Just wondering I have the above phone, and ever since I bought it, I cant seem to configure my personal hotspot SSID and passcode, without it defaulting back to AndroidAP and default passcode I enter in my desired SSID and passode, click save, and if I go to conect on laptop it will come up ok, but only that one time. If I literally go straight back into the configuration of wifi hotspot, it has defaulted back to AndroidAP
I bought Motorola droid razr XT910 when I am trying to use to google map, it keeps waiting for GPS current location . After sometime it says location is temporary unavailable.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter reading a great post in the forum I setup my HTC Inspire 4G phone to teather...it works great! I followed the same steps on my fiancee's Inspire 4G and it didn't work so well. When I click the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot box in Settings > Wireless & Networks it turns on the Wi-Fi...and it is detectable by other devices...but then it immediately and automatically turns off.
We have the same phone purchased on the same day and I used the same Access Point Name settings as detailed in the excellent Android Forum thread. I even deleted and re-created the Access Point to make sure I didn't mistype anything but the same Portable Wi-Fi turns on then immediately turns off problem exists.
I go out into cities alot, and I usualy grab a coffee in either a Costa, or a Nero. These both have BTFON WiFi hotspots. At the moment I can connect to these as I have BT Openworld at home. However, my BT contract is being cancelled tomorrow, they're bloody expensive, and as a result, my access to these hotspots will stop unless I subscribe to thier BTFON service.
If I stop my Desire connecting to these by switching off WIFI, will the phone then automatically switch to 3G for internet access?
I unlocked my DROID RAZR M and switched from Verizon to tmobile, now when I attempt to start the noble hotspot i get a subscription error abs it tells me to call Verizon, is there a way around this? I've tried this party apps none will work, the all call up the stock hotspot from Verizon, can it be configured for tmobile?

How do I switch the phone over to my new Google account so I can delete the old one? I want to keep the same email notifications with the new account as well.
Attempting to change my MAC address I deleted 4 files whose name where WIFI.... something. Right after that My wifi went down and the phone is no longer WIFI capable. I know that I was surfing ROOT file system but instead of copying I clicked delete.
My phone is a chinese model running 4.2.2. What i did was using Xroot file searched for WIFI and selected those files to delete. SO my guess is that I deleted not only my MAC address but also other configuration files.
if there is a way to automatically switch between pattern and slide to unlock based on location? I know there are automation apps out there, such as tasker and setting profiles. I tried the LITE version of setting profiles and it does have an option to disable the lock screen completely, but not to switch between pattern and slide lock screens. I'd like to have a slide to unlock while at home, but have it change to a more secure pattern unlock when I leave home.
My guess is that this would be difficult because whenever you manually change between slide to unlock and pattern it asks you for your pattern, i.e. it doesn't seem to store your pattern if you ever disable it. I haven't tried tasker because it doesn't have a free demo version, but I would assume that if tasker (or another automation app) does have this ability, it would have to somehow store your pattern so that it can re-implement it, making it possibly insecure?
I'm not sure if there is a custom ROM that will do this. I'm currently running 4.0.4 plain vanilla rooted and unlocked on Verizon LTE Gnex.
My phone just get switch off automatically and its not turning on . I did everything like battery out for sometime and put it back again , nothing no any response its completely dead . Battery was fine and it was fully charged as well .

I get full 4G in my house 20-25Mbps average, and i don't need cable internet. I have been using usb/wifi tethering for months and would rather use my Netgear B/G/N router's bridging function to connect all of my devices rather than the radio on my droid.

My droid razr asks for my password to my home wifi every time i go out of range and then come back and try to connect again. Using netgear wnr2000 with wpa. If i input my password and press connect, it lets me use wifi just fine. Updated netgear to latest firmware last night and browsed through all settings, but didn't see anything that might make a difference. Still does it today. Even just going out in the yard and back, have to re-enter pass if i got out of range. Doesn't happen with any other devices i use... laptops, other phones. Even reserved the ip that my phone currently had on the netgear for the phone.

if I'm connected to a specific wifi AP (my prepaid hotspot),
1) turn off autoupdates from the Google Play app
2) turn off data for all apps except the foreground app
3) or let me decided which apps I want to allow to transfer data when connecting via that hotspot
This is to minimize costs associated with using that prepaid hotspot, but the same concept could apply for people who have limited data bandwidth per month.I'm using Android 4.1 on a Samsung S3 if it matters.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm getting a galaxy s3 very soon and I'm thinking about getting a nexus 7 with it.But as you know,nexus 7 doesn't have 3G so my only option to access network on it when there's no wifi network available is to use my future s3 as a wifi hotspot.So my questions are:
1-Is data consumption when using the phone as a wifi hotspot the same as if I'm normally using 3G on the phone itself ?

I want to use my phone as a wifi hotspot, but I would like my phone to allow access to only some ip adresses (my mail server actually).
This way if my PC try to go to another site (say "windows update" site) the phone will not forward its http request, thus limiting data consumption.

But when I turn on the hotspot app of my other android phone (with the same sim card i used in my 4X) and connect my Optimus 4x, it connects and can browse the net. After playing on it for awhile, I wanted to use it as a wifi hotspot so I downloaded quicksetting app but wifi hotspot setting didn't work. My Rise is rooted and using stock ROM. I was be able to use my LG Optimus V (rooted and IHO rom) as a wifi hotspot this way but it isn't working for my Rise.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi've been using the hotspot feature to deliver my carrier internet connection to my other devices at times when i'm not at home with the normal internet (often) sometimes i wish some of devices to not be able to temporarily connect, so i move them into the blacklist for a while; and while the feature to whitelist, blacklist and set user connection limit is cool, it has one major problem with it- there's only mac address labeling
it is not a problem if you fiddle with one device, but once you get more than 2 in the whitelist it's really impossible to remember all the mac addresses of all the devices... is there a way to label these devices?
or is there some app that could replace this native whitelist functionality but introduce labels? i am running 4.0.3 atm
