When clicking and holding the home button the very useful modal dialogue appears showing the list of recently used programs/applications. Unfortunately, most of the time it appears and then disappears again. It is very annoying and makes this feature useless.
I am using LauncherPro on my Android 2.1 (CyanogenMod 5.0.8 DS), but with ADW launcher it showed the same behaviour.

I have had my HTC Desire for about 2 months now and I have just accidentally learned that if you hold down the home button for about a second or 2, it brings up a neat little 'last used apps' screen. I am using LP so i don't know if it is part of Android or the launcher but I found this pretty neat.

- home button is not working
- call button is not working unless you're into the contacts application (doesn't work from home page)
- Astrid application has lost all of the TODO tasks.
- It doesn't asks for the unlock graphical code!
It lost all of its battery yesterday night while surfing on the browser. My phone is an HTC MAgic Vodafone, using Android 1.6 Any ideas on how should i proceed? I soft reset the phone already.
For all of us using SenseUI, hitting the home screen button will bring us... home, for lack of a better word.
However, recently, hitting the home screen button brings up a dialog asking whether I want to use SenseUI or the stock Android launcher. I'm aware this normally happens if you go into applications and clear the defaults for SenseUI.
However, I haven't done this. Moreover, even when I tell it to "save" the default for SenseUI when the dialog comes up, it seems to "forget" it after some time and asks for it again.
My SGS2 with CM7 (currently 7.2) forgets which app I chose as home app. If I press the home button, the dialog to choose the home app pops up. If I select one, check default, it forgets this setting again, asks again, first it could last some hours, after a while this shortens to minutes. This bug occurs a about 4-5 weeks after a hard after reset, now the 3rd or 4th time. My guess is that some data storage file contains corrupt data.
I don't want to do another hard reset only for this one bug. So any way to delete data of an certain system app, a specific file or something else to reset the home app setting to a clear, hard reset like state?
Ok one of the weirdest things happened just now. I switched back to UD 8 last night just cause. I had on BB 0.5 b4 if that matters. I didn't wipe data or cache either (Don't know if that matters or not). So for some reason both launcher pro and android system force closed. So I went to UD settings and put fix permissions. I then switched to ADW Launcher to see if that helped.
That helped for a little while but while i was in a call a few minutes later I press the home button and it doesn't even work!!! I pressed back until I hopefully went back to the homescreen. It first of all never went back to the homescreen and second of all just stayed in the browser and another note is that while I tried to go home it didn't work but when I held the home button it showed my recent apps.
So I did a battery pull and all it did was stay in the boot animation for almost ten minutes. Now I just have the battery out to let the droid cool down. The CPU was getting pretty hot. Was this just an overheat or did my droid just flip out on me. Would like to know if something similar to this has happened to anyone else for future reference. I know I'm definitely not bricked but what would be the right steps to get back to my normal droid.
edit: all of this happened after I put the sense theme, keyboard, and revolution theme onto my sdcard. While the files were on my laptop they gave my laptop the blue screen of death. I found these files in another thread on this site. Could they be killer files set out to kill any device that they are on. Perhaps. But idk what to do still.
I have a rooted Asus Transformer TF700 and got init.d working. I have it start eBay, Skype and Voice (I found the widget doesn't load until the app is started) with the sleep command in between each to ease the processor.
I would like to add a line at the end to return to the home screen. How I can implement the home button though adb shell?
Phone tells me there is an update and I updated it.But nothing appears different. Anyone know what the update was?

I've been looking for something like this for a good while, and was pleasantly surprised to see HTC had included this very function in their latest version of Sense.... when I went to the HTC London meet last week. unfortunately, the HTC guys demoing informed me there is currently no way to obtain this feature for current handsets.

I have the unlock code and a Vodafone SIM card with internet activated. I put the sim card in phone, tun it on but it doesn't ask me for unlock code ! (maybe it's allready unlocked because on the screen appears Vodafone).
When I want to activate the APN settings should appears in the lower part of the screen but it is not. I tried other method of activation - from G1: to press menu buttton after second google user and pass input entered - for apn field appears. No succes this time too.
Any idee how to activate ?
Could someone let me know what I am doing wrong? I have an A855 Model Droid, and I am thinking about Rooting it now that Froyo is on a Motorola and Verizon Black List, (See Article at My Droid Does)! I hold down the Up Volume and Power Buttons Simultaneously, but it still boots normally! What am I doing Wrong? Keep in mind that I am a Newbie at this!

2. holding down the menu button still doesnt do anything
3. when you're charging your phone it doesnt show the percentage
4. cant uninstall where's waldo and midnight bowling.
5. sometimes you have to push the actual unlock button for the screen to turn on instead of any of the buttons (i do this to check the time)
never had the SD card or vibrating problems so i dunno if they got completely fixed.
Is there any way to make it so when i press and hold the power button and choose either silent or vibrant only that it will also mute media? I am hoping for the ability to change something through adb shell or something because I use the power button method all the time I just really want it to mute/unmute the media volume too.

I have noticed that although holding down the menu button will go to google search from the main screen, it no longer works in certain apps that used to work before the upgrade. In fact it doesnt seem to work in any apps.
It disappeared. Is there a setting I can turn this back on with. The three buttons at the bottom of my home screen are gone.

I realize other people might not want this but I want whatever app I was using to completely close when I tap the home button. There is one app that puts an X on your homescreen that closes everything when clicked. That is a little better but I want to go one step further and have the home button do the same thing. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have the motorola droid. I got the handcent app because I really like all the customization options within it. However, lately I have been having this annoying problem. Sometimes when I have just sent a message, when I press the home button to return to the homescreen, it goes home but all my apps have vanished. I can go through my menu and replace them all to where they were, or I can reboot the phone and that usually corrects it. It is still annoying and is really putting me off the app. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you know if there is a specific cause or how I can correct it?

When I hit the "Phone" button on the bottom of the sense screen, it pulls up a contact list that is all 558 contacts plus any number that dialed in or out. I have my "People" button set with just the 150 people I love the most (I eliminated Facebook people from "People")
Is there anyway to change the "Phone" list so that it pops up the "People" list instead of the huge combined list of history and all contacts?

View 2 Replies View RelatedA number of users of my app have reported that on the Nexus One, running Froyo 2.2, the app appears multiple times in the 'Recent Apps' list that is displayed when you long press the home button. Personally, I have not been able to replicate the issue. Have tried killing the app with a task killer then restarting it to see if that would cause the app to appear more than once on the list. Also tried spawning multiple thread from within an activity in the app, but still no go. I have also tested on Droid phones running 2.2 as well as on the 2.2 emulator but to no avail. It is curious that only Nexus One Froyo users experience the issue. The app has one main launcher activity, about 30 different activities and is divided into 4 main tasks to help manage the activity stack. The app also has an IntentService for running network operations in the background. Is there any know scenario that could cause an app to appear multiple times in the 'Recent Apps' list? Is the 'Recent Apps' list populated based on the app package name e.g. com.mycompany.myappname or based on the tasks defined in the application manifest file?
