View 11 RepliesI was wandering if it possible to install the default android keyboard on the Desire? Don't get me wrong, I love the HTC keyboard but am just trying out a couple of different keyboards out of interest.
So i anyone knows a link the the apk that would be brilliant. Just to clarify, I mean the one with black keys. I tried searching but could only find a modified version of the HTC one.
When you click a key on the Samsung keyboard you don't see the key-popup like on the iPhone or on a HTC device. Is there any way to change this keyboard?

View 30 Replies View RelatedToday, my phone suddenly cannot install app from market. after download reach 100%. app just woont install.
tried download a few app to try, same result. restarting the phone for a few time. take out sim card, battery and memory card. off 3g and use wifi. clear market cache. still cannot install app.
I'm obviously new to the Android but not necessarily to HTC.
I've had my HTC Hero 1.5 for a little over a month and absolutely love it and all that it's capable of. I mean there is truly "an app for that" for whatever "that" may be.
However, I'm struggling a bit w/it's default keyboard. Not the landscape option either.
I guess my little fingers are a bit to wide for the touch screen leaving me to constantly mess up whatever it is I'm typing. And, having the auto-correction, word completion or word suggestion feature on doesn't help. These only frustrate me more.
I've seen PLENTY of keyboard apps to replace this but, I'm wanting to choose the best one and not sure which one this would be.
Can someone please recommend the best keyboard app to install that will be efficient, bug free and moderately priced?
I'm running Cyanogen 2.2 and am trying to install the HTC Ime Keyboard - I'm able to change the "input method" to it but then when i click anywhere to type the keyboard won't open.

Alot of people seem to have continuous problems installing the HTC keyboard, so last week rosered asked me to write a fool-proof step-by-step guide for those users. So after getting back from my short vacation I decided to write a step-by-step guide which also includes screenshots to make it easier for you First of all I will explain how to install the original HTC keybaord, then I will tell you where to customize your own HTC keyboard for those of you that prefer it customized How to install the HTC keybaord on your Xperia X10Before you start, make sure your phone is set to allow apps from unknown sources. To enable this, go to Settings > Applications and make sure Unknown Sources is checked 1. Download the HTC Keyboard here2. Open the zip archive and copy the files to your desktopAT&T users will not be able to install this keyboard using steps 3-8 as they cannot side load apps. If you are an AT&T user, scroll down to see the instructions at the bottom of this guide explaining how to install the HTC keyboard. When you have done that, go to step 9 3. Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable, drag down the notification bar on your Xperia and tap "USB COnnected" then tap "Mount". Alternatively, some people prefer to slide the SD card into a Memory Card slot on your computer4. Copy the HTC Keyboard files from your desktop, into a directory on your phone that you will remember (in my example I will use the 'downloads' directory5. Disconnect your phone from the usb cable (or put the SD card back into your phone if you used a memory card.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI was reading about the ability to add what some consider to be a "better" keyboard for their Android phone (HTC's default keyboard ?) and how to install it. From what I can tell, this keyboard is what us with Eris phones already have.... See here: Get a Better Android Keyboard, No Rooting Required - Android - Lifehacker
That said, what does the default/standard Android keyboard look like and is it available somewhere/somehow to install ?
I tried the (Google ?) keyboard available from the market (AnySoftKeyboard) but didn't like it.

I remember seeing somewhere in the x10 section a post regarding instructions to install a better keyboard on our x10's. I am enjoying swype, but would also like to have a "regular" keyboard that works better than the preinstalled ones. Can anyone direct me to the thread, or a site with instructions? Does the phone need to be rooted?

Anyhow, played with one at the Verizon Store last night. Wish they had one without the damn teather cord on it LOL. I noted on the landscape-keyboard, the spacebar is all the way on the right. Is it possible to install a new soft-keyboard thats more traditional?
Still struggling,

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to the whole rotting thing, I installed the bugless beast on my droid 2 days ago and everything went great and it worked fine, I'm just having an issue with it being really lagy at times and the biggest problem is that it freezes everytime I open or close the keyoard, I have to forse close and wait for it to load everything up again, a message is desplayed and it says:
The application launcher+(process android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Then I hit forse close, it usually only happens when I open or close the keyboard but sometime it will happen at random. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it.
Does anyone know if it is possible to install the stock android keyboard on a HTC Desire running froyo?
I have searched this forum (and others) and have not found anything that has worked so far....
Basically, I think the HTC keyboard is a bit too cluttered, and would prefer to use the default android keyboard (introduced in 2.1 I think, includes a voice entry button to the left of spacebar).
Hey does anyone know if the Galaxy S keyboard is available for us Dinc users yet?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a layout with a TextView and a List, and in onCreate() I have the TextView request focus. On the G1 and emulator the screen comes up with the TextView having focus, and the on-screen keyboard will display when you tap on the TextView, but on the Galaxy apparently the on-screen keyboard is always displayed. Does anyone know why this would be so? And why would a phone without a keyboard act differently from a phone with a keyboard that's hidden--shouldn't they follow the same logic?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to add secondary functions onto the keyboard? I hate having to keep changing to the numbers screen just to put in 1 number. It has it on the swype keyboard but to get the spelling correction it has a huge box that comes up over the text entry screen . I want to be able to hold down a key to get a number for the occasional number.
