View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes any of you know it is possible to disable the conversation style for text messages in the legend. I really prefer a separate in box and s separate box for my send messages. Most of the messages I send and receive are not conversations, so for me it isn't a good option for me. I already tried it with hand cent, but this also didn't have that option.

Or maybe an app to do so?
How do I stop the text messages from popping up on the screen and scrolling across the top of the screen when they come in?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt seems no matter what I put my settings to, the home screen always has to change orientation when I rotate my phone sideways. This is quite an annoyance. I just want the home screen to be in portrait at all times (unless I open my keyboard). I'm currently on Smoked Glas 5.0.1.
View 9 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately it is an Orange branded phone and has all of their additional guff installed on the phone. I would like to run the desire without the sense UI and instead just run the plain android UI for a while, my problem is that when I disable Sense I am just left with the Orange home screen selector! Does anyone know how I turn that off and run the basic android? or am I stuck with these skins?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a simple setting that will automatically disable my screen lock when I'm at home or at work? If not a setting, is there an app you recommend?
Long version: I'm fairly new to "devices". I got my first, a wifi-only Samsung tablet about 6 months ago and use it sporadically, mostly when traveling, but also it's become my semi-permanent music player at home. I got my first smart phone, a MotoX about 2 weeks ago. Love the MotoX and feel it's exceptionally well designed, easy to configure, and useful, but I have nothing to compare it to other than my wife's IPhone 5.
I have done a web search for this information. I have also searched and scanned around these forums, but didn't find anything I felt comfortable with in terms of how fussy or current the set up steps are or how current the app recommendations are. The two apps I've come across are, IIRC, called "Delayed Lock (trial or paid)" and "Unlock with WiFi".
My question is - today, mid-October 2013 - how do you recommend disabling screen lock while at certain locations. I imagine I'll be using it strictly at work or at home, both of which have wifi I connect to automatically. I might want to disable screen lock while driving, but so far have found my MotoX's Assist driving mode to work very well. I might get a Bluetooth device and at that point would probably want to disable the screen lock while that bluetooth device was connected.
the "messages" icon on the home screen is a sort of envelope speech bubble looking yoke when there are new sms text messages you get a small green circle over this icon with the number of unread messages in it. how do you clear this?
I hit the icon and get a screen of my text messages none are highlighted in bold to say what's unread AND even after opening them all and going back to the home screen the damn green circle is still there. after a while it goes again?any ideas?
Is there a way to prevent a text message preview (name and beginning of message) from being displayed on the lock screen?
View 4 Replies View Relatedthere's any way to disable text message previews on my lock screen? Surely this represents a massive security flaw- having the text for anyone to read without needing to unlock- so I would have thought there was some way to remove this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSimply disable the text messaging app and it will no longer appear on your unlock screen. Settings, apps, all, text messaging then select disable.

View 8 Replies View RelatedOn my Windows Mobile phone, I had this great app that let me plug my phone in to my computer then control the screen of the phone, launch apps, type text messages, etc. right from the computer screen. This made it so easy to reply to text messages without my boss knowing, or while being lazy in bed.Any type of app like this for Android? I downloaded the SDK but I can only take screenshots with it, I can't control the phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I lock my phone you can still read the last message on the lock screen. Is there away to prevent the latest message from being displayed while my phone is locked?
View 5 Replies View RelatedPeople are still sending me texts even though I can't read them. I can still hear notification sounds. I've gotta get a replacement quick, but I also need to get the important texts I missed. Is there any way I can get them through my mac?
To be clear, the screen is completely blank but I can still unlock it via touch pattern. It takes a few tries but Android File Transfer on the mac will tell me if it can or can't connect. If it can't, I just try again and I can get it. So the touch part still works, it just doesn't show any information.
The phone is a Galaxy Nexus. When I connect it to my Mac, I can see the files in it via the Android File Transfer window. However, I can't find the texts here.
I have the Android SDK installed and I was told I can do this: adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db..However the device shows up as offline when I do adb devices. I can't figure out a way get it showing up as online without being able to use the screen.
I have a broken Galaxy 3 phone where the screen suddenly stopped functioning with a total blackout so I can't use the phone at all. There is no problem getting the phone fixed within a couple of days but the problem is I want to save all my messages, contacts and other data, especially one conversation text message thread that has gone on for about a year, to my pc. I want the information to be able to be viewed independently on my computer like I read emails etc. and then I can store it on a portable hard drive by copy and paste.
Samsung kies doesn't seem to allow for this. I can back up the phone apparently but the info can only be read by another similar phone so it is restricting how you see your own information. I want the information on my computer without the need of another similar phone because what if I decide to buy a totally different phone that has software that's not compatible.
The shop representing Samsung who will fix the phone said that everything gets wiped and they won't even have Kies on their computers because they think its unstable software. Ideally it would be great if there was some kind of software for my computer that enabled it to read all the info on the phone as if the phone was a flash drive connected by USB and then I could simply copy and paste across from phone to computer. The phone is recognised by the computer through the USB but obviously it can't read inside the folders on the phone which just show as empty. How to get the results I want?
Is there anyway to remove the contact and shortened text message from the bottom of the home screen each time a new text message arrives. I'd like to keep the notification icon, just would like to eliminate the abbreviated message and contact.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to stop my text messages appearing in my status bar and on my unlock screen? All I want is an icon and a sound!
View 11 Replies View RelatedI do have a few questions about the phone. i was wondering if there is a way to make text messages alerts show up on my screen. i have an app that shows if i have one unread but it is pretty small. every other phone i've had had a pretty big notification for texts. also is there a way to have the screen light up when you get a text? there is a sound that plays when i get a text, but the screen does not light up. not sure if im just missing something, but is there a way to set different tones for different notification? right now the same thing plays when i plug my phone in, that plays when i get a text. none of these are huge issues, but i am just curious if there is a way to make some changes on the phone. im sure ill figure it out or just get used to it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen using a home replacment like Helix, Home++, etc. does the android home still run in the background and reduce performance? I had a lot of stuff on my stock home but just switched to Helix so how do i stop/disable stock home if it is running?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust looking for a simple way to remove the text below any icons on my home screen. For example, since I already know what the phone app icon looks like, there's no reason I need to see the text. This is purely for aesthetics.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhenever I back out of a screen mainly txt msg, I get something highlighted in orange, and when I back out into the home screen it does the same thing. Usually it highlights either the phone shortcut or the wifi icon in my power bar.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want the incoming message to show up on the home page when it is first received, like the iphone does, it covers a good portion of the screen, for a few seconds even when the phone is asleep, then it goes away until you wake it up. I tried Handcent and I'm now using ChompSMS. With Chomp you get this tiny little ticker at the top of the screen, that is all. Is it possible to have that feature with this phone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have created a widget to be displayed on android emulator's home screen to display some long text. In my main.xml layout file i've already set TextView properties like singleLine="true", ellipsize="marquee", focusable="true" etc, but still when my widget is displayed on home screen text does not move/scroll.code...

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I woke up this morning all of my texts were gone. I do not have anything set to delete them. Why would the phone delete all of my messages?
View 30 Replies View RelatedI did attempt to use the search feature here but didnt come up with the results I was looking for (or maybe I used it wrong?) I ask the following questions because unfortunately, I dont have good eyesight.
1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?
If I need to paste text from another app in my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy SII, O2, Jelly Bean), like from Google Keep or Docs, into a text message it tends to convert from an SMS to MMS. This leads to a charge for me as my SMS messages are included in my tariff but I have no allowance for MMS messages. I presume that this might be something to do with character encoding or other formatting data that is pasted in, but that is only a guess.
Is there any way to stop short messages from being converted to MMS messages like this:? I couldn't find any 'paste clipboard as plain text' option in Android Jelly Bean.
i want to lock screen,i want to disable the home key only use the back key,how to do?
