HTC Desire :: Update Apps / "starting Download"?
May 30, 2010I seem cant update my apps cos it just said "starting download" all time but it never finish what it suppose to do and does anyone know how to fix this probelm?

HTC Desire :: Apps Running Since 2.2 Update / Automatically Starting
Aug 31, 2010Got a problem since 2.2 thats bugging me and draining battery life, in 2.1 I'd used Advanced Task Killer to kill all Apps I did'nt want which was fine, more often than not it was just Apps i'd manually started that popped up for killing. Now I find in 2.2 that theres Apps that start running without me even opening them and sometimes its 7-8 Apps at once which cant be good for battery life (and I've noticed a drop in that). Anyone else finding this? Anyway to stop apps Automatically starting once I connect to the Internet for example? as alot of them pop up after I do that, but other times the phones on idle and I select ATK and theres some appeared on it, last thing I want to do is check ATK every 10mines just to save battery.

Jul 12, 2010I got my new Galaxy S one month back. I have no problems with any other functionality but Android Market. I can browse apps, but when I click install each get stuck at "Starting download..." screen, and never starts or fails. I had kept it for 3 days and still the same. Market / Google Apps / Download Manager clear cache / data does not help even. Phone restart also does not help.So far the solution is do a factory reset and lose all current apps, then install 5 to 6 apps again. Then the same story begins. No more apps can be downloaded. Stuck @ "Starting download..."."Samsung Apps" application works fine.

Oct 8, 2010I have had one of those "Starting download" errors in the market for almost 3 months now (!) and I'm starting to get tired of it.
I'm using a Desire with android 2.2. My problem is this: I can download from satellite network, but not via Wifi at home. However, it seems to be a 1% chance (or close to that) of successful download using the Wifi.
I have logged in and out of Talk several times, did a couple of factory resets, formatted the SD card, cleared cache from HTC checkin service, market, google talk and downloader (if thats what its called in english). I tried to set the network as only WCDMA, only GSM and both auto, still no results. Everything else seems to work using the Wifi at home, except market. I called HTC for some help, and the only thing I got to know was that it wasn't my mobile operator, or other settings on my phone that caused this problem, and they also thougt it might be the network at home, which I too thought before talking to them. So I did a little research about that, and tried to open port 5228, even though that seemed weird, as it sometimes worked downloading. I also read about the change from googlemail.com to gmail.com, but I never had a "googlemail.com" address, so I hope this isnt the problem. Now HTC wants me to tell them if I can fix this, and how I did, so they probably have no clue either:S
I have also tried other things, which I don't remember right now, but if anyone can list up something to try, I'll see if I have done it or not.
HTC Desire :: Re-starting In Night Since FroYo Update
Aug 3, 2010Tried a search but couldn't find anything similar to what's been happening to my phone since I updated to FroYo on Sunday.Update went through fine on Sunday afternoon. On Monday morning at about 5am I heard my phone go off, picked it up in a sleepy haze and noticed the white "Quietly Brilliant" HTC screen, as if it has rebooted itself. Keyed in my security code and thought nothing of it, went back to sleep. Phone good as gold all day - no further issues on Monday.This morning, at around 4am, it did the same - re-started in the night, woke me up with a chime and the bright white screen. Keyed in the code, went back to sleep. Did the same at about 5am. The battery is currently about half full, so I don't think it's an issue there.I bought the phone about 2 weeks ago and didn't have any issues til I updated. The only setting I changed witin the phone was to have a security code set up for when it comes off standby. I've installed a couple of games since then too.Can anyone help? I'm going to turn my security code off and see what happens tonight, but has anyone else had this problem since the update?
I did notice a small icon in the top bar, sort of looked like an eye, but to be honest I was too sleepy to press it to find out what it was and it's now gone. No apps running on the phone, just WiFi, Bluetooth etc. Auto-update is set to on, which makes me think it's updating something? But why the re-boot?I don't mind it re-starting if it's meant to, it's just the fact it wakes me up at silly o'clock.
HTC Desire :: Apps Starting Automatically
Jul 21, 2010I have just got a HTC desire recently and am astonished at how short the battery life is. I downloaded the app killer and put the widget on my desktop. When I press it it shows me what apps are running. I clear them all but within minutes of me not touching ny phone they all are running again 8 in total I believe. Amongst the apps are Flickr, peep, footprints....

Nov 18, 2010I have been receiving messages for a couple of weeks about an update but each time I tried to update it, it said it was corrupted and unsuccessful. I tried again yesterday and same thing twice but now I occasionly & randomly get a msg when checking for updates manually that there aren't any available. Later on, back comes the original message that an update is available. What's happening? If I'm having trouble getting the update is the update even worth having. Any clues anyone?

Jul 16, 2010I'm a newbie to the Android world and HTC Desire's. I got mine on Monday and am very happy with it apart from that when I am at work and using the WiFi here, I cant download any apps. They just sit there and says starting download. I then turn off the WiFi and put on Data Connection and they still dont download. But when I go home and am connected to my WiFi, it all seems to work.

Jun 25, 2010I went to purchase the acircuit live wallpaper app. The transaction failed to go through because my bank blocked it, as it was less than 1. It is now sitting in my list of downloaded apps in the Market app (not the installed list) and it says purchased. There is an install option, which if pressed tries to download it again, but fails because it has been blocked. I don't want the app now and just wish to clear this from my download list. I have installed an unistaller app, but this just shows a list of the installed apps. Can anyone help me with a solution to get rid of this from my app downloads list in the Market app.

Jun 16, 2010I can browse the internet fine, i can use any app that uses the internet like facebook, youtube, etc. I can even browse the android market fine. Its just stuck at "starting download". I really dont want to reset my phone.
I've tryed:
- restarting
- Turning off and on data connections ( both 3g and wifi )
- Clearing any google cache
- google talk
- deleting apps ( if its a space issue )
- canceling and restarting downloads
- have it attempt to download for 24+ hours
None of these worked. it seems reseting the phone is the last option. I have the Sony Xperia X10. Has anyone with that phone resolved the issue? Is it even the phone that's causing the issue? maybe the market itself is buggy.

Android :: Market Starting Download - Freeze
Nov 21, 2010I know this problem has been covered ad nauseum here on the forums, but I'm having a trio of problems on my Droid1, and I'm betting that they're related:
- Market freezes download
- Low on space notification (almost 19MB free)
- Google Talk won't load on my phone
I'm running the SimplyStunning 4.8 ROM. I reflashed the ROM last week and it seemed to resolve the problem for a while, but now it's come back.
Samsung Fascinate :: Only Says Starting Download In Market
Nov 10, 2010I'm rooted and just flashed Super Clean rom from Rom Manager. When I go to update current apps or download new ones, it says "Starting download..." and never stops! After looking this problem up and reading other people's posts who have had similar problems, I've tried clearing all cache and data related to any Google-based app. I've done multiple nandroid backups over the past few weeks and have tried restoring back to them. I've tried factory data reset both from Settings-->Privacy and also from recovery mode in CWM. I'm out of ideas.

Jul 31, 2010I am new to the forum. I have searched for a similar topic so apologies if this has already been tackled elsewhere. I have just purchased an unlocked HTC Desire which I should take delivery of next week. I didn't want to get tied to an 18 or 24 month contract so opted for the unlocked phone. I am interested in the �10.00 a month rolling sim card only contract with T-Mobile with Internet booster as I want the phone primarily for Internet use as I hardly make calls/texts. However, the guy said 1 gb a month wasn't enough for Android phones and that things running in the background and downloading apps is too much of a drain and uses up your quota very quickly.
Is this correct? If so, is it possible to download apps to pcs and then to the phone to save the monthly usage? I have seen posts about wifi - is is possible to download apps using Wifi to save on monthly usage?
