I want to shutdown the phone every night at a certain time via cron. Normally in Linux, you can use shutdown -h or Poweroff. Neither command works.
Their command in the program uses reboot -p which I understand to not be a good way to shutdown the phone as it is essentially the same as a battery pull.
I have busybox installed and have tried with full root permissions using busybox poweroff -f and nothing happens. Is there a simple command that I can push in there to safely shut down the phone?

Aug 21, 2010So I was out on my motorcycle and had about 60% battery left on my Vibrant.Figuring I wasn't going to need the phone for a few hours I powered the phone off, calling myself saving battery.When I turned the phone back on I was totally surprised that the battery was down to 38% immediately following powering up.This happens every time I power the phone down-I lose about 20% consistently.It also happens when google maps shits itself and either freezes the phone (necessitating a battery pull reset) or causes a spontaneous reboot.Is this normal? I've had my phone for a bit over two weeks (so out of my remorse period) and my besides this my battery works and lasts rather well, considering how much this phone has going on.

Sep 17, 2010So I woke up to my phone play a ringtone over and over. I couldnt stop the ringtone and it wasnt from an alarm. It was sitting at home screen just playing this ringtone over and over. So I turned the phone off and went back to sleep. When I turned the phone back on after I awoke it hard reset itself and made me start anew. No apps i downloaded, no ringtones or wallpapers except those on my SD card. Luckily I used backup assistant to get my contacts back but wtf?
Has this happened to anyone else? The only app Ive downloaded recently is ourgroceries which I linked with my wife. the phone doesn't change settings, only needed Internet access and something else trivial. I am very very careful with apps I download.
Again, anyone had this issue? Any reason why this happened?

What m worried about is the effect on my LCD screen. It seems to be running all night but in a dimmer mode. Is it ok to use the feature every night? Will i end up ruining my LCD a lot faster?

General :: Evo LTE - Phone In Reboot Loop?
May 26, 2012I went through the long process of setting up my new Evo LTE yesterday. Basically, installing and configuring a bunch of apps. Everything was looking good and working well. So the last thing that I decided to do last night was to give it a reboot. I saw it reboot (and was nice and fast) so I walked away. When I came back I noticed that it seemed to be rebooting again. So I watched it. The phone starts up and I can unlock it. I see items in the notification bar starting, I see a message right above the bottom menu bar appear stating "Content update error. Try again later.", and then about 30 seconds later the screen goes gray and then reboots. I have time to get in and look at settings and uninstall things - about 1 minute. But I really do not know where to start.
Is there a way of preventing apps from auto starting at boot? The phone is stock (no root).

So I end up charging it partially at home and then finish charging it in the car. Feb 28, 2013I purchased an extended battery, a Motorola branded BP7X for a Droid 2 phone. It's rated at 3.7 volts/1820 mAh. I tested it with a volt-ohm meter and got a reading of 4.2 volts.
When I install the battery in the phone and connect the charger (phone is off), the charging graphic shows the battery is fully charged. I can power on the phone with the charger attached, but as soon as the charger is disconnected, the phone dies. I tried this battery in two Droid 2 phones and got the same behaviour. Is this an indication the battery is defective, or is there something I need to do to make the battery work?

Sep 1, 2013i was trying to get cwn recovery onto my phone and as said i was unsure of what i was doing (i know im Stupid) i had already sucessfully rooted the phone and i opened mtkdroid tools and clicked backup and recovery the box on the right started to spit out text as my phone became detached from the data cable.
Now when i try to power up the phone the backlight lights up for 3-4 seconds then nothing if i hold
volume + and power with no data cable i get the same backlight for 3-4 seconds

the phone displays a battry bar in blue if i do nothing
the pc seems to recognise phone as universal serial bus
mtkdroidtools does not regognise the phone at all
the phone did say android preloader driver not found but ive installed this and this has now disapeared?
