Android :: Good Lock Screen / Incoming Call Screen Replacement?
Jul 29, 2010I have an HTC Evo that hangs up on everyone that calls me.I keep the phone in my pocket and, in trying to pull it out to answer a call, my leg slides the bar.I could keep the phone in my pocket upside down and then I would answer every call but that isn't much of an alternative.I am looking for something that overrides the Sense's lockscreen/answer screen.I tried both GoTo and WidgetLocker.Both are great programs but neither addresses the incoming call issue.

Jan 18, 2010I am going crazy here... I've had this thing since it launched and everything is great except I keep hitting buttons with my face during calls! I mute, sometimes end calls, start 3 way calls etc and I have no idea how to prevent it. Is there any way I can make the screen lock during phone calls or change the call screen altogether?

Dec 2, 2010With the old 1.6 software on my X10, the lack of an automatic screen lock when in an active call was mildly annoying, as not all areas of the screen were active. However, with the new 2.1, just about anywhere on the screen becomes active (especially when juggling two simultaneous calls). What are the chances that we'll see a 'lock screen' function for phone calls? Those of us who actually use the phone for phone calls whilst holding it would surely appreciate it. Other android devices have had this for years.

Oct 28, 2010Is there a way to have a phone lock on the Desire, in the way it is used on "normal" phones? What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?

Sep 14, 2010Is it possible to change the answer call lockscreen from the original slide down bar? I am using the vanilla lockscreen but I still get the HTC lockscreen when answering calls and this causes these calls to be answered/rejected when I take my phone out of my pocket.

Jul 23, 2010Most people seem to want to be able to lock their screen while on a call (using bluetooth headsets mostly), and I'd prefer it didn't go to lock while on a call. I just find it annoying when I've been talking for a few seconds or minutes, then take the phone away from my head, having to wake up the screen by swiping my thumb across the light sensor, set the unlock pattern, hit the home button to leave the dialer app, find the app I need to look something up in while talking, etc. And sometimes it doesn't go to lock at all! Does anyone know why/when the screen goes to lock during a call only? The rest of the time, it takes the full 10 minutes I have it set for before dimming out and shutting down. But usually, during a call, it seems like only a few seconds.

Android :: App To Launch Screen Lock While In Call?
Oct 26, 2010Anytime I get in a call and hold the phone to my ear with my should, I start hitting buttons like Mute, Add Call, End Call, etc. I've already been through 3 replacement devices, and all 3 have the issue.
I learned last night (after fighting with a tech at version for 2 hours) that the issue is really just a design flaw by Motorola. If you make an out going call, and then cover the light sensor with your hand (while the phone is vertical), all works great. If you keep the sensor covered and start laying the phone on it's back, eventually the screen will unlock. Doesn't happen every time, only about 80% of the time.
Needless to say, Verzion told me that because that's how Motorola designed it I'm stuck having to deal with it. So now I'm trying to find an app that can lock my screen while I'm in a call. I have bought Screen Suite but it really does way too much for me (plus, I hate the lock screen on it). I much prefer the default lock screen.
Does an app exist that can launch the stock lock screen while in a call? If not does anyone know if the SDK even provides the means to launch the lock screen? Because if so I may have to resort to writing my own app for it.

Jun 12, 2010I bought a Desire two days ago, and realized yesterday that, when i call someone, the phone goes directly in lock mode and can not be unlocked anymore The only way to unlock it without pulling the battery, is by hanging up with the handsfree kit. OR if the person i call hangs up. Which never happens when you call a voice mail for example.

May 19, 2012When I make a phone call the proximity sensor turns the screen off... great, no accidental screen pressing. However, when I finish the phone call or take the phone away from my ear... I get the lock screen. Why? Why doesn't the screen just go back on to whatever screen was on before the phone call... like the dial pad. To hang up a phone call, I have to unlock the screen first.

Sep 30, 2010There is no possible way to get rid of that dumb slide? Half the time I try it doesn't slide all the way and I have to try again. Sometimes it takes me 3 attempts. I wish u could just press the home key twice like I did on the htc dream. Even rooted xperias still have slide unlock?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Immature OS - Can't Lock Screen While In Call - Obvious Functionality Is Missing?
Oct 23, 2009Here are the issues I am having:
1. Can't lock screen while in a call. Red button just hangs up the call.
2. Apps cannot be installed to sd card. Internal Phone Storage after a device wipe shows about 136MB free. I downloaded about 5 or 6 apps and the phone ran out of room. I deleted the apps, but the space was not reclaimed. This is why I had to reset the device. Now I am afraid to install apps without filling it up again.
3. Bluetooth does no always connect back to my headset. sometime I have to turn on/off bluetooth on phone. Sometimes I have to reboot phone. One time I installed Pandora and bluetooth would not work until I figured out that removing Pandora would fix it.
4. Camera is no good.
5. WIFI cannot connect to an N router running in mixed mode (a,b,g,n). You must "dumb" down the router to b,g mode in order to connect the phone. This means hat other users who have no issues with N have to suffer the reduced speed of b,g.
6. No way to "EXIT" an app to reclaim RAM.
7. KB not as accurate as the iphone.
8. I have disabled HTC Sense and it is still slow. For example, often when I load favorites, nothing displays for about 3-4 seconds. This is not acceptable.
Overall, not a very tested or mature OS. I feel like I should not be starting from scratch like this. The folks at Android are guilty of using the consumer as a guinea pig. This is not acceptable. We are not reinventing the wheel, so why are obvious features missing?
HTC Desire HD : Need Lock Screen App
Nov 12, 2010I want to turn off the screen and lock the phone fairly often, and am getting fed up with groping for the power button on the top. I am also worried that, over time and regular use, it will stop working. I am looking for a simple application that will do it for me - at least turn it off, I suspect that turning on will be more of a challenge. Has anyone found a simple one that will do that for me - all the ones that ought to do it on the Market seem to be very complicated with lock screens and skins and so on

Sep 16, 2010I've tried googling and searching for applications, but ironically, all I've found is people with the opposite problem - who are lucky enough to be asked for a password, but don't want it? Just got my HTC Desire, it is really amazing, but I HATE the stupid lock screen 'pattern' - I am amazed there doesn't seem to be any actually secure option considering the amount of important data the phone may hold (access to email in 2 clicks from home screen + no password = epic fail), especially as when I had a quick go to see what would happen, the pattern seems to allow unlimited attempts - just have to wait 30 seconds between every 5 .Turning my phone off whenever it has to be unattended is just ridiculous, even though I doubt I'll ever let there be a need to, I still want to make sure things are secure.Is there any way to replace the pattern with a PIN or password? Preferably free but I won't mind paying for an application if it's the only way.

Sep 28, 2010Not sure where to post this but i am gonna do it here and hopefully it is helpfull to someone.Just watched this video over on the dailymobile.se website and some guy goes through how he has customised his nexus with different apps and there is one for diabling the lock screen and using the power button to wake it up without having to swipe to unlock.He uses an app called "No Lock" and i am now using it and it saves me valuable finger swipeing time.How to customize your Android phone with different apps (video)Also there are a load of other customisation he has done but he goes through that aswell and names all his apps etc.
