KitKat 4.4 :: Setting Up Duplicate Email / Active Sync Accounts On Android 4.4?
Jan 16, 2014Due to circumstances at my work , I cannot access the internal network outside.
Therefore I have to use exchange active sync to sync my work calendar whilst I am at work.
To access emails outside of work with have a email route setup and a external email host.
The short is I have to add 2 accounts under the same email address. One which will connect to the work network locally over wifi and the other that will just allow me to view work emails externally.
This has worked fine previously but since my phone has been updated to 4.4 kitkat when adding the second account it pops up with a error message about duplicate accounts.
How can i bypass this message and add the second account?

May 29, 2014I've noticed something since I updated my phone to kitkat 4.4.2 (it's a Z1 compact).
Whenever I use another app than my default app to send SMS, eg. I'm using SMSPopup, Glowfly or event another "real" SMS app along with my default one (let's say hangouts or Handcent), I have duplicate sent SMS, that means I have twice my sent messages in my list. I didn't have this issue on JB.
I tried to tweak access/read/write permissions via AppOps but the result is still the same. I now have to use the same app for popups/Notifications and SMS. Other SMS apps are useless because they duplicate the text messages.
General :: Can't Update Apps In Play Store After Changing Accounts
Jan 3, 2013I am having an issue on my Asus Transformer Prime tablet. I had my account on there and downloaded a bunch of apps and games. My wife signed up for an account and we added that one and removed my account as she has taken over my tablet. LOL. The app/game says there is an update but when we go to the Play Store it will not allow us to update it, it only shows OPEN and UNINSTALL. If I add my account back onto the tablet the option for update is there.
Is there anyway to update the apps/games without my account being on there? I thought about just deleting the game and re-installing it under her account but that would erase all of her progress in the game.
General :: Removed Google Accounts Can Still Remotely Install Apps
Aug 24, 2013I have a problem with my android phone. During the holidays I added my mothers and girlfriends gmail-account to my android phone (android 4.0) so they could check their email at wifi points. Afterwards (about a week ago now) I removed their accounts again. So, there is no trace from their accounts left on my phone. However, I just noticed that when they go to the play store on a pc, they can still install apps! Even though they are not logged in to my phone! I tried it, and indeed, my phone started downloading the app.
Googling how to stop this did not turn up anything useful, How do I disable their ability to install apps? I even added the accounts again to the phone, made sure all syncing was off, removed them (with all syncing off), and it still worked!
Android :: Duplicate Contacts In Apps
Jul 8, 2010I am getting duplicate contact entries in most apps. I look in my contacts list, and there aint no duplicates at all. Nor are there any on my Gmail account. But when I go into chompsms, or handcent, or even ringdroid, it shows up multiples of the same contacts. Any way to fix this?

Nov 11, 2009I switched my SMS to Handcent to resolve the battery issue. The tutorial I followed recommended reinstalling Hero's battery after doing all the software stuff. I took this to mean "take it out and put it back in." Well, I did that and it worked for the battery issue, but when I went to my "all programs" a bunch of my apps were listed twice (facebook, some games, etc). I dragged and removed the extra apps but every time I come back to all programs, they are still listed twice. Weird, I know. This isn't a drastic problem, but it is annoying esp if it keeps happening to additional programs.

Aug 15, 2010I have purchased several apps through the Google market. Updating to Froyo required a system reset for me so the apps had to be reinstalled from the market. My google checkout and login ID are the same but Google charged me again for the apps and they showed up on my CC. Tried to resolve through google but gave up in frustration trying to find some way to dispute or rectify the situation. I disputed the charge through my CC but I have a feeling that is going to cause more trouble. Surely there is some way this is SUPPOSED to work and a planned way to rectify easily when it does not.

Since the address associated with my market publisher acct is an @gmail address and not my Google Apps account the license check fails every time. I tried adding my Google Apps account to the list of "test" accounts in my profile. It continues to fail. Has anyone else encountered this? Has anyone been successful using a Google Apps account as a test account?

Let's say I want to send a text to someone. I open "messaging" and start typing a name, and lo and behold, a list begins to populate with a bunch of %$#@! duplicate names. WTF do I have to do??? THIS IS A NIGHTMARE that has lost me literally DAYS worth of time trying to figure out. I have sync OFF.

I have tried VNC VPN remote desktops and they are way too slow (about 5 fps on my Xperia Play)
I don't want entertainment folder streaming, as I want to display pc games and video, just so long as I can see the entire screen scaled to fit device resolution, 1366 x 768 -> 854 x 480.
I have tried VNC like TeamViewer and IDisplay and they are too slow on the fps, even on lower resolution.
I don't want a remote desktop, interactivity slowing it down, just a duplicate video output of the desktop. No audio.
The idea is to Keep my laptop lid closed, but still be able to view the desktop, while using the mouse regularly.
WiFi or USB is fine. If my Xperia Play can stream Youtube over WiFi clearly this is doable?

Sep 28, 2012I used to have a problem with the media scanner making duplicate song entries, only one would play and the other was invalid. For some reason that went away and now it adds media once and never scans again, so if I add songs later they never get picked up to be shown in the music player or winamp etc.
I found these tips:
go to application manager> all application and search
-media storage,
-music player,
-gallery application
and just delete cache and data and restart. It will solve the problem a it force to re build data base
This works still but it is a complete PITA because it resets wallpapers, ringtones and all sorts of other things to default and I don't want to have to do this every time I add a song. How do I fix the media scanner, does it even have logs or something I can look at?

When i first synced that email account it automatically linked all my existing contacts to that email. so when i try to delete it it deletes all my contacts. Is there a way to change the email account that a contact is linked with? The password has been changed on that email account so im also constantly getting an error message that the account cannot sync.
