Would someone please advise me how to totally disable all predictive text functionality in Xperia X8 ? I've had this problem with every single mobile phone I've ever had and cannot possibly imagine why anyone would want something so mindlessly stupid.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI enabled APN in the settings. But, I want to be able to enable/disable my APN so I can be sure that I'm not getting charged for using the Internet when I'm not. On the top of my screen I see an E with 2 arrows, one pointing up and one pointing down, when I turn my WiFi on this disappears and is replaced by a WiFi icon, and I don't get charged for browsing. But I want to be able to turn APN on and off, I can't uncheck the option for APN which I chose, and the application I downloaded does not work. The icon remains there when I'm not connected to a router even if APN is disabled.

So is it possible to disable the front LEDs on the phone? Do they serve any purpose anyway?

*Is there a way to disable the GPRS connection as it seems to be continuously connected or is this normal with Android?

When the call is disconnected by the other side, there is a noisy hang-up tone. I would like to ask if I could disable the tone (it really hurts my ear).

View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I plug my X10 into my PC or laptop, SE Phone Tools pops up with a windows explaining to me how to mount my SD card. If I close this window, it reappears about a minute later and will continue to do so until I quit PC Companion, mount my SD card, or unplug my phone. Is there any way to disable this window while keeping PC Companion running? I run PdaNet tethering software and will also sometimes charge my phone through my PC. Neither of these situations require me to mount my SD card nor do I wish to always do so. Either way, there should be an option within PC Companion to permanently disable this useless window (after a week of using the software, I was more than aware how to mount my SD card).

The green LED which flashes to notify of the event is actually quite bright in a dark room and ended up waking me up (in fact, I was quite confused at first as to what on earth it could be lol!). e.g. let's say i had sent out a text stating; "Hi John, I will be at yours next week - you can email me at berty@bassett.com if you need me to bring anything"
so a few days later I'd start a new text. By the time I'd wrote "Hi" the system would offer me the next word as "John" - it had kind of learned what it thought I might want to say next. This was incredibly useful when entering email addresses into form pages.
Now, when I type "Hi", it offers stupid suggestions like "Hit, High, Hill" and other completely unrelated junk.
If I enable predictive texts, it auto fixes words that don't need auto fixing. I sent a text to my sister saying "lolzalot" and by the time I realised what had gone on, it had instead replaced my word with "locally"
Why is this new way of doing things so poor compared to the old 1.6 way? Or at least, how can I get it back to being like it should be.
For some time ago I updated my X10 to Android 2.1 and today (a week later) I noticeed all the sudden that Mediascape has linked alot of my pictures stored in my phone to some of my Facebook contacts automatically. Of course Mediascape got it all wrong, linking my children to old friends I haven't met in several years etc. This raises a couple of questions:
1. First - how do I disable Face recognition service entirely. I find this very unuseful since I have found it not that good at identifying persons even when trying to learn.
2. How come that Mediascape did this automatic link between my Facebook contact and my pictures?
3. Is there a way to clear this linking data that Mediascap does. It's pretty time consuming to have to go through all Facebook friends and select the image and Delete the link between the photo and the friend.
I guess Mediascape must have downloaded images from my frieds facebook galleries and analyzed them somehow. However this isn't something I want my phone to spend time doing. The battery time of my X10 is poor already, it doesn't need to do image processing - at least I should have the option to turn this off?
Overall I find Mediascape pertty crappy. Mostly because it's performance. I guess the ideas behind it is good, but the implementation isn't near good enough.
For example, slow browsing between images. Compare with iPhone, Samsung galaxy, HTC phones, older SonyEricsson phones such as W715 or C905. All these perform much better. Is there a way to remove this or use another media viewer?
Text messages, contact details, even the calendar are displayed with a very small font on the X10. Such a waste of a beautiful large screen. Is there any way of making the default font larger?

That text is showing all the time on my notification bar as a new message, but i can't find it in my messaging app to delete it. How can i get rid of that msg? View 29 Replies View RelatedI just bought an xperia white, mostly because i heard it was a decent starter smart phone and because it was the best one my provider offered. i was fooling around with it on lunch and added a signature to my texts and now WHENEVER i text for EVERY single text, my name comes up beside it. i've only found one thread about it on the forums, and there was no solution. I like the versatility and styling of the OS texting, and tbh absolute hate the handcent styling. Not to mention i don't really want to have two competing messaging apps on my phone at once..
View 5 Replies View RelatedSetup up the MMS APN correctly in mobile networks, if there is nothing in there, select sony erricson in the top menu in side settings, and download network settings.
Go into the MMS APN and setup as per the attached document.
Basically when a text is more than 1 is goes via MMS hence it's failing because the settings for this for vodafone on the X10 are incomplete...figures!!
Once your done power the phone down, take out the sim card power the phone back on.
Once in turn it off put the Sim card back in power up and your done you can now send
