So I thought I heard something that you should power down your smartphone each night. Is this something I should be doing? And is it just that turning it off and then back on?

HTC Hero by Sprint, running 2.1.6...I notice that I get my gmail updates almost instantaniously during the day, but at night I will get one and if I don't touch the phone, I won't get another until I start using the phone again.Is this some sort of "sleep" feature where you will not recieve gmail notifications while you are not using the phone (over night), or is it just my imagination?? I have noticed this numerous times over the past couple months, although I have not really been putting this theory to a controled test.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just done a nand backup, then unrooted (downgrade), then used Unrevoked to root and did a nand restore. Btw that took forever! Anyway after it was said and done the phone rebooted, and viola everything was back on there. The only hitch is since I have done the restore my phone has shut off by itself 3 times. I was ever so reluctant about doing the whole Unrevoked process and this is why. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Update: It hasn't turned off since after the third time so I guess it's stable now.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Desire HD succesfully and had no problem flashing roms and learned a little about rooted device abilities. However, no matter which rom i used, when trying to power down the phone it would power off and boot into clockwork mod. I could never actually power the device off. I now have a Note 2 that i would like to root but I am worried I wont be able to power off my Note.

What m worried about is the effect on my LCD screen. It seems to be running all night but in a dimmer mode. Is it ok to use the feature every night? Will i end up ruining my LCD a lot faster?

But I installed Nonsensikal 13.2 about a week ago, love it, and was about to basically settle on this as my default rom until Saturday. Starting Saturday my phone has become non-responsive about 5-6 times. Meanin the lock screen won't come on, and the power button will not turn the phone on or off.I'm assuming this means that the phone is still on when this happens, because if it had just powered down randomly I'd think the power button would turn the phone back on I have to pull the battery out and power it back on to start working again. I don't have setcpu or autokiller running, but I am running juicedefender (in case any of that is helpful for anybody.)

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

The only tome I had any frustrations was getting the clips unhooked also removing the cracked piece from the super strong adhesive. There was a setting on the Blackberry while sleeping, the phone would be the only thing to ring or make nose. Email notifications, etc., would be silent. Is there any quick setting or app to do this on Hero?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm moving over to Sprint.I'd rather not pay the $10 4G fee (or whatever you want to call that $10 fee), so I'll probably stick with a 3G phone.Is the Hero the best option? What I really need the phone to be able to do is voice calling, text, email, web browsing, etc. I'm not a power user, so I don't think I'd use the full power of the Evo anyway, so that's another reason to stick with the Hero.And if I understand correctly, I'd be eligible for upgrade pricing after 1yr with Sprint.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI rooted quite awhile back; I think it is Fresh 1.1.It worked fine.This morning it started spontaneously rebooting and is saying com.google.process.gapps. has stopped and all apps have forced close. At that point nothing works.I do have a Sprint contract to fix it but it has been rooted so I don't know what to do.
View 8 Replies View RelatedA couple of days ago I posted a question on what you guys did so that you could still receive emergency calls at night without the phone disturbing you letting you know you got a spam email at 3am.Several of you mentioned that I could go and change my notification volume, but doing that every night was too much work and I was bound to forget or silence my calls and forget to turn it back on in the morning.I found this wonderful FREE app called Sweet dreams. You set the time at which you go to sleep and it has several options such as disabling gps, wifi, bluetooth and putting your ringer and notification volume at whatever you want.You set the wakeup time as well so the phone turns things back on for you in the morning.

I am thinking about something like the GPS do, White backgrounds during the day, black at night etc etc. Any ideas on how to do this? I have lowered the brightness all the way down but that is still too bright.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt pops a message saying it's full, unplug. So I try doing it every morning before going to work, but that's not enough time to charge it completely. So I end up charging it partially at home and then finish charging it in the car. So when it's impossible to charge it fully in one charging session (which I assume is the best way to charge for the health of the battery), should I over charge or should I keep interrupting the battery's normal usage with multiple short charges?

They activated the phones for us and than told us that it should only be 30 minutes before our phones were on but could take up to 24 hours. its been about 15-16 hours and was wondering if it takes everyone this long?

Is there an app or something that will turn the phone on so the alarm goes off if somehow the phone shuts down? I use my phone as my alarm every morning, and I need it to go off, even if the phone is off/battery dies during the night.

What is keeping my phone awake through the night and hence draining my battery rapidly. I am going to post screenshots and BetterBatteryStats dump file to make it as clear as possible.
Basically, what I see is that the phone was mostly awake at night and was in deep sleep only for about 1 hour. I don't think it is normal.
My HTC hero is rooted and today i think it got overheated while charging it and tethering it. I unplugged it from the charger and it will no longer turn on.I plugged it back in and the light turns red, cause it's charging but willl not turn on.what does this mean?is my phone like broken?
