When my phone is in its holder in my car, and i am on a call, my phone will lock, meaning to end the call i have to unlock the screen (using power button) to unlock before i can end call.Is there a better solution? justs gets a chore to hang the phone up.

I bought a Desire two days ago, and realized yesterday that, when i call someone, the phone goes directly in lock mode and can not be unlocked anymore The only way to unlock it without pulling the battery, is by hanging up with the handsfree kit. OR if the person i call hangs up. Which never happens when you call a voice mail for example.
View 5 Replies View RelatedNot sure where to post this but i am gonna do it here and hopefully it is helpfull to someone.Just watched this video over on the dailymobile.se website and some guy goes through how he has customised his nexus with different apps and there is one for diabling the lock screen and using the power button to wake it up without having to swipe to unlock.He uses an app called "No Lock" and i am now using it and it saves me valuable finger swipeing time.How to customize your Android phone with different apps (video)Also there are a load of other customisation he has done but he goes through that aswell and names all his apps etc.

What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?

However, when I finish the phone call or take the phone away from my ear... I get the lock screen. Why? Why doesn't the screen just go back on to whatever screen was on before the phone call... like the dial pad. To hang up a phone call, I have to unlock the screen first.

But after a minute or so it locks. You have to push power button before you can enter numbers- annoying. Is there a "keep alive" option I'm not seeing?
On a similar note, is there a way to make the phone lock automatically (like an app)? It's also annoying to have to manually lock it: I'd rather keep waking it up (if it was indeed idle and not running a program) than forget to lock it and dial/message everyone in my contact list from my pocket.
New to android and this forum and wondered if you could help!
I've recently got a HTC Desire on Orange (which I love) and it has the Stocks app pre-loaded.
I know I cant remove this app but I can't seem to stop it updating itself every hour even though I will never use it.
I've been to: Accounts & Sync > Stocks > Account Settings ... and the 'Update Schedule' says 'Every Hour' underneath. However this option is greyed out so I cant reduce this or even stop it syncing at all.
I've also been to the 'Manage Application' settings and all I can do there is select 'Force Close'.
I think its annoying enough having an app put on my phone that I cant delete but to have it updating every hour and wasting my precious battery is even more frustrating.
I just wondered if anyone knew a way round this(or if I am missing something)?
Also, is this problem just an Orange thing as I know they meddle with the Desire more then most or do all Desire users have this problem?
I am wondering, is there no way to lock your desire when you want? for example before i put the phone in my pocket? i have set the phone so it locks automatically after 30 seconds to conserve battery, but i would like the option of doing myself if i need to without waiting for the auto function.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI thought I'd share my experience of this in case anybody else found themselves in a similar situation whilst doing Over The Air ROM updates.So I got home from the pub last night and decided it was the right time to update my phone to Android 2.2 (hey, I'd had five pints, anything and everything sounded like a "good idea"!).For background you should know that I spent last weekend making a gold card and flashing my Orange branded Desire to the v1.15xxx generic ROM to get rid of all the Orange crap.I did not root or unlock.I checked for updates, and instead of being offered 2.2 Froyo, I was offered 1.21xxx. Curses! I know from reading on here that v1.21 breaks the wifi. However, reading through the official Froyo thread in this forum I found a post by somebody in a similar situation suggesting that by upgrading to 1.21 and then checking for updates he was able to install 2.2.That was good enough for me (yes, five pints) so, with my gold card inserted, I accepted the update to 1.21 and left it to do its thing. Eventually it finished, but when it booted for the last time it said the SIM was network locked and I had to contact my operator.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe phone is the htc desire, it's unlocked but not unbranded from t-mobile and currently with o2. I got the OTA for 2.2 and didn't update it because the last time i updated it caused my wifi to fork up meaning my first two weeks of owning a desire meant waiting for it to come back from HTC repair.
Adding salt to the wound, it came back locked meaning I had to fork out another tenner to unlock again. So question! does anyone have experience of updating to 2.2 on an unlocked but branded phone (on Tmobile). Will it lock the phone again?
Is there anyway from disabling the lock function so I don't have to keep pressing the power button to unllock it? I see a setting for the screen timeout but that's it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter having an IPhone 4s for two years i decided to switch to a galaxy s4 to see what it was like. My first touch screen device was a cheap rubbish MID rocketchip tablet running android 1.7. Every since then and seeing my friend using his HTC wildfire and how laggy it is in things like scrolling i always though iphone was better until i got the S4, realising that with the latest android scrolling was smooth (although can still be laggy at times but rarely) and with all its customization etc i don't like iphones as much as i did but don't completely dislike them just don't think i'd go back to one. That said i do miss some of the apps that i can't get on android.
Anyway whilst i love the galaxy s4 i found what you could say in a design flaw but it's also a good design at the same time. Samsung as positioned the lock/power button on the right side of the phone. Which ok is more natural when holding the phone and other phones are the same too but i've noticed a problem although it could just be me. Whenever i play a game or use any app in landscape mode i've found myself accidently pressing the lock button so i have to make sure that i haven't placed my finger on top of it as where it's placed is natural for my fingers to hold the phone in landscape mode. As i say might just be me that can't hold it properly. Anyway i was wondering if there is a way i could disable the power button in landscape mode so that if i press it, it won't do anything. I was thinking of using tasker but doesn't seem to be away to disable buttons.
