfectly. I really want to use the standard mail application. I saw there is an option in Touchdown 'Fetch and trust certificate' which is not available in Mail for Exchange. I already tried to logon to the webmail via a browser but this did not seem to help.

Anyway - I was just wondering if there was any way to disable the large letters that appear on top of the key as you type the corresponding letter? It's often slow and sometimes pops up while I'm already typing my reply. I've gone into the messaging settings and turned off everything that I figured could be related to that. I even turned off Auto-retrieve, but I still get those gray popups. I would really like to have them turned off.

Simply disable the text messaging app and it will no longer appear on your unlock screen. Settings, apps, all, text messaging then select disable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using myPlayer to download videos to watch during my commute. Even though the myPlayer app recommends arcMedia to play the downloaded videos, I've found that the default Videos app works just fine, and is a bit better thanks to the Dolby Mobile sound.
However... after downloading the video to the phone, the video takes an age to show up in the Videos app's list. I can usually prod the app into re-scanning the SD card for videos my unmounting and remounting the card, but that's a bit of a pain. Does anyone know of a way of just getting the Videos app to have another look for new files?
(I know, it's not a major hassle to remount the SD card, but I'm an ex-iPhone guy and used to the 'it just works' way of doing things...
I thought this would be easy to find:
A text editor that can create/edit text files from the SD card.
i.e. Windows Notepad on the Desire?
