is there a way to set up my email (not gmail) to only download automatically over wifi? I receive a lot of work emails and it uses data unnecessarily when it downloads on my phone when I am at work. Ideal will be to only download when I change the setting. Don't want to turn of data completely because then all the other apps stop working too (WhatsApp, facebook etc.)

I'm in the process of switching from an iPhone 4 to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus purchased direct from Google. I wish to setup my Yahoo account, but I've run into a problem. I can receive and send emails without problems, but I can't find a feature to automatically bcc messages back to myself. I do this so that I can synchronize Sent messages with my PC. Is this feature missing in Android V4.1 or am I just not seeing it?

It keeps saying: "This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call customer care". Other internet works on phone in browser and I can get the googlemap to work too, just cannot set up the market to download apps.
View 11 Replies View Relatedwhen receiving pictures through gmail (I simply use the gmail app) they don't automatically appear in the email, like it does on my girlfriends Captivate through the gmail app. She didn't do anything special, just set up email and when she receives pics when she opens the email they're just there. Now there is the download and preview button next to the attachments but when I hit those my phone just says "fetching attachment, please wait". I've left my phone for at least 5 minutes and it will just sit on that screen. On one pic I did let it sit for a few minutes, gave up waiting, but noticed the pic later in my dowloaded folder. But this is the only pic it's done that with. So I would a way to get the pics to just show up in my email when I open the email, or not have to wait minutes on end for a pic to maybe get downloaded. I feel like there should be some solution without me having to download some app, since my girl's phone can do it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have read through the threads here and I know this is theoretically possible, but I can't get it to work. I have my Google apps email configured through the regular email app and set to push my email, but it doesn't actually push. I thought I'd try it with the GMail app, but I can't get it set up. When I try to configure it as a Google account, it says it "can't establish a reliable data connection to the server" even though my data signal is fine. This happens both on 3G and WiFi.
I had read to add the account as a Google account, using my full username@mydomain.com as the login and my password, so that's what I've been trying. I can't find anything that works for me on here, and the stuff on Google is really outdated and just sends me to the mobile website.
I just received a new Nexus 7 32GB and am having some issues. I'm trying to setup my email using my base email address thru Comcast. I have no trouble revieving email through the email setup not Gmail but there is no provision for an address book or contacts list for sending emails. I Googled around and found K-9 Email and went to Google Apps to download it and upon tapping the download button a message came up stating "no devices found". The Nexus7 is running Jellybeen 4.2.1.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Gmail account works great, and I have my aol and yahoo acounts set up no problem (well the yahoo was a little problem but got it to work so thats all that matters). I have 2 other email accounts that no matter what I do I can not get them to work. One is my works email which is handled by a company called network solutions. I can get the incoming server setup fine but I can not get the outgoing to work. The other is my school email which is some sort of msn email account variation (username@email.itt-tech.edu which i log into through msn.com). I cant get anything to work for this accuont.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI had the issue of Gmail not syncing on my Dx2. For that matter, nothing related to Google would sync! I could do it manually, but it would not do it automatically. I also didn't have any check boxes next to the individual items in the gmail settings!
What I found is that the Motorola Power widget controls ALL sync features! Almost like a main power switch for sync. Make sure you have the sync feature on this widget turned on! As soon as I turned it on, everything worked like it's supposed to.
I am not saying that this is the answer to everyone's issue, but it worked for me! I was on the phone with VZW for about an hour trying to figure this out and we were about to do a factory reset and Josh suggested that we check this..... IT WORKED!
I accessed my Google Play account from my daughters phone, to download an app for her. I unticked the option to automatically download emails (or something similar).
But, she's getting all my GMails automatically downloaded onto her phone.Where do I go to change the configuration - so the only place my GMails go is my phone?
Should I have gmail check al my MSN Email or is the stock email application (non gmail)
View 4 Replies View Relatedlately in my Asus Padfone 2, the wifi keeps turning on automatically without my permission. Everytime I wake the screen from lock screen, I can already see the WiFi indicator is on above, it's driving me nuts I have to turn it back off every once in a while. This only happen lately when I install many apps from Store I can't remember, so I reckon one of those apps is the main cause of this problem. Which in my running apps turns on my WiFi automatically?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter reading a great post in the forum I setup my HTC Inspire 4G phone to teather...it works great! I followed the same steps on my fiancee's Inspire 4G and it didn't work so well. When I click the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot box in Settings > Wireless & Networks it turns on the Wi-Fi...and it is detectable by other devices...but then it immediately and automatically turns off.
We have the same phone purchased on the same day and I used the same Access Point Name settings as detailed in the excellent Android Forum thread. I even deleted and re-created the Access Point to make sure I didn't mistype anything but the same Portable Wi-Fi turns on then immediately turns off problem exists.
Every day when I arrive home, my SGS3 has connected to some open network near my house. I never want it to do this automatically but can't stop it from happening. This never happens on my wife's I phone 4s...
I've set advanced settings to not notify me when an open network is nearby, but the damned phone keeps connecting to unwanted connections. How to stop that?
I'm on sgs3 with 4.1.2.
It's done this twice now (before and after factory reset). 2.1 OTA, not rooted.
Whenever I turn on the wifi, or I become in range of my WPA2 network, it doesn't always connect. I say "always" because it seems to be random. If I toggle wifi on or off, it doesn't always connect. Sometimes it connects after 30+ seconds. Every other device connects just fine.
The only sure way to get it to connect is to force it to rescan, usually by going to Settings and displaying all SSIDs in range. THEN it connects, always and immediately.
The even sillier thing is, it will alert me of open networks, but never connect to my own saved network.
in Jelly Bean opening an email in the basic email app and then touching anywhere within the email makes the email quickly scroll down to hide the to/from bar. It's the only place in Android where a single touch causes a scrolling response, so when I open the email and begin to scroll with a swipe, it jumps down and then scrolls which is somewhat disorienting as it differs from how scrolling works in every other app including Gmail.

Set it up last night and went through the basic set up screens that pop up automaticall. I set up the email account I use all the time but also set up a GMAIL account as I had read that Android really likes to sync with GMAIL. Once these were done I then set up a couple of things on the home screens and then thought right, time to get some apps. Clicked on the Market icon, selcted a couple of things to download, like google voice control app, clicked ok. Download seemed to start but withing 10 seconds in the notification bar I got an error saying download unsuccessful please try later.
Now basically all I have done is set up the very basics on a brand new phone, created a brand new GMAIL account, just with username and password, and thats it. I have also tried a full factory reset of the phone and starting over, but still no good. Is there something else I need to do, that the phone isn't prompting me to do or is there something wrong somewhere.
Is there a way to set up the droid to automatically sync with all of the pictures from your picasa web albums? There's a lot of pictures that I have on picasa that I would like to have on my phone.
